The stage covered with water. their equipment in the back is covered in plastic. And they still go down to the ground on the wet floor. Boh the bass player is fun to watch. He really gets into these festival appearances. I think in some way they were all a bit pumped up finally getting to perform after the rain delay. Mosh pits are very common at Babymetal shows. Often in multiples. 2016 was a great year for Babymetal and the beginning of their kingdom. A worldwide stage in front of a live audience.
Great reaction. It was raining so hard all weekend that they renamed the festival Drownload. Their set was delayed by 40 minutes because of the rain while water was swept off the stage to make it a bit safer for them to do their choreo (there is a photo of their producer on stage with a broom) and the equipment had plastic covers put over it. Two years before, in 2014, the Download organiser said BABYMETAL would never play there. In 2015 DragonForce smuggled them in and invited them on stage during their own set to play 'Gimme Chocolate' with them. Word had got out and the crowd that gathered to see it exceeded all the boundaries of the stage they were on. 2016 and here they are on the main stage performing their own set. They were back again in 2018 and killed it again and if the world hadn't shut down they would have been there again in 2020. Live BABYMETAL is always best - and they are black belts in crowd control. 'Karate' was the lead single for their second album. It is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this as it is a Japanese martial art and reflects their culture - as with a lot of their songs it is also about always moving forwards.

Three girls could have aborted the performance and gone back to a comfortable hotel but they didn't because the huge crowd was waiting and no one left the venue. The girls never modified their choreo even on the slippery stage (You can actually see Su-Metal slipping lightly at 02:12 in your video. ). On the contrary, Yui and Moa threw themselves onto the wet floor and Kamis moved their bodies hard (BOH, bassist, jumped) with the girls to cheer up everyone there. Those scenes moves me to tears. In an interview, Su said this Download 2016 was one of the most impressive festivals because of the bad weather. She felt very happy to see the crowd waiting for them in such drenched condition. In addition, she thought the heavy rain worked as some kind of stage effects to make their performance look dramatic to the audiences in a fever. I love such a positive mindset of Su to accept any situation.
