Good job with the build mate. Your maiden flight reaction really brought me back to my beginning of flying FPV :) it was such a magic moment. I was gonna comment on your video issue but looks like you fixed it :) Good job again!
Appreciate the detail in your tutorial that made it perfect for a first time builder. Already had so much fun flying it and have improved a lot. Can't wait to build another. Thanks again Oscar!
Good work for a first build. I would like to do the same. Can you include more information regarding the build please. Looking forward to watching your next video 🤘
Over the couple of years flying freestyle, I like how every first build is so clean, and tight like a submarine. And as time goes by you learn over time what is just making replacing parts a pain in the ass. Neat build :)
Nicely done. I'm planning my first build, glad to see yours went together so well as I was planning on using the same parts! Looks like it's running well, in spite of the wind!
It's sooo much easier with an open prop. The 5" will just do them on demand. It's so floaty that it gives you way more time in the air off the throttle. But practising on the whoop will make you a pro once you go to 5" 👌
Great job there. You inspired me to make my own build too! I have recently got a BNF 5", I totally understand what you mean it's so much controllable, easier to fly compare to a 3" whoop. Nice job!
Looks good dude. Just finished up one of my builds recently and had the same reaction of “how does it just work” After some tuning it’s flying great. Good stuff
Congratulations on your first build bro. I am currently trying to build my first fpv drone, a Flywoo Explorer LR 4 v2, but i am disabled and unable to work anymore so it's going to take me a while before I can fly, i can't wait.
As some one who solders all day for work on medical devices...and knowing the difference between RHOS and glourious leaded silver solder...you soldering is clean and you are doing a good job not OVER cooking your solder. So if you had doubts ...now you shouldnt lol! For me building my quads is like...zen. Enjoy the skies!
Somethings I noticed that were causing your problems with the 03 air unit. I noticed you didn’t have voltage on the osd. You need to switch some wires or check your ports settings in beta flight. You should be getting voltage on the osd. I think you need to check the MSP on that port as well as it doesn’t look like it’s recording a file on the air unit. When you arm it should start recording/switch into full power mode. Make sure you’re in HD mode in the goggles as well.
Yep you’re exactly right - my osd was in low power mode the entire first flight lol. I’ve set the Displayport now and it’s working amazing. My vista doesn’t have an sd slot to my knowledge? I think I can only record through the goggles.
You just need to get a bigger tip for your soldering iron for those battery connections. It has more thermal mass and will melt the solder faster. Good job on this build 👍
Forgot to mention that the capacitor needs to be as close to the ESC as possible to be effective. It should be right off the board if possible. It doesn’t do much if you add extension cables.
wooh man i also did my first 5 inch build with same stack and motars of f405 and iflight zing2 2207 1855kv...wooh we did the build at just the same time goodluck for the hobby and i am also a beginner and this is my first fpv ever
If i may, the only thing that i´ll change is not ziptie the power lead to the air unit. If the lipo get ejected, the power cables could and will take the air unit apart.
and that´s the point. A lipo can desconect in a crash. It happens. Just look the ton of people that do this for living. All of them zimpie the cable to a standoff.@@timbo_fpv
Very nice video, i was looking at the Oscar build guide and found your link and glad i did it, i have a Avata and im going to also build my first quad following the great guide from Oscar and your video. Thank you ;)
Epic mate! Hit me up if you run into any issues! - I would also recommend getting the Vifly finder and adding it to this build, super easy only 3 wires and might help you save your quad if it get's lost.
Hey mate, nice video :) Just built my first one last week. I saw that your stack screws werent very long. I have the same problem... Did you just push the fc down so the nuts would fit? I did that and I feel like the stack is way too stiff now...
I think the stack came with it's own screws that seemed to fit really nicely. Def didn't have to push it down or anything like that. I just hand torqued the top nuts down very lightly.
This can’t have been your first time handling a soldering iron, right? Great job and nice build in general. How do you feel about this build all these months later? New sub. Thanks for posting your experience.
I bought a practise board and worked on that a lot first! Thanks heaps! The drone is still going sooo strong, I haven’t used anything else since and have learnt freestyle on it. If you check my latest shorts there’s some stuff there. Just can’t believe how strong they are really…

Yo - that was a mistake I made with the VTX - if you get to the end part I fly it with the actual setup at 50Mb/s and it's good. Although it still doesn't come close to the o3. If you want to go o3 I would buy a different frame though.

Great job! I’m new to fpv myself and looking to make a 5” also. I have a question about the 2 small antennas on the arm. What are they for if you are using the DJI remote and goggles? Or is that for when you get a different ELRS remote?
Hi good job for the build, how did you get the OSD information into the integra? with a VTX Runcam. Me i have a caddx Vista and i dont know how do that.
Before you go fly, do you tune something in betaflight or does the esc have its own tune that is just ready to fly. Other than setting up the Motor direction, esc orientation and like channels to arm etc.
I've just left this on the stock tune and it's more than enough for me. I think it's worth changing the tune if you're flying GoPro etc though as it changes the weight orientation a bit.
Yep - you have to solder onto the link itself, but the other end plugs direct into the FC. If you’re using a non DJI rx protocol then I would recommend snipping the SBUS wire too.
I have heard other builders say they had to program their control module. You did not have to set that up? Or was the control module already programmed? I have just received my first cinnewhoop, and am thinking of a five inch build. Thanks for your video.
Yes you're right - you have to configure the MSP + Displayport in Betaflight as well as each of the motors etc. Your FC will have a booklet with the correct configs. It sounds complicated but it's not really. RUclips is your friend haha.
How did you land on a proper PID tune? Did you use a preset in Betaflight? I built my first quad about a month ago now and I've just been working on dialing it in!
I was going super slowly but only about 2-3 hours really. It's really not too hard to do. Mate, get into it - I would start with a small analog whoop kit to learn though these 5" drones can be pretty rogue.
you need osd reading your rssi and cell voltage and why does it only show 6 mbps it should 50 mbps when your using the wasp and vista vtx i think you dont have it set up right you better check it the reading are wrong
Great video and I hope you stick with it! But if its a stack..! Its not an all in one😝 an all in one "aio" has the fc and the esc board... all in one! No stack😊
Yeah I guess a lot of people say to get a tiny whoop first and learn on that. Which makes sense. But all up I thought the 5" was much easier to handle than the CL35.
Hi mate - any 6S battery around 1100-1500mah. Personally I would go with GNB lipo. They’re super tough and I’m still using the same ones I had in this video. Best of luck !
Never flew a drone! Was thinking of getting a DJI but to be honest I want a FPV and built one my self how hard from a scale 1-10 is to sowder a stack and actually understand what you doing for someone that has no experience?
It's not that hard - just put the time in on youtube tutorials and buy a practise solder board so you learn it before actually soldering the ESC etc. Don't get a DJI drone!
What resources and information did you use to work out how to do a build? I really want to do my own build but don’t have any idea where to start and have only flown bind n flys.
@@timbo_fpv sweet. That sounds ideal. I’ll check it out. How much roughly did it come to all together for parts and stuff? Cheaper than a Bind n Fly? & does it go through the Betaflightnside of things as well? Doing my first build was one of this years New Year’s resolutions ;) Cheers buddy.
So this is gonna change depending on your setup - but with the Vista you just hold the button on the side and do the same with the controller. It will start searching and then eventually bind. Then you need to configure the correct UART's in Betaflight so they can communicate. RUclips is your friend with this stuff.
Yeah so when I configured it initially it was in limp mode with terrible quality, needed to update the MSP + Displayport on Betaflight which sorted it.
So i went along with the tutorial which I linked in the description. But if you’re making your own custom I would defo just post into a reddit group or something to make its all gonna work together 👌
Heya - so the drone came to about £300 all up or around $380 usd. Heaps of different options for cheaper or more expensive versions though. Analog is a lot cheaper.
Hey - which part? If you click the link to Oscar Liang's build (in description) - He goes over it pretty thoroughly. I didn't get into it too much in this vid because I was literally learning as I went.

I think it would mate seeing as the Vista is DJI - but I'd defo ask around to make sure.
isnt 5mbps a bit low for the vista
i thought it did 25mbps
Yeah so when I configured it initially it was in limp mode with terrible quality, needed to update the MSP + Displayport on Betaflight which sorted it.
How do we know that the frame is fit with the esc & flight controller,….. ???
So i went along with the tutorial which I linked in the description. But if you’re making your own custom I would defo just post into a reddit group or something to make its all gonna work together 👌

Heya - so the drone came to about £300 all up or around $380 usd. Heaps of different options for cheaper or more expensive versions though. Analog is a lot cheaper.

How to do configuration
Hey - which part? If you click the link to Oscar Liang's build (in description) - He goes over it pretty thoroughly. I didn't get into it too much in this vid because I was literally learning as I went.
Why signal just 5Mb?
You need to update and fcc unlock
Nah the issue was that I hadn't set up the VTX correctly - if you check the end of the vid I fixed it and got to 50mbps.
