It hits home especially when you've had one of those moments in real life. Someone says something so incredibly selfish and devious but disguised as good-natured, that you just decide to yourself that they've crossed the line for the last time. Scenes like this are so good because they play on our inner desires. lol

    Such a great scene!
Littlefinger knows how to manipulate those who think so much of themselves. The cocky ones. Cersei, Lysa, the Boltons. The only cocky ones he couldn't fool were the Tyrells thanks to the Queen of Thorns who doesn't listen to anyone, but even then she took advantage of his offer
The Starks don't put themselves on pedestals. Jon least of all. He always humbled himself.
Here when littlefinger brought up how Catelyn "didn't think much of him" but then pointed out how he's now "standing above the rest", you can tell he's trying to butter him up.
But Jon doesn't see it that way. Rather than hearing "you are better than your family" he hears "your family wasn't that good to begin with". So he looks insulted rather than appreciative.
    "You don't belong down here"
You can see littlefinger's expression switch immediately when his words weren't taken the way he intended.
And the cherry on top was the look in Jon's eyes as he had littlefinger by the throat just before speaking. He had a real wolf-like glare, and that rumbling voice was a true growl of a protector who has seen enough horrors befall his pack

Littlefinger certaintly had a "interesting" strategy here for a first impression:
    1) go into the crypts, a private place that only Starks are usually allowed in and where people go to pay their respects in quiet and solitude.
    2) Bring up the death of his father, brothers, and Catelyn's dislike of him and the idea he got satisfaction from all her children dead so he is now what Catelyn always feared, lord of winterfell and king in the north.
    3) Mention how you loved Catelyn, and in a romantic way, which no matter how he felt about her is not likely to be well recieved to talk about his fathers wife and his siblings mother.
    4) Demand a thankyou and act like it was all because of you that the battle was won, when in fact Jon and Littlefinger both know it was Sansa who asked for them to come, and that Littlefinger only did this so he can gain power and try to rule the north through Sansa, which is why I think he's so unhappy about Petyr being in Winterfell, Sansa invited a schemer and traitor into their home after they just cleared their home out of dangerous people.
    4) Tell Jon you love his sister, after having arranged the marriage to Ramsay, left her to suffer for however long she was in that castle with no help, and after you confessed you loved her mother and keeping in mind you're old enough to be her father, and knowing she has endured being bethrothed to and beaten by Joffrey, married to Tyrion, married to Ramsay and literally risked death to flee to Castle Black for Jon to save her.
    5) Don't deny you worked for the lannisters.
Now, I don't see why he would at all be calm or civil with you and listen to you at all after what he said, if it was Ned or Robb they would have run him through, if Catelyn heard it she would have slit his throat, if Jon didn't want to risk the Vale men fighting his men if he killed him then and there, he certaintly would have.
Baelish went from caution and hiding his words, to straight up sabotaging himself, digging himself deeper.

Little bit, but far more just simply out of his safety zone.
I mean, he did similar stuff back in King's Landing with Cersei, and, well, that almost got him his head scissored off.

Though eventually not his actual son but Jon was more like Ned than Robb. Silent, shy, intense and honourable to a fault. Robb was more extroverted, outgoing and heeded to passions. Robb in a way resembled the description of Ned’s older brother Brandon.

Tired of all these “Jon is a dragon” discourse. The guy is a Northener through and through. He’s as Stark as he could be, even more so than Bran and Sansa. Rhaegar didn’t raise him so there’s none of him there. That’s all Ned. Jon is a wolf.

He also back stabbed Ned Stark, started the Lannister Stark conflict which left thousands dead, sold Sansa to the Boltons where she was raped and abused, Littlefiner owes more than he is owed, and Jon who is Anointed King in the North, has more authority that Littlefiner who the Knights of the Vale turned on at the end anyway.

He only acknowledged the knights of the vale for coming to Sansa’s aid, he saw little finger as the man that sold his sister to Ramsay. I’m sure Sansa told him what happened to her after that, and Jon knows that the knights of the vale at the end of the day were sent by Robin and in reality were more loyal to Sansa though robin followed the advice of little finger.

Made no sense why Littlefinger didn't go or was wasn't invited to go with Jon to meet Daenerys since he also represents one of the Seven kingdoms. Not to mention the Vale at this point was a more strategic ally than the North since they still had all their armies intact. It would have also given us a scene with him and Varys reuniting. Such a waste...

Absolute insanity how even as late as Season 7 when D&D's ineptitude was on full display, still Jon retained something of a commanding presence, a reliable moral compass and an appropriate knowledge of the English language. Yet somehow despite two years to work with, all D&D succeeded in was fully butchering him alongside other show ruined characters like Stannis, the Sand Snakes, Tyrion and so many others who were bent over by their incompetence and arrogance.

    • @jjh2456
      @jjh2456 2 месяца назад

Well you got the point. It is their arrogance that did them in. That’s not butchering a character.
