Why don’t we have this in Cali
A little thing called climate.
It’s not climate. Ya, sure, California is slightly drier, but many parts of California are in hardiness zone 5 like New England so temperatures drop to near freezing in fall. The problem is, California is evergreen conifer country, and beautiful trees like the ones in the east coast aren’t native here. Many cities in zone 5 or zone 6 California grow trees form the east coast and the do surprisingly well, due to similar climates. It’s just the soil type which is different and that evergreens are the most common tree in highland California also, California is mostly temperate in the northern part.
California has it's own unique type of nature. That's the beauty of North and South America
