@@RightOnReplicas I will ;)
Do you possably have a list of paint needed ( and codes) and anything else you think would be needed to make a good model.
LT, for paint; TS-85 Red Ferrari Spray as well as Gloss Black, White and Silver. For a good model; patience and practice! -Doug
@@RightOnReplicas thanks a lot. It shall be a fun and at times frustrating few weeks. Can't wait
It is one of the best and easiest of Tamiya's F1 car kits; I have built 2 over the years. 'Rumour' has it that Tamiya messed up with moulding the engine; it is said to be 1/24 scale and not 1/20. This could be true, as the engine does seem a little small compared to the chassis engine bay.
DG, Thanks for the information! -PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug
Thanks for the video. I just started this kit having never made a F1 car before. It looks like a fairly unforgiving kit.
Ram, Tolerances are tight. Use only liquid cement. Scrape all glue surfaces of paint. Test fit often. PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug
i realize it is kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream new series online ?
@Byron Benicio I use flixzone. You can find it on google :)
@Dorian Jeffrey yup, been watching on flixzone for months myself :D
@Dorian Jeffrey Thank you, I signed up and it seems to work =) Appreciate it !
How did you paint the division between the transmission and engine block? It’s not something I think I can mask.
PW, It's just a straight line so it's not to hard if you go slow and use an optivisor to view the progress! - PS - please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers. -Doug
What colour by tamiya would be good for the body? TS-49?
TSF, depends on the color of the primer. If dark then use TS-49. If light then TS-85 Spray! -Doug
Right On Replicas thanks! I’ve found a better option in the mean time: Revell has a spray colour named Ferrari Red, so I’ll use that.
TSF, Sounds good! -Doug
@@RightOnReplicas Tamiya also released lq21 for the Italia red so you can paint it with airbrush.
If you would like to see the actual car that the model is based on, it is here
www.moma.org/explore/inside_out/2012/04/06/five-for-friday-plus-one-momas-car-collection/
It is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
SN, Thanks for the info! -Doug
Can you find and do more f1 kits with a driver because I like the drivers it makes it more realistic. :p
LB, I'll watch for them but those are the older kits and they are getting pricey! -Doug
How old is this kit? Thought Ferrari was a Bridgestone user, not Goodyear.
After seeing the driver names, I have answered my own questions.
@ROR
It is the car from 1989, hence the name F189. This model is the car Mansell raced in the Portuguese Grand Prix in September 1989.
I just rediscovered Tamiya mini 4wd model car kits. If anyone wants a break and needs to build something a little simpler, try one of these kits: ruclips.net/video/np2uFgDA3v4/видео.html they’re designed to run on a track with two AA batteries and a hobby motor, but I think they look ok just as display pieces, too. I’ve got 3 kits coming from Japan that I intend to build and customize. Right on Replicas should build and review some of those kits sometime.
LM, thanks for the suggestion. I've got one in the queue to review! -Doug
Right On Replicas, it would be interesting to see what you’d come up with. The mini 4wd kits are hard to come by in the U.S. but they are very low cost, $10.00 - $20.00. It seems they’re made for kids in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan who don’t have a lot of money. A child could assemble one in 15 minutes, put the stickers on, and the car would look pretty good. A modeler with spray paint could make one look FANTASTIC! The beauty of it is, they are very simple kits which won’t take forever to build.
I noticed that the right rear tire was crooked
BR, Are you looking at it from an angle? -Doug
Nope I was looking at it from behind D
Keen eye there BR, it got bent after getting bumped into the wall in pit lane. We'll get that fixed in a jiffy! -Doug
Just FYI, "Tamiya" is pronounced TA-MEE-YAH, not TA-MAI-YAH.
Doug Thanks for the info! -Doug
