Watching this video almost brings tears to my eyes. I used to watch this Sign Of The Times video at my job while I was working at a video store back in 1987. Prince had so much energy and was full of so much life during this amazing performance! He was so funky and soulful. This is easily one of the greatest performances in music history in my opinion! In addition to being one of the greatest guitar players in modern music history, he proved to be an awesome drummer as well! Great memories of a time in my life.
The Revolution had so much fun doing this song during their rehersals. We have just witnessed one of the reason why this concert film was declared the greatest rock n roll concert film ever made. It surpassed previous rock n roll musical films such as The Who's Tommy & Pink Floy's The Wall
I just got this.. when Prince...well maybe I got it before but I was high. But when Prince took the drums, him and Sheila kissed their lips with their hands then hit their own asses. .. they were saying "Kiss my ass, we about to JAM". Makes me love it even more❤❤❤

Both are incredible. There is no choice because there is no choice 2 different and sometimes similar visions MJ preferred 1 album every 5-7 years, with songs polished to the core Prince 1-2 albums/year with songs completed in 1 day sometimes. The shows: a perfect show for MJ Or a show based on instruments. 2 visions, 2 ways of doing things. Personally, I love both.

The man was superhuman. This was after Purple Rain, and Parade, and on the way to Lovesexy. He just played constantly. Wrote, played, performed, wrote, played, performed..... 3 or 4 days non-stop, then go again. He was an absolute beast - AND he was a pioneer. Who do you think was the first artist to sell his own music on the internet? Prince: Crystal Ball. He finally got the rights to his music (stopped every video on the internet of his, that didn't have his permission to show) then he died and his family gave the rights back to the people he fought all his adult life. Plus 2 failed marriages and the loss of his son. Even though he lived a wonderful life in some parts, I wish he'd found love and settled down a bit.
Great energy on this version of the song... The album version is just a tad slower, and was recorded in Paris... not sure what city this show was in... either way, Prince ALWAYS put on a great performance. Rest easy...
One of my biggest regrets is to have never witnessed the live of one of the greatest musical talents of our times: Monsieur Prince (especially when there were Sheila and, Wendy & Lisa in his band.)

Sounded like he was out MJing MJ. Maybe this is where MJ got some ideas who knows. The concerts were frenetic but had a narrative back then - usually a fiction about a long running love rivalry for Cat the dancer. Every move and every note by everybody was ReHearsed multiple tumes, without mercy. Prince demanded inspired and got the best from everyone he worked with for as long as they could keep up, then he moved on to educate and burn out the next musicians. I dont understand such relentless energy from a lifelong clean vegan who ate so little and hardly slept or rested.
Shelia E was part of the band and that's it. People don't realize that Prince cut her off, because of her scheming ways. Look at what she's been given since Prince's death.
Prince changed his band over about 5 times. He was very mercurial, and casting shade on various band members is unwarranted. He was surrounded by sycophants, and that makes anyone rather weird, when you have people telling your farts are like perfume.
