This is result of democrat policy for decades…look at Miami, it’s being regentrified. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Democrats want you to think it’s racist, but what should we do? Let the city just go down the tube and let them kill each other, let them sell drugs, and let them rob hard working people? Nope. Nope. I want to see my tax dollars going towards progress in these neighborhoods. Believe it or not, there’s a lot of good people in those neighborhoods. As long as you’re living a morally correct life, you have nothing to worry about. It’s only the thugs who are angry when the neighborhood gets renovated, because normally there will be more of a police presence and they will be tougher on crime.

I was born at Germantown in 1963. We moved away in 1975. The two times I have ventured back to Philadelphia I ended up making a wrong turn and ending up in some areas that looked similar. My guess is that a paleface like myself would not receive the warmest of welcomes.

That "bad situation" is mostly self-inflicted at this point. I'm not saying they could easily change things. I grew up dirt poor and it's extremely difficult to climb out of. But the culture that these places have harbored has perpetuated and multiplied the problems.
A significant percentage of the dudes you see here wouldn't hesitate to rob and assault your ass and gunpoint in broad daylight if you walked down these alleys alone. This isn't a place where people are "just chilling" and making light of things. This is a place where the consequences of extreme criminality and violence are on full display. This aesthetic was painted with bloodshed.
It feels nice to view this the way you are from the comfort of your home, but it's naïve. This place is more violent than most warzones, and that's not hyperbole. The per capita inflicted death rate is higher than the Iraq war.

This video came up on my recommendations, and like... this is just North Philly? Everyone's talking about how it's anxiety-inducing, and like... nothing's happening. Nothing looks off or particularly worse than any other working-class urban neighborhood. Are y'all watching this just instinctively terrified of poverty and POC or...?
