- Introducing the MOAB-X8 Carbon Fiber Barrel by Deadlywind, the pinnacle of paintball barrel technology. As the acronym suggests, the Mother Of All Barrels, this revolutionary design sets a new standard for performance and versatility in the paintball world.
Key Features:
Dual-Layer Design: The MOAB boasts a patent-pending dual-layer barrel construction, featuring a monolithic ultra-lightweight carbon fiber outer sleeve. This innovative design not only enhances durability but also isolates and protects the internal barrel components for unparalleled performance.
Insert Compatibility: Choose between PWR or Freak XL inserts, offering a customizable experience tailored to your preferences and playing style.
Internally Ported Front Sleeve: The MOAB's unique internally ported front sleeve, available in multiple bore sizes, ensures a perfect match with the rear insert bore. This level of precision guarantees optimal performance on the field.
Field Strippable Design: Easily maintain and clean your barrel with the MOAB's field-strippable feature, providing hassle-free maintenance for peak performance.
Universal Compatibility: The MOAB is designed to be used with a wide range of paintball guns, utilizing Deadlywind's X-series threaded backs. PWR threaded backs are available only in Autococker threads. Freak XL adapters are available for most thread types.
BATFE Cleared: Despite its suppressor-like appearance, the MOAB has been cleared by the BATFE for sales and use on all paintball guns, ensuring legality and compliance.
Weather-Resistant: The MOAB is resistant to external port-clogging elements such as precipitation or bunker paint, guaranteeing consistent performance in diverse playing conditions.
Configurations and Sizes: Available in 14” (14.5” for PWR), the MOAB weighs only 75 grams without an insert.
Note: Ported internal front sleeves should ideally be around 0.005" larger than the control (PWR or Freak XL) bore.

Just to note for those olds of us still around, Deadlywind on their site also sells this kit in Angel threads. The old LCD, G7 Fly/06 Speed and A1.
OMG this seems so over complicated to be losing pieces on the weekend. I´d rather have complete barrels of each size than dealing with this.
This is honestly really cool. Barrel tips are still way too big from the factory it’s insane.
I might get this ONLY IF it’s proven to actually be quieter than other barrels
Not seeing any porting on the outside of the barrel “sleeve”. Was wondering if it acts like a suppressor, I would like to see a sound comparison video testing if it’s more quiet than an average barrel. Test how loud it is vs. Carbon pwr barrel and freak xl barrel respectively!
I’d say it’s about average sound wise to the other high end barrel offerings. Main advantage is you won’t get bunker sludge, rain, etc. into the inside of the barrel. I am really liking mine.
Zero reason to have 5 different pieces to 1 barrel. CP used to make single bore barrels. Best barrels I've ever used.
They literally explain why. Your one piece cp wont have peak performance with modern paint size
@@socalpumpballer sure it won't. Lol You think this is the first time paint has been small?
When you suck at phyysics and paying attention in "class"
@@socalpumpballeractually a one piece CP is totally fine, this whole system is silly
@@RaginCajundoggI think this person got into paintball recently because paint has been small since like 2010 Mike from tech pb has a video of him talking about painting getting smaller and smaller
So we went from 1-3-piece barrel systems that have worked flawlessly over the years to a 5-pc system? If it isn't basically a suppressor and super quiet i don't even want to entertain it.
Imagine buying a five piece barrel kit for your 98 or Spyder
I love the idea and im sure it works if u wanna run through a bunch of paint to set it up. Honestly I run a old skool freak setup and really have no issues and its simple that being said its most likely why the freak has been around for so long its simple reliable and it just works
I mean inception designs has done a sized front barrel for years now. Works great also.

The Blue DW front-insert is ported.
I don't see any porting in the Barrel 'Carrier.'
I also don't see any means for air escaping from the front-insert rerention cap.
So, where does all the air go?
Does this act like a "raincover?"
What happens not IF but WHEN there's a Breech or Barrel Break?
Any plans on a Decibel test?
Thanks for sharing Rory and team.
It's pretty goofy and yeah basically just rain cover
Nothing. If you have a paint break you just swab/squeegee it out and go about your business like any other barrel. I just clean the carbon shroud at the end of the day.
The cover is really nice for keeping paint/debris out. I find it especially useful for keeping bunker sludge out on the speedball fields.
CP (and others) make a one piece barrel that's the same bore the entire length. I shot a one piece barrel that outperformed a Acculock kit which paint kept breaking in no matter the insert so I've inly gone to one piece barrels and not dumping money into "kits" thinking it will somehow make paint more accurate
Was it higher end paint or just walk on paint?
Cp unfortunately doesn't have as many sizes as a standard barrel kit
@@tylersaunders8723 which is fine because nobody needs more than a couple sizes. "paint to bore match" is not possible, never has been, you either underbore or overbore. Nothing will make junk paint shoot better, but a single bore one piece certainly helps and maybe one day somebody will make quality paint that's consistently sized again (and bigger)
@@yaboiibfreezeGaming higher end Valken
@@virtual_balboathat’s tragic I’ve had bad paint once in the winter the other time was summer
I’ve been using Inception Stella barrels for years, I’ve gone from Freak to XL and now PWR backs all with the same platform. I have no idea why anyone would choose this over the Stella system
Aaaand once you've got your barrel FINALLY SIZED. It's time pack up and go home. Cause even the field is closed by this time. 😆 no thanks!
There’s no porting on the barrel. So how will it sound?
There is porting, on the inside of the front. So hypothetically, the barrel will be very quiet as it's basically a ~raincover~. We'll see if the testing backs that up though.
@@TheAlmostPanda what happens when you chop a ball? goes between the carbon and tip insert
Exactly if you have a barrel break, how easy will it be to shoot through that break? XL ACP tip is pretty good at shooting through breaks albeit with a ever so slightly louder sound signature
Dude it looks cool but that top cap is going to disappear on the field somewhere
@@pkchiu89you clean it as you would during play, then dissemble and clean as you would any barrel. As someone else said this is pretty much the equivalent of a rain shroud. We have used them over a year and the guys really like them.
They need to make a .680 tip for it
Wonder how it fits Cockers, Pumps, and guns like the EMF100.
Why wouldn’t it? Cockers and snipers were originally sold with 1” bull barrels
It fits similar to a wgp bull barrel or something similar. No issues with standard cocker style pumps.
Why not just bring back the Unitech Lucky barrels?
No test? Come on.
The ability to suppress sound will make or break this barrel. The lack of shooting videos is a little concerning
someone buy the rights to the un1tec, lucky uni's were the best barrels ever. 1 pc full length bore with backs that screwed on for different threads.
at this point, i would rather just start buying 1 piece barrels bored to whatever size. CP makes cheap 1 pieces that are very accurate, just need smaller bores.
Disruptive make small bore 1 piece barrels, and they're inexpensive. I love CP though, have a 685 and 693 all you need
I see this as a money grab system, just my opinion.
They're not Dye at $35/insert and full price for 5+ year old guns/platforms lol
I like DW stuff but yeah this is goofy and pointless
Disruptive make 15" one piece barrels in small bores
My guess 1 pc barrels making a comeback ?
This is clearly a 5 piece barrel; tip, barrel, threads, front insert and back insert.
Gimmick
Why don’t they just make barrels sized to specific gauges.
Huh? They do
Shrink-flation is hitting paintball in the freakin PAINTBALLS?! Come on economy, I don't have money to pay more for less paint and rebuy all my barrels in smaller diameters :(
Uhmmm hard pass...on this
Utterly useless. Sorry Colin, I love DW stuff but this ain't it
