Frustrated waiting . Trust me you will be frustrated waiting to return it. It's such a pile of crap. I've had mine for two long years. Got another 2 dread full years and epic winters freezing in the car because you can't use the heaters as it drains 60% range even if you use the heater for 20 % of the discharge cycle . Just using the demister at 21 degrees Celsius when absolutely necessary drains 40% of the battery on a discharge cycle from 80% to 30%.
Over priced milk float. It's the biggest car mistake I've made.
Tried to return it to the dealer. They said it's lost £15k in 15 months so we would have to pay them 9k to return it.

    Nice review loved it.
Looks like a really nice car but its hugely overpriced. Its not going to save you money in anyway. Especially if you are going to keep it for three years thats going to cost you a ton.
The cost of electric also means you wont save. You would have to do 80, thousand miles to start seeing some cost back.
Also yeaj if you dont have home charging they are a terrible idea.
Also hate to be that guy but its pronounced eshh eh lons !
    Great review!

Good review, think that charger scammed you, started on 15% and finished on 80% so my math says that’s 37.7 kWh you put in at 50 pkwh isn’t that £18.85 not £27.
Sorry if I’ve missed something obvious new to EVs and thinking about swapping my Golf for a Born, just looking into it all currently.
Ps ignore all that you must have the bigger battery one, I missed that 🤦

Spot on with the calculations. I did the calculations myself and you're right. Also in winter you get less than 2 Miles per kw in this car so thats like 25p per mile which is way too expensive compared to even a petrol maserati

It is difficult to know whether or not to have a home charger. On the one hand, the mileage range is very poor and will be needing to charge a lot. On the other, it doesn’t charge properly overnight on low-cost electricity as it has a random battery safe mode which kicks in and about 70-80% of the time it charges at half the normal 7 kWh. I got rid of mine.

@@gesp5151 Hi Gesp, how are you claiming the shortfall? If you don't mind me asking.
I'm on a PCP . Paid 500 Deposit but apparently 400 of that went towards the gap insurance I found out on the day I picked up the car brand new. They're crooks, confused me on the invoice . Paying 560 a month for 48 months then bubble payment of 17k if I wana keep the trash which I don't.
Thanks in advance for any advice . Basically 38.6k price for the car and 7k interest on top over 4 years.

    • @GariAat
      @GariAat 4 месяца назад

@@gesp5151 Hi Gesp, I typed a long reply to you two nights ago but for some reason it doesn't show up here.
I'm on a 4 year PCP, 2 years gone, £560 a month. Complete rip off.
I've been arguing with them within the first 3 months of getting the car when I realized that the range they advertised is completely rubbish. Basically we bought it end of June 2022, we drove it for 2 weeks then went abroad on holiday. When we returned in September, during school run , I noticed switching on the demister, the range goes from 220 down to 87 miles. If I turn on the heater , it's even less. When we spoke to them they said this is expected. But this was not mentioned when they sold us the car. On a typical morning on a two hour school run and commute of 16 miles in London traffic, even if I turn on the demister a total of 15 minutes, I'm getting average 2.5 miles a kwh and even less in winter if I turn on the heater. Last two winters my kids and I have frozen in the car wearing 3 layers of clothes because turning on the heater, I don't even get 1.4 miles a kwh. multiply that by 58 kw battery will give you the range.
If you go on their website, they show you drive range of this car at various outside temperatures. At zero degrees temperature it shows 231 miles. I don't get that even in summer even if I don't turn on the air con. Air con also drains it by 40%. I very very rarely use the air con. Would rather have windows open to save energy.
Ive only every driven this on the motorway 6 times. Leaving home says 220 mile range but empty after 120 miles if driven at 70mph. If driven at 60mph it can do 160 miles. That's in summer with air con off and windows open only by 2 cm to let in air. I wouldn't dare go on the motorway in winter.
By the way the miles per kwh the screen shows is a lie.
To work out the real miles per kwh one needs to calculate like this:
This drive cycle, 30% used. 58 times 0.3 will give you the number of kwh consumed 17.4.
Then divide the current cycle mileage driven by the kwh consumed.
For example 40 miles divide by 17.4 kw = 2.29 miles per kwh
      Then 2.29 *58= 133 miles on a full 100% charge.
I know for people who are recharging at home for 7p per kwh are praising this car because it costs pennies but if you're dependent on street parking at 70p per kwh that's £42 approximately. If that gives you 133 mile range 5 months of the year , that's way worse than a gas guzzling petrol car considering, one can't even use the heater in winter without getting a heart attack from the recharging bill.
It has been a complete mis-selling.
Please advise how to return this car to the crooked dealer who has been sending us pillar to post between manufacturer, VW finance and the dealer.
By the way, the build quality is really rubbish. You get a creaking noise from the dashboard when turning left or right. A permanent glare of the gleaming dashboard on the screen which is affecting my eye sight and the car randomly hits the break when there is nothing in front because a couple of seconds a go there was a car or cyclist in front. The car computer is slow that it has a lag. Given me multiple whiplashes.
Over priced milk float that's dangerous to drive. Twice I've had near misses from a motorbike and a moped from behind because the car abruptly hit the brake.
Also it hit the brake when half way out of a petrol station. Car coming from the right had to emergency brake as he didn't know why we would suddenly stop in the middle of the road for no reason.
Many other infotainment issues I won't even bother mentioning here.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

The stated performance is 5-80% in 35 minutes on a 58(62) battery. So 75% of 58 is 43.5 so in 35 minutes it needs to average 75kwh over that range. The best I’ve ever achieved was 72 on ionity once - all this has been scheduled out to Listers and VWs solicitors in detail and none of my figures have ever been challenged at all! Not anything. Not one charge, one number: nothing. It simply doesn’t perform ever at that stated level. In contrast my BMW i4 just hits the numbers ever single time

@@EXSKIN no he isn't talking about home charging. I was. Paying 50p/kwh is hardly a SCAM though is it? At current prices you would have to pay around 66p per kwh to be roughly the same as a petrol car that averages about 40mpg. If you think it's alright to pay £1.65 -£1.90 per litre on petrol or diesel, what's the issue? If people don't like EV's, they don't have to buy one do they?

Our company is offering employees a scheme called Salary sacrifice, which allows us to lease an electric car for very reasonable monthly payments and no deposit. My problem is that I live in a flat with nowhere to install a charger.
