As a 70 year old Canadian, I'm pretty much climatized to coild weather. I had no choice, I rather think warm would be better. I got lots of arctic gear, 3 generators, fuel, grub, beer, snow blower and a 4x4.
Texas here--survived the last several freezes just fine, but grew up in MN and WI. Always had warm clothes, food preps, and alternate heat sources. Fireplace will be roaring all night, and won't care about losing power or anything.
Excellent advice. Fortunately, I'm retired, so I can stay home when the roads are slick. I have a steep driveway, and with snow on it, I can't drive up it.
In my neck of the rural South, all day, they were out cutting tree branches near power lines. I'm honestly surprised they have the foresight to do it but I'm glad for it. People around here aren't ready to not have electricity and internet. You'd think so, but no 😢
Yeah they're predicting 4-6 inches here in North Alabama. That will shut everything down here. Luckily we have gas back up heat and a couple of big buddy heaters.
Take a Page out of a Michigan boys playbook, if you have to leave in a 4wd pickup drop tire pressure to 12 on the front and 8-10 on the rear. Not great for the tires but very effective.
I am in the N.E. Alabama area. The powers that be have called out the National Guard to prepare. Our backups have backups (we are prepared) we listen and follow the advice of prepping channels. Going somewhere is not an option for us, family member is very disabled and uses a wheelchair.
I used to fix a lot of frozen lines and most were preventable. Keep a trickle flowing from your faucets . It will save you a lot of money . If your on a well make sure you got heat tape or a heating light on your line .
I have electric, gas and a couple of years ago I installed a wood stove. Last year we got snowed in and the water went out for a few days, so get some jugs of water stored up as well. Good luck to everyone 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸⚔️🌎🔥
Oh good! I was hoping to see you, Tundra. Long story short, I know someone who is planning a completely "off-grid" "primitive" 7-10 day camping trip to Alaska this summer. Middle of nowhere. No cell signal. He's not going with any sort of group or guide. He insists he knows what he's doing. I have no idea if he really does or not. Anyway, you were the first person I thought of to ask about it (then a few others came to mind but you really were the first...) so, if you'd like to/have time, I have many questions that I'm dying to ask anyone with answers and I wouldn't mind some extra pointers that I can pass along to him. I'm worried he won't survive. He's not married nor does he have children, but he does still have family and friends who will miss him if it doesn't end well. You totally don't have to. I'm a complete stranger to you (as you are to me, though I do see you all over and often agree with you) and so is this guy, but I thought it was worth a try.
@TheViewFromAppalachia I'm strange too lol I'd take negative temperatures over triple digits any day of the week. You can always put more layers on but you can't take your skin off LOL
It is 23 feels like 13 roads already have snow on them. NE Tennessee. I have electric heat but for back up i have a propane heater with two 90lb tanks, propane grill with two 25lb tanks, lots of bread, pb, can food, water, eggs, rice and another walmart order to be delivered soon.More canned beans, corn and such. Not playing around.
I'm glad that I don't live up north where yall are, it's gonna be bad enough down here east of Mobile, Alabama , i hope and pray that our electricity doesn't go off...
Howdy neighbor. WE have about an inch on the ground still today and with these cold temperatures. We have had snow off and on tday even put light dusting on what we had already. I'm really dreading Fri storm . And my son is supposed to dialysis then too . Just praying worst will hold out so we can get him to cookville and back. Praying for all of us in path of the storms and those also affected by fires.
Lost track of how many winters I've spent here. It snows plenty enough to keep us amused. The grounds been covered for about three weeks now. The cold part of winter is still a week or two away yet. We average just over a hundred inches of snowfall per year here so there is still a long way to go. Stay warm and be well everyone.
Your channel popped up on my for you page I’m glad it did. I’m in the northeast corner of middle Tennessee. Stay warm stay safe and prayers my friends. 🙏🏽
@@outbackeddie So, this might seem weird, but, any tips for someone who's planning a 7-10 day "primitive" "off grid" camping trip in Alaska? I just found out a few hours ago a friend of ours is planning such a trip for this summer. He's not going with a guide or anything and I'm not so sure he really knows what he's doing even though he claims he does. Just don't want to see him not come home, if you know what I mean...
@@katie7748 go in June or July - that’s when we have the best weather. Also, pack mosquito repellant, pepper spray, and a gun suitable for bears. Also, even though June and July is the best weather, it can still be chilly and wet. Be sure to pack rainwear and warm clothes.
Had my stove going since Saturday and Buddy heater with big tank in garage. Northern Oklahoma. Birds aren't happy but remember they need water at least 2x a day.
I am at the age i really should care but dont to much because i decide if i go out and when. I have grown children who have reasons to be in the cold choice or job. But we dress to walk our dog. The wind is bitter. But we toughen' up by dressing for it. I was told to back in my vehicle so the sun clears the windshield also its easier to pull out not reversing.
This happened many years ago. Nothing new. Froze out the citrus crop and trees. But yes stay home. And you do NOT need bread and milk to get through this.
I have two kerosene heaters. And kerosene stored in the house. Because it's safer than storing propane in small containers with my setup. I am so, so grateful that I do. Edited to add: I just don't drive in this. I plan on being in the house with no power and if the power stays on, fantastic. Edited one more time to add: If you lose power and you know it's gonna stay cold for a while, drain your pipes and your hot water heater. Then put some antifreeze in your toilets and tub drains as well as sinks.
Spartanburg SC has been struggling to get out of the 40's during the days. In the 20's during the night. Well froze up yesterday. It going to get bad. The "Mr. Buddy" heaters go through two 1 pound propane tanks in no time. Better to have 2 "Little Buddy" heaters.
I'm so cold. It's in the 20s but so windy in Connecticut. I enjoyed the snow when younger but not now. I hate extremes. Yup some hot apple cider and a shot of Jack Daniel's sounds good. Slow down in the snow. Worse driving on 1 or 2 inches of slippery snow.
Just was on KC's latest. Our snow looked like it had a grey-ish tinge. It wasn't white - goodness knows what is in that crud. Edited to add our Met Office have been making up figures. No surprise there - probably why we had the "hottest" summer on record. A couple of weeks did not get close to 1976 - when our roads were melting!
NOPE, DONT like cold..next month will be 73 and that cold hurts our bones...Havent seen this bad weather for SE Oklahoma in a very long while..Got our wood stove already humming ect...
Meanwhile, we are having a very mild winter so far (40 degree days/32 degree nights) here in the WA, albeit with a lot of those mysterious foggy days I keep hearing about. From what I can tell, the excessive fog is about the only really unusual thing I'm seeing here, as far as weather goes. We haven't had a single snowflake yet, well, aside from some of the libs anyway lol.
I like snow we never know what kind of weather we get here in Indiana. I really dont like heat and humidity we get here in summer. I live in Southern Indiana.
MD, All, now is a great time to tell you all...fabulous vid on LA fires and sadly to do with the freeze too. Doug of Off Greid with doug and stacy last half talking about LA geoengineering. Interesting 🤔 What now do they want besides more death & destruction? I know its winter but still...cant help but wonder. Just saying. Great video, MD. 🎊Happy New Year, brother ✌️ ❤
Still Praying for those displaced families from the storm & floods
I think about them every day.
It really sucks when you have to work in it 12 hours, every day, all day.
As a 70 year old Canadian, I'm pretty much climatized to coild weather. I had no choice, I rather think warm would be better. I got lots of arctic gear, 3 generators, fuel, grub, beer, snow blower and a 4x4.
Buddy heaters help a lot . 20 lb propane tank will last 3 to 4 days on low with a buddy heater
I like the cold and am hot natured. It gets 28 degrees in central Alabama lots in Dec, Jan. My cows and sheep have been going through the hay.
Texas here--survived the last several freezes just fine, but grew up in MN and WI. Always had warm clothes, food preps, and alternate heat sources. Fireplace will be roaring all night, and won't care about losing power or anything.

Good.

Get your wood carried inside stocked up
26 degrees here this morning in Central Florida. Calling for hard freezes again tonight, too. Crazy weather everywhere.
Cold there
ND is finally ABOVE ZERO for the daily low. Thanks to the Breeze from the South East! Thanks my SOUTHERN KIN!
Living in central Alaska, I'm one of those that like cold weather.
You're a strange one lol

do not count on the Walmart delivery...
@jeanetteschulthe1andOnly My next meal is not depending on the delivery. I'm definitely well stocked up. Just a few more things is all.

That's not nothing live in the U.P. of Michigan, BUT I feel you.
Do what ever you need to stay warm, just be careful.
Very cold in Iowa here, of course, but no snow. Praying for all of you in the path of this storm. Have a great evening M.D. Prayers and hugs.
I like your coffee sign in the background! So True!
Thank you...

I hate the cold!! That’s why I live in the South😂
My brother's freezing in Florida.

Welcome to the channel.
Appalachiastan weather is no joke. Grew up in those Tennessee hills. It can be sunny one minute & then hit you with thick fog & a hail storm the next.
7in Snow ❄️ with 1in of Ice here in Central Eastern KY. 22 degrees but 15 degrees with wind-chill 🥶.. Preparing for 6in of more Snow ❄️ this weekend.
6 inches that is a dusting. In the U. P.
MD the south has more snow than we do up in Minnesota! We have zero snow on the ground so far this winter
I am in Anchorage Alaska, and we have more of the ground showing than snow. Very strange.

He's going mid-July. He's mentioned things for bears. Good point about it being wet. I'll make sure to pass along the tips. Thank you 😊
Like this new channel of yours. There is alot of Appalachia you can talk and show about. 👍
13° 6:38 KY Jan 9. May be able to get out today, to prep for the next blast. Prayers for all Helene victims.
I am in south Alabama. It is unusually cold here but no snow here, yet.
Thanks. Stay safe
When you slip on ice you fall at light speed!! She's my weather lady and Ryan Hall is my weather dude 🥶👍
Some of the roads in your area are dangerous in bone dry conditions.
I agree.
Had my stove going since Saturday and Buddy heater with big tank in garage. Northern Oklahoma. Birds aren't happy but remember they need water at least 2x a day.
I don't want any mess like we had this time last January in Nashville.
Summery, Knoxville has a hotter Weather Girl than Nashville. Lol. Stay home people, its going to get ugly and be prepared.
It's gonna be rough brother stay safe
You must be a g.d. genius , never would have thought to prepare !
I loved the cold back wgen I had my house with wood heat, now im renting single wide with heat pump 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
We got 4 inches of snow and about a inch of snow here in WV now and bigger snow coming Friday and Saturday
Funny, here in Montana ours is about the same. But we're going... awesome! It's warm for awhile!...lol. It's all prospective

I'm over in Columbia, TN from Ashland, KY to get propane moved
Paul Barris chattanooga says well get enough to make a snowman ⛄️
13 Degrees/ 8 wind chill. 5" snow Southern Indiana. More on the way.
14.9 inches of snow and ice was enough for me in KS but more tomorrow night 🥶

Hate this kind of weather. Spouse works for power company so I always am left at home alone to deal with power outages etc.
Look at the bright side, plenty of fire wood for next year.😊😊

I don’t mind the cold and the snow&ice I just don’t like the damage it does.😢

Yeah, I sent out an email to my newsletter subscribers and about the geoengineering yesterday.
We finally got our first freeze in south Texas…barely. We usually get a first freeze by first week of December.
I hate cold weather, comes with being old. Winter isn't that bad in Southern OK. tho.
I wish all these Yankees would go back up north and take their weather with them!
Im on the rain side. We shall see
It always freakes me out to see that dummy over your right shoulder. We had over 3 feet of snow over 48 hours and woke up this morning at -30°. Brrr
That's Bob. He isn't a threat 😊
Oh wow, that meteorologist is a HOTTIE! I LOVE redheads! 😍

Got to love global warming 😂
I would like to snuggle with Heather, I'm sweet like that.

It’s called winter!
