I just came back to 3d printing... Looking at that print makes me want to sell my saturn... the mighty is worlds ahead! I don't see any aliasing at all... awesome job!
@@col.festus Yeah big time! been subbed to them for just over two years now, very much worth it plusa great mix of things be it units, tanks or other big or small minis and they update older ones add to them every now and then as well :-)
Hi, what resin are you using? I’m having real trouble printing their pre-supported files, I’m using the same printer as you, I’ve slowed the lift speed, but there all coming off the supports during printing.
This is exactly what I've been looking for!! I've been trying to find the perfect bluish grey for krieg trench coats. Everywhere else I've looked they end up being way too blue. I picked up the ak paint you used. Great tutorial as well! You've got a new subscriber.
What I really struggle with is knowing where to highlight. I like seeing how you tackle it and where you put them. And now I need to find you varnish and try it out, he looks stunning when completed!
Keep taking the miniature in hand and pulling your arm away. What are you struggling to clearly see that you want to stand out, especially when it's not under intense light?
Awesome tutorial! I really liked the variety of paint brands you used so I could see how some new ones looked. I picked up the Vallejo steel after seeing how nice it looked here!
Oh also I am a huge fan of AKs paints they are brilliant quality at a very good price, pretty thin but very strong coverage be it with a paint brush or airbrush. The only ones I don't like a ton of are their metallic paints outside of a couple of them. But yeah AK are my go too paints for sure.
Trying to replicate this for my Kill Team - all signs on earth point to French Blue being basically a grey paint, and not this pale actual blue, any chance for a link to the one you used?
Thank you for launching your YT Channel and for bringing high quality painting techniques that are easy to replicate even for beginners. Keep up the good work !!
Great paint job, do you know where the backpacks came from? I have the base kit which doesn't seem to (unless i am blind) and can't see it any of the other kits.
Two reasons. 1st - it adds some vibrancy to all the colors even if you matte it after 2nd and more important it gives a much harder protective coat for gaming with.
Lovely job on this figure. Very inpressive speed painting. I often find when i use ultra matte varnishes on metallic paints it suckka all the shine out of them, to the point where they look like a weird grey rather than a metallic effect. Is there some property of the vms which prevents this? I generally use ak ultra matte, which is great, but its absolute dead matte...
I love the guide! Do you know where you got the backpacks from? I am printing some Korpsmen out as I type this but I am definitely missing a bit of the WWI aesthetic without the rolls on their backs!
@@col.festus Currently printing at the default 0.05 so I might need to up my game. I've seen several requests for Universal Guard - looking forward to it!

Increase your exposure time if the supports are failing.

What I really struggle with is knowing where to highlight. I like seeing how you tackle it and where you put them. And now I need to find you varnish and try it out, he looks stunning when completed!
Yeah! Eventually I just have a feel for where they go, but usually you highlight where you want the eye drawn, or when failing that the highest spots.

just tried to use french blue for the first time and it definately comes out as grey i am a bit confused how col festus came out so blue

@@col.festus aah, ok! I was wondering the same thing ...
Beautiful, any chance we might see a Univerial guard next?
Not sure about next but you will 100% see UG up here
Great job! What benefit does the first gloss varnish have though?
Adds protection for gaming
Which black do you use for the rim of the base at the end, it seems super smooth!
It’s called Amsterdam Black Ink
Beautiful work!
Why the gloss varnish, just to matte varnish after?
Two reasons.

2nd and more important it gives a much harder protective coat for gaming with.
Great work, gonna paint my the same, big inspiration !
Question: where do you found the backpack? cant find it in the veteran files or anyway else ?!
Patreon exclusive
Great video and thank you for sharing! I was wondering, what is the reasoning behind using the gloss varnish before applying the matte varnish?
Indestructible paint job :) it makes it tough as nails for gaming.
@@col.festus Sweet! Thanks for the reply :)

Yup! I dunno what it is but VMS matte is the
Bomb, reminds me of old school dullcoat
Could one use the VMS varnish with a brush ?
I believe it’s designed to be used with an airbrush, I have brushed it on in small areas without an issue
Really cool paint job. Are the pre supports on their files any good ?
They’re the best, I use all their stuff presupported
@@col.festus awesome !

I got them from the makers cult discord. For subscribers they have aftermarket backpacks in the links section for download.
Very nice color scheme !
How much time did you take for one model from start to finish ?
Pretty quick. Maybe an hour or so
Where are the backpacks from as far as I know that kit doesn't come with any

What layer height do you print at? Do you do any other prep work such as sanding? Thanks!
0.02, no sanding!

@@edwardthomas4152 I will definitely be doing printing videos as some point
Why did you add the gloss varnish step and not go to matte varnish immediately?
I find it adds alittle richness to the colors and more importantly it make the model way more durable for playing games.
Hey man, what song is playing in the background? Seems like very melancholic violin blues
It is! It’s a stock moody strings from adobe rush :)
heh, unexpected@@col.festus

where do you get the backpack?
They’re from the makers cult patreon. They are in the misc files section only accessible to patrons
What kind of resin did you use?
4:1 mix of phrozen aqua 8k grey to phrozen onyx impact
Have you tried the Daler Rowney India Ink? Do you still like the Amsterdamn over it?
I have not yet!
