I agree. I’m 63 and my husband is 72. People always ask why we don’t buy, because we can afford it, but the math doesnt add up to us. We kind of like earning interest on the money we made selling our house in the U.S. We rent for $850.
Chapala is a great place San Antonio too I know those towns and streets well. For years. And Chapala home with private pool. All are practical. Great neighborhoods
Ha, ha! The prices are higher in some popular areas, but certainly the outlaying areas remain economical, too, so it's better to look toward areas that will be pulled into the community AFTER it grows a bit more. If Ajijic is expensive, Jaco is a bit less and further around the lake it can be much cheaper, etc.
Please drive thru the best neighborhood and show us around such as the drive from the homes to the grocery stores, etc. Is there fishing 🎣 at the lake too ? Community swimming 🏊♂️ pools with clubhouses ?
I have $60,000 and I’m getting an international studies degree next spring. My parents are from the neighboring village of Potrerillos but I would love to purchase in Chapala and start a business. I’m 22.
Sounds great! This Friday 5 PM California time I will be interviewing Memo who lives in Lo del Marcos on $500 a month for two people. and building a home and he lives off of his Social Security.
I have lived in Ajijic for a total of 3 years and moved to Mazatlan, on the beach, but didn't like it. Came back to FL in October of 23 but will returning to Ajijic around July 3. I found renting is by far cheaper. El Dorado is first class and only about 1800 to 2300 a month. Then moved to a 3000 sq foot place in Upper Chula Vista for 2100 that included gardner, internet, and a really nice maid 3X per week. All were beautiful and furnished and super safe. It might sound high priced but try South Florida....I came back and am paying FAR more for FAR less. As far as buying, I never understood why anyone would buy anywhere in Mexico...you will never sell it...just my take.
I think there's places in the United States that are cheaper than the daily living expenses. And also living in the United States if you do get Medicare that's a bonus because of Mexico you can't use Medicare.
I just love those arched brick ceilings ❤❤❤
Wow. You drove in my old neighborhood where I rented in La Floresta. Much desired neighborhood in Ajijic. Great location. Beautiful home
Oh wow!
If you're over 65, it'll be cheaper to rent than to buy. You'd be lucky to have 15 good healthy years left.

Some people like the security of owning.
@@kimhicks4781 I understand that, and this is our first time renting in our 40 years married. But, I’m still on the fence about buying here.
Im used to having my own home that I can paint and decorate, I tried renting and felt very uncomfortable.

You are right. Bad time to buy with the bubble. What goes it must come down .
You can buy a new home in a community in La Paz for 100K. Just recently viewed a home in a community.

How is healthcare? Are there plenty of hospitals and doctors in case you have an emergency or need to see a doctor?
