TRY is your new home on RUclips. A place where people try things for the first time. Similar to popular RUclips channels such as BuzzFeed, WatchCut, GMM & TheFineBros' React, our goal is to create content to entertain you and to bring a positive light to the start or end of your day.
TRY Channel: "Here, try this whiskey."
Darren: *sips* "Ah, yes. This was distilled by a one-armed man on a Tuesday, 21 years ago. The weather threatened rain that day, but no rain fell."
The funny part is that the guy scoffed at him when he said its tripple distilled, but he is just that good.
@@jormungandr4690 A good, funny part is that Tom Fanning didn't scoff at Darren in ridicule---he scoffed incredulous that he knew so much.
it's scary how good darren is
every man has a real talent, Darren & Ciara both LOVE their alcohol :)
Except when it come to dumplings....
lol
At what?
Impressive Ciara and Darren both indeed!!! Salud chingones🍻
❤
Let's just all bow down to Darren. The Master is here!
Oooh, but will he get fired for missing a Jameson product!? 😮
That's F*cking Teeling! I died laughing knowing he'd get it
Dermot & Darren together ....hilarious
@@SilverJay7 he's recognized it before. Which either speaks to how good Teeling is to the taste, or Darren is as a taster.
IKR❤️
Master Taster!
🇮🇪🥃🇯🇵
🕊️💚🎶
Tell her she's just discovered she likes Japanese whiskey, that's not a shame it's an expansion of joy
Darren continues to amaze me at his knowledge and skills of his whiskey tasting. I found it kinda amusing that Eadaoin was really trying to identify and choose the Irish whiskey, but chose the Japanese one each time. 😅
The Teeling 24 year single malt is US$1,000 per bottle as of 4-17-2023. I'll never be able to afford to drink a drop!
Sean and Colin also have a bottle of Teeling 30 in their studio that's $2054.99.
And I see that Japan also has a 30 year old blend going for $9999.99
Got to get a group of friends to share the cost.
No wonder I’d not heard of it before.
In Oregon, where the state controls hard liquor, there isn't any Teeling 24. There is the Teeling 30 for $2199.95. A liquor store in Albany has the entire state's supply of it with a total of 3 bottles.
@@FlintIronstag23 You can't buy any online?
Eadaoin had the perfect description: " smells like whiskey, I'm getting notes of....whiskey"!! Exactly how I like my whiskey.....smelling like whiskey and tasting like whiskey.
Paddy took this one on the understated strength of some of his remarks. Even though Eadoin became an honorary Japanese citizen
Darren needs to be hired to run whiskey tasting events.
I think that is what he does for a living
You'll be happy to know he does just that as a part of his "real" job.
@@deanbrunner261 it shows. The man knows his whiskey
@@DJKuroh well at least we know he's in the right career, lol
I know this sounds crazy to someone outside the whisky world, but running a tasting is much more complicated than this, and every person consider themselves whisky enthusiast would know that mistake any redbreast with Jameson black is outrageous.
Sometime when you do a tasting battle, don’t reveal what the two countries are. Mystery tasting-you won’t be trying to guess which one is Irish. It’s easier to pick the one you truly prefer. Unless you are Darren and he will probably know which is Irish anyway.
Yes, agreed.
Y’all drinking whiskey is the most Irish thing ever. Plus, the whiskey expert(Darren) is in a whiskey video. Well done TRY Channel.
I love the respect that Paddy has for the liquor that he never leaves a drop in the glass.
Does Darren have a whiskey channel on the RUclipss? If not, he should
And it could be called “Drinking with Darren”. Simple and to the point.
I'd love to see him on the YT channel called Whiskey Tribe. His knowledge would fit right in with them, and their senses of humor would mix with him in an odd, but probably great, way.
There are MANY whisky channels and nothing Darren does here qualifies him to even talk about whisky.
I would definitely watch that channel.
@@NotQuiteEpic - and what exactly “qualifies” someone to talk about whiskey?
This is the greatest thumbnail EVER!!! 🤣
😎
Hahahahah i conquer
Doing 8 full shots of whiskey in less than an hour would put most of us in a happy place. Good going, Niall and Paddy.
I could manage half. The full eight I legit wouldn't last to the end of the shoot.
The pairing of Thomas and Darren was BRILLIANT!!! The "every man" Thomas with the SEASONED Master. Thomas chose what he liked and Darren explained why
After hearing the price, I'd have finished the Teeling myself...😊😊.
Darren keeps impressing me with his
whisky knowledge. Well done all…
I think Thomas and Darren are totally on the same wavelength and level of whiskey appreciation - they just express it differently. And if you enjoyed the drinks, wherever they're from, then it's a fine day. Well done all - slainte!
Eadaoin is the Queen of Style on these shoots. Always knocks it out of the park.
Not only is she good with Whiskey but love her hair style. Makes me want to do that ❤
Eadaoin is more fun than a barrel of monkeys!
And she has the coolest fucking name!
I really miss Martin and Brian, hope they come back soon.
Martin and darren together
@@CCoburn3 know what happened to Davey. The scumbag
@@CCoburn3 wasn't Davey the guy with long ish black hair? The kinda one that was rapey or something?
@@CCoburn3 well I was referring to why they didn't want him back. It was on one of the Tryers Post Facts updates or shortly after they started Try and that's what they said. He had issues with saying one thing and doing another. There was a situation that's all I remember it was years ago now.
I LIVE for Darren being bang on recognizing Teeling 24. 😂
It's not a Whiskey shoot without Darren telling you exactly what he's drinking at least once.
Love how Seamus ends the episode basically deciding to go get drunk in the woods
Japanese, Irish, whiskey is good no matter where its from
Scotch? Are we having that debate? 😅
Agreed, but bourbon is a little too sweet for my taste (and Canadian is too)
love rye though
Love you Seamus! Videos with you are always a pleasure!
I guess you've never tried Old Crow, which, as far as I can tell is made from dead, fermented birds.
The real whiskey is the friends we made along the way.
Thank God you finally had Eadaoin doing a Whiskey Try! She was outstanding, even though she picked all of the Japanese shots. I also love watching Paddy and Niall getting locked! This was a great video!! 10/10!
"Go off into the whiskey forest and commune with the whiskey spirits." 😂 Friggin awesome!!
I've become a true lover of Tullamore DEW. During the pandemic, my local establishment was struggling to get Jameson. So, they started carrying Tullamore instead. I instantly became a huge fan. It's like a perfect marriage. The main label is aged in used bourbon barrels. That charred oak finish and the angel's notes of bourbon left in the wood smooth Tullamore out so much more and so much faster. They also make a whiskey finished in rum barrels, which I don't recommend, and one finished in sherry barrels that I've yet to try.
I was lucky enough to tour the distillery in November of 2021 when I could finally take my trip that had been on hold for close to 2 years.
Darren is that one friend that u want to go drinking with because he'll know the best places. 😂
I think a whole series of the Try crew taking the Bourbon Trail tour through the US would be amazing.. and I'm sure every member would be 100% on board with it!
Y'know, I'm from the US, but both sides of my family going back 4 generations are half Irish or more, every parent and grandparent. Raised celebrating Ireland and her culture, the food, the music, etc.
I desperately love when y'all get the folk in here experiencing and comparing Irish goods vs. similar wares from other lands. What a great episode this was.
Darrens taste is amazing. Tip of the hat to you sir.
“It feels….triple distilled.” Darren is just too damn good. I’d be “it feels….like whiskey”.
Been asking for this video from you guys for a year+ now. Glad to see it was almost what I expected. Though I was hoping for more pairings of Japanese whiskey's (Hibiki) that matched the profiles of the various Irish ones (Glendalough). The single malts were nice, too. Still, excellent bottles, and am glad you got Seamus on for this one. Good catch on Darren, as always, on noticing the softness of triple distilled in Irish.
Darren Lalor: (at 8:40) That's fookin' Teeling! That's one of the older Teelings. 24 or 30.
WOW!!! Well done! (tips cap)
Did you notice how the editors made the music stop right when Darren said that?
@@thatdudeinorange5269 Nice touch that.
The try channel is wonderful. Please never change ❤
I'll like the video if you can get Seamus and Eadaoin to switch outfits next time!
Seamus and Eadaoin hanging their heads in shame was a classic Try moment!!!
Honest to God, Darren would make serious bank if he did nothing but whiskey tours. His pallet is seriously top notch.
Darren gets a 10/10 for his whisky tastebuds.
"Yeah, I like this one more than that one" would be about as far as I could get.
Always happy to see any and all of you. Love the pairs this time. Darren, I always learn from you! And Niall, you hair is looking so pretty! Love it. Thanks for the fun!
Darren is just amazing. He must be one of those people with super taste buds.
Dumpling Darren does know his whiskey. (Yeah, I gave him the name because well, watch the dumpling trying video) LOL.
Also ''Pitting two countries against each other" is the bomb statement!
Yoichi is now $65-70 in my area. Absolute steal at that price. They also have Teeling 32 and 33 at a nearby shop... for $3k and $3.3k respectively. For a 30+ year old whiskey that's fair enough but way outside my budget.
Darren is a friggin' whiskey savant.
We all need to chip in to get Darren a really nice suit and fedora, and help him open a super chill jazz club where they serve high end whiskeys and cigars. I don't think you could find a more perfect person for the job.
Darren is a human cheat code...jeez. I don't even drink whiskey and would put all my faith in him if I did!
BONUS POINTS FOR TRY CHANNEL for the correct Whisky/Whiskey spellings. The originators of Japanese Whisky studied in Scotland and therefore it is spelled without the "e". (Just realized you may have just copied the spelling from the bottle. BONUS POINTS for being observant.)
I love that Tullamore Dew was represented! It's one of my favorites, and I've been drinking it for years. They just released a Rum Cask finished edition, which was also lovely. Cheers
"Whisky forest and commune with the whisky fairies" instant classic.
Darren, no clue if you have a whisk(e)y channel or not, but you need one. Very good you are. Being a Merican, I can very much respect your ability to nose and taste the spirit, and your tasting notes. Much better than some (not this video) "burn!!! this one burns more!!!!!"
Standing Ovation for Darren. Well done sir! Slainte 😊
How do you not have Hibiki in a Japanese whiskey showdown?!
I was thinking the same thing. Definitely better Japanese selections they could have picked!
Love seeing you guys doing a drinking video, it's always good for some laughs. Thank you for brightening my day❤❤❤❤
I love these types of video and I am always amazed are Darren being a whisky wizard
The piano crash at the double head drop....fine point there!
Having tasted whiskies from around the World, I have always chosen Scottish Malt Whisky every time (bias) 😁🏴
Irish comes second and Japanese third.
Darren did well, we need the Try team to do a Scottish Malt Whisky challenge mixing different countries whiskies. 😁
Episode had a sever lack of Dermot
How much fun would it be to go out drinking with Darren? What a master!
Was so excited to see Darren!
“I’m getting notes of whiskey”. Love it!
Weird how all of the 3 big whiskey drinkers are absent. Where is Ciara, Dermot and Martin?
I'd 100% put Darren in that group, and he's actually the most knowledgeable on whiskey out of the 4 of them. The man knows his shit.
@@Patryn71 Yea I didn't know until I watched the vid. He actually nails some of those whiskeys just by taste.
I agree, the tryers you listed are pretty much the Holy Trinity of TRY, but when they're absent - Darren by himself is more than capable to carry the show.
Éadaoin's shirt is really nice; the print has a warm tasteful summer feel to it. 😊
Darren: It feels like it has been triple distilled. Thomas just releases air in total astonishment and adoration.
Holy hell just few minutes in and I have to do this myself with a few friends ! Awesome video so far :) FRAKKIN great video, got to do this one again !!! Just 6 different tryers PLEASE !!! Going to do this for our Memorial Cup party and add a third too. Being Canadian will add three Canadian Whiskeys as well. Going to text my bros and get everybody to bring a specific bottle and nine bottles wont bankrupt me ......lmfa0
Would've loved to hear Darren's opinion on some Suntory whiskies like Yamazaki or Hibiki. Yamazaki 12 is definitely one of my favorites.
Dayummm Darren spittin KNOWLEDGE
Darren the Whiskey Master!! Cheers to all!!
The only thing different is between each shot take a sip of water to clear your palette, and you'll be able to get better tasting notes between each whiskey.
I too wish to “go off into the whiskey Forrest and commune with the whiskey spirits.”😂😂😂
"no fungible teeling" is kinda nice
Drinking whiskey whilst watching this
Darren is on another level
These are the conversations I want to have while drinking whiskey.
geez Darren's knowledge of whiskey is amazing
I wish you'd put up a final score, both over all and ranking the "Irishness" of the various tryers'. That way we'd know for sure which Tryer(s) should be banished to some other island nation.
I now learned when tasting whisky it’s better to have a mustache then a full beard, thank you 😊
The whisk(e)y videos are my favorite on this channel.
This shows just how hard a professional whiskey tasters job is , and why a master distiller is worth their weight in cases of whiskey, it helps if you have an above average palate and smell , nice shoot , new york
As soon as the Redbreast came up, I knew Darren would be smiling
Too many are doing this as a game of "figure out which country it's from, and find the Irish one" instead of "Which one do you prefer".
“I’m getting notes of Whiskey” 🤣🤣🤣
As a Japanese, watching this video makes me proud of Japanese whisky.
I KNEW Darren would get the Teeling
To Niall's glorious mane, Paddy's quips, Darren's discerning palate, Thomas' laymaning about, and to Seamus and Eadaoin... the Whiskey Spirits will likely tell you, "Chin up!" after seeing you hang your heads.
Love the content just hope next time they match the aging years, because it would be hard to find a whiskey aged 5-7 years that would beat a whiskey aged 24 years on aroma, and taste
Gotta give props to Darren... he's always nails the alcohol videos.
Great study in Biases :) plus i absolutly love Éadaoin's personality
Darren needs to become a Whiskey reviewer. He is a Legend. 8:39.
"It feel likes it's been triple distilled."
-Darren Lalor
It Darren wasn't in this video, nobody would have said that. Maybe, Ciara. Then again.
I think Darren is easily more knowledgeable than Ciara when it comes to whiskeys. She might be able to drink them all under the table and make a mean cocktail, but when it comes down to a neat pour and being able to identify it, Darren wins hands down.
Eadeoin is absolutely rocking in that top!
Whiskey, out of most other types of spirits, changes radically when you add water down to around 20% whiskey to water. Which is why it tastes so different when you take different sips as the ice melts (and why you don't want the clear, slow-melting ice cubes unless you want to wait 15 minutes to finish your whiskey). So it's not really a complete comparison when just having it neat (assuming it's room temp).
Yes, where is leather jacket guy and Irish Jesus? Miss them! ☮️❤️
Darren you are my whiskey drinking hero!!!
Eadoin always has amazing style and keen remarks. Definitely want to try a few of these after her and Darren’s remarks 😸
Could you please place chapters for each tasting in the video navigation bar?
Anyway ... thanks for another awesome video
Non-fungible Teeling, I love you Darren.
Tullamore Dew goes down like water, and that's why it's a favorite for shots, and for hot toddies.
NFT - Non Fungable Teeling...LMAO....Now that was a Martin-esque whiskey comment. Touché sir...Touché
"Which child do you choose to die?" Best line in the video! 🤣
Kurayoshi and Togouchi are imported scotch bottle in Japan, Nikka from the barrel is a blend of scottish and Japanese whisky... so basically only the nikka discovery was actually Japanese whisky..
I remember the first time I tried proper nihōnshu sake. It was a lot stronger than I thought it would be, and to that point, was the strongest alcohol I'd had in my life.
Only alcohol every to make me stumble on just three shots.... Elon could use it for rocket fuel :)
Sake is typically only about the same abv as wine.
