I'm a Pewdiepie fan and a whisky fan. I didn't know of your channel but by some kind of RUclips algorithm your video on beginners whiskies was suggest to me. I saw this one on the sidebar, I've got to say it was really interesting to see your opinion in a non condescending way and just overall enthusiasm about whisky! Your channel is very nice/10.
He just did a Scotch one and plan on doing a Irish whisky one so we can only hope. Hopefully @Whiskey Vault can make a review of his future videos too, that be nice.
My lead in to this channel was Modern Rogue's video with them. It was actually a really good Whiskey intro, too. ruclips.net/video/M-rjtG_CHzU/видео.html

When I watched the video I was impressed by him being so down to earth with it all. He didn't shit talk other types of whiskeys, he talked about the cheap whiskeys being nice alongside the more expensive ones. I was expecting it all to be a big joke to him to be honest.
I feel like I am about to enter confession here but . . . . I have never tried a Japanese whisky. I have always thought I should. Now I feel like I have been missing out!
I had only tried mainstream whiskys and not really enjoyed it, but when I came to Japan and got Yamazaki (12 year) served I finished eight glasses before the night was done haha :D Very mild alcohol taste with a strong and slightly sweet vanilla taste that I adored.
You guys need to conspire with PewDiePie. You should have him review your whiskeys when they hit the market. Instant demand. Great to see how you guys handled this. You didn't bash him like so many others would have. You just corrected a few small errors in a friend way. Very Nice.

In recent years I've started to get a taste for whiskey (especially bourbon). Up until now I've mostly stuck to the big brands (Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Four Roses, Canadian Club) and always the most basic versions. After seeing PewDiePie's vid, and about 40 of yours today alone, I've just ordered close to 300 dollars worth of whiskey (and 4 glencairn glasses): - Highland Park 12 - Johnnie Walker Double Black - Four Roses Small Batch - Buffalo Trace - Jameson Caskmates and the kicker: - Hibiki Harmony already in my cabinet: - Jim Beam White Label - Canadian Club - Forrester 86 proof Hope you like my list, tried to get something of everything in there.
As someone new to whiskey...have been drinking since January 2017, I fail to get the tasting notes that you guys talk about. Though the only one I could try that you talked about was Jack Daniels because here in India this stuff is nearly double the price. But you guys do make me appreciate and love whiskey more and more. Thanks a million. Also pewds is love and I hope he mentions you guys.
Satvik Shah, thank you for watching! The more times you drink whiskey, the more you acclimate to the alcohol burn, and begin to taste the flavors underneath. Just takes some time. 👍
If you think if you think your prices are bad let me make you feel better about your prices. In a US online liquor store a 750ml standard Jack Daniels costs $16.99. Here in my nation from the government liquor monopoly a 700ml bottle of the same is $54.33.
Super helpful. I only wish you had wide shots of the bottles when you were tasting them. I don't speak Japanese. Would've been great to compare the two videos.
I went out this week and got Toki, Yamazaki 12 and TAKETSURU pure malt. I had to search far and wide just to find them. Hibiki Harmony is no where to be found. I'm shopped in north and central NJ. You're closing comments about how Felix's video is affecting the Japanese whiskey market is absolutely true and anyone watching should go out and stock up while you can. Since watching Felix's video I'm starting down the path. Since watching your video in response, you will be my guide.
Love this video guys. I haven't tried a whole lot of Japanese whisky and been looking for more to buy. I have a bottle of Harmony (which I love!) as well as Nikka Coffey Grain, Nikka Tsakasuru Pure Malt, and Kikori but that's all. I've seen Yamazaki at a few small liquor stores around town but it's always really expensive so I've never bought a bottle. I see Hakushu all the time so I'll def have to pick that up and also try to find the Yoichi bc that sounded like something I'd really like! I recently saw the Togouchi in a local supermarket recently and was going to ask you about it bc I had no idea what it was. It was a NAS blend for $45 so prob nothing close to what that 18yo he tried is like. Might try it just for kicks.
Great content guys! Love me some Japanese Whisky, and the history behind it. Spent a lot of time in the Philippines and Tokyo, and got to try them at a deeply discounted price. For me: Yamazaki 18 (still my top behind Lagavulin) > Nikka Yoichi (love most things I've tried from them [From the Barrel, The Nikka) > Hakushu 12 > Hibiki 17 > Yamazaki 12 > Hibiki 12. Haven't tried the other two Nikkas yet. Thanks again - cheers!
I'm so glad you guys covered Japanese whiskeys. We have the Santori here in our tiny rural PA liquor store. On a whim I tried it with a friend of mine, as we had never even heard of Japanese whiskey, and were blown away. It almost tasted like its own complete type of unique whiskey. Since then, I'll pick up a bottle every couple of months. Another real unique whiskey I've found (and found not many discussing) is a French whiskey named Bastille. Very floral. Very smooth. With some smoke notes but more so as a part of the cast instead of the lead role. Highly recommended trying it if you can get it in your area
I don't personally like Japanese style whisky to be fair. I had a Nikka Single Malt with my dad that just had this very distinct spirit taste that is very reminicent of rubbing alcohol. This overpowered every taste that was in the whisky to begin with. I am more of a fan of a smooth, round and slightly creamy textured Scottish whisky.
Went back to the same bottle, to correct myself it was actually an imported Nikka Blended whisky but put it in a tulip glass instead of a normal half pint liquor glass and the actual taste of the whisky is so much better. Next time I buy a whisky I might consider the Nikka or the Suntory. Thanks for the tulip glass tip guys!
hehe i didn't saw the Pewdiepai video before watching yours, now I see that He likes Lost in translation to :D. Long story short, for me you are the guys to introduce me to PewDiePai content.
loved that your video didn't end up being a buzzfeed style clickbait video. on a side note, if at all... try checking out Pure Scot, i found that to be a very friendly whisky.
Collecting whisky is something I started slowly before watching this channel…now a new bottle a week is not unusual. Using the Nick Offerman method to drink whisky has insured my collection is still growing and I am only down a couple bottles since the beginning. Sharing a dram with friends has become a new thing but Rex has made me realize sharing just adds to the enjoyment. Thanks for all the episodes and keep them coming! Sei Gesund!
Haha! After a rewind you definitely said "peat smoke." Maybe one of these videos you could troll Daniel about how you are totally getting notes pepperoni pizza.
I was actually confused at first because I didnt realize Nikka had two different whiskys made with the coffey still. I loooove the coffey grain whisky.
Shit, already past 11k... I'm pretty sure PewDiePie poured all of those whiskies into the same glass... Don't just send him 1 Glencairn, send him a box. I wouldn't worry about his fan base buying up all the Japanese whisky, 'cause I'm not sure 90% of them are legally able to drink it.
I am a Pewdiepie sub and I purchased my first bottle of Whisky from his recommendation. Nikka from the barrel. I found this video from researching Japanese whisky. I have a question : once a bottle has been opened must it be finished by any certain amount of time or will it be ok if left for days/weeks/months etc
Great choice! You have a few years if you keep it sealed and out of direct sunlight. Once the bottle is down to 1/2 or 1/4 you may want to transfer it to a smaller container. If you plan on finishing the whole thing inside of 6 months, you're good to go.
@@WhiskeyVault i have never tried japanese whiskey ever which would you recommend. should i get the nikka from the barrel it doesnt seem to ship to the USA
A blended whisky can be a malt whisky, if I'm not mistaken. It just means there's no grain whisky mixed with the single malt whiskies that make up the blend.
Honestly I thumbed you down thinking you were just trashing Pewdie Pie,but after watching the full video you guys were fair realizing Whiskey 🥃 tasting is a complex thing to comment on. Thumbs up 👍and a subscribe 🇺🇸

And wow this is pretty polite and well made video. quite amazed it didnt end up as shit talking pewdiepie. good video friends, and it was quite very nice
These fantastic men discuss Whisky/Whiskey the same way, my friends and I discuss Comics and Comic Book Culture. And I appreciate that love and passion they have for Whiskey, and being a younger collector and have a passion for good whiskeys, they excite me for the future, when I have more money for these beautiful liquors
Hey! Guys, what would be better for whiskey storing when a moderate and consistent climate isn't viable? Is a fridge better than letting it get over 95°?
Started back into whisk(e)y on Suntory products, specifically the Toki. My second purchase was the Nikka "From the barrel". I have yet to try the Hibiki Harmony, but I do have plans to get some. I can't seem to find the Hakushu and Yamazaki bottlings, and that's annoying.

We can only hope.
Can you add the list of the Whiskeys you try? this is a big help for us trying to follow along.
Whiskey Vault Thanks guys
Whiskey Vault I had been meaning to ask that. Great to know.
Yes! Although a blended malt will usually say "blended malt". If it says only "blended scotch" it has grain whisky as well.
Right!
Honestly I thumbed you down thinking you were just trashing Pewdie Pie,but after watching the full video you guys were fair realizing Whiskey 🥃 tasting is a complex thing to comment on. Thumbs up 👍and a subscribe 🇺🇸
I just watched the PewDiePie video...WOW! I guess he has an audience, but for anyone serious wanting truthful information and unbiased opinions on whiskey, your channel is one of the BEST!
And wow this is pretty polite and well made video. quite amazed it didnt end up as shit talking pewdiepie.
good video friends, and it was quite very nice
These fantastic men discuss Whisky/Whiskey the same way, my friends and I discuss Comics and Comic Book Culture. And I appreciate that love and passion they have for Whiskey, and being a younger collector and have a passion for good whiskeys, they excite me for the future, when I have more money for these beautiful liquors
what do you guys think about the bullet rye behind you ?
it's tasty. I dig it.
NAZAHA it’s my favorite rye! Better than Templeton
Hey! Guys, what would be better for whiskey storing when a moderate and consistent climate isn't viable? Is a fridge better than letting it get over 95°?
Yes. Absolutely.
Sköl from Russia guys!
I absolutely love the vibe and attitude of this channel. (could have something to do with the slightly heavy alcohol consumption)
I really want to try these whiskeys no one around my area sells them are there any websites where I could buy them
Try out Master of Malt

Started back into whisk(e)y on Suntory products, specifically the Toki. My second purchase was the Nikka "From the barrel". I have yet to try the Hibiki Harmony, but I do have plans to get some. I can't seem to find the Hakushu and Yamazaki bottlings, and that's annoying.
emmm Veri Nais.. Veri Nais......
watching this and listening to you guys makes me wanna start drinking whisky. you just earned yourself a subscriber.

@@esvi9818 you know there are 7 billion humans who could've think the same thing and comment the same thing. Just bcus you thought of this same comment, doesn't mean other people haven't too, you entitled piece of shit load. My first experience of drinking whiskey did taste like my throat was on fire and so many people could agree if it was their first time. Lmao, you really out here calling me out, "Stolen" and "Comment"
Liked the all the JD reviews, but would love to hear your thoughts on George Dickel. Especially the rye and Superior 12
Rex, Im just going to go out on a limb and guess that this video was suggested by you. Rather smart move my man ;)
nailed it.
Still It, 👍
Jimmy Leg, The people who pay the bills like to see numbers. I can do numbers 😉
@JimmyLeg, haha dude. I was not being sarcastic. That was a genuine show of respect dude. The man acts like a mooch for the drink, but he knows his shit for the media/YT stuff. Jumping on that opertunity was pretty slick. Not a lot of those come around for a channel like this!
He's only acting like a mooch? Nooooooooooo
I'm a whiskey beginner and broke, but Suntory Red is pretty nice if you have it on the rocks and let the ice melt juuust a little. It's also dirt cheap, though. A decent sized bottle can still be under ¥1000
