Japan has given the world a grand offering of whiskys to the world. With the Rugby World Cup being held in Japan at the moment, we thought what better time to get our hands on some Nikka Whisky and some Suntory Whisky and see what our TRYers thought of them!

As soon as I read Try Japanese Whisky, you and Martin are the only two I wanted in this video. Used to regularly buy Yamazaki 12 until it became popular and jumped to 270 a bottle but it was everything I ever wanted in a whisky

You can always place a bet when Martin, Dermot, Brian or Ciara say "That's lovely, Grand, etc.:" when they cut back to Lolsy she is having a ugh whiskey face moment. But hey she has taken to bringing her own mixer. Had to love the reactions to made in Ireland and Scotland whiskies.

It's actually really cool to see the ethnic mix with the peeps here. I'm traditionally Irish/English and I can see physical traits in different people in this vid. Dunno why I felt the need to point that out but I'm drunk and had a mini realisation about my heritage.

Question: If a whiskey is Made in Glasgow, is it Japanese? Or is it, by definition, Scotch?
Japanese conglomerate Suntory owns Morrison Bowmore Distillers. The three main distilleries include Bowmore, Auchentoshan, and Glen Garioch. They also owned Macallan from '94 to '99 - I remember that well, because Macallan 25 yr jumped from ~$115 to over $250 a bottle when Suntory owned them.
Scotch Whisky is made in Scotland. Whiskey is the Irish version and is also used for US whiskeys using the same process.
@@9SmartSand6 $250 a bottle for Macallan 25yr sounds like the ultimate bargain compared to today's prices. In Oregon, it's $2000 a bottle with the 18yr going for $285.
When I was living in Canada in the early 90's you could get the 25yr old for $125. Oh, how I miss those days....
It's only called scotch if it's bottled (and produced, duh lol) in Scotland. But yeah, a lot of Japanese whisk(e)y is basically scotch :)

Hibiki is by far the best Japanese whisky. Unfortunately, it's gone silly prices now. And on the new method of cheers clinking.. how clean are the pubs is Dublin?
