I only live a few hours from this, and have never been there, so I'm really glad to see this, I will have to check it out! Love, A Texan who eats beans in her chili :)
When you fill up your tank maybe do your dishes right there. Then top off your tank with water. If you have a chance look up egg cookers. I use mine all the time and have one in my camper also. They hard boil eggs super fast with very little water. You can do about 7 at a time.
Definetly one of my fav van channels at the moment I enjoy vancity van life as well but Ryan's very good at these videos and always makes 10 outa 10 videos !
Looked damn good! The nice thing about chili is that it's so versatile! Like corn in it? Roast some up and slice it in! Want it hotter? Easy! I personally love to have some roasted serrano and Anaheim peppers, even hatch green chilis add some pop to it. I grew up in a house that did it with beans, but spice wise we kept it very Tex-Mex. When you have extra mouths to feed, the beans stretch the recipe and can add a lot of extra flavor and texture. I realized I didn't say what type of beans, so stretching out the recipe with some kidney beans bulks up the recipe, and some navy beans or black beans for some flavor. Any beans you like will add a creamier texture to the recipe especially with leftovers. Keep killin it Ryan!
He was right to keep calling it a stew. I'm sure you noticed he didn't put the potatoes in the stew but that's not any type of chili that I've ever had. The beef cuts were stew meat that you could also use for kabobs. Maybe they do things different in Texas. It looks good regardless.
I just had chili today that my sis made! Perfect for a chilly day! You need your own cooking channel! I’m so inspired by you and makes me hopeful of cooking for one when I hit the road!👍🏾
Thank you for your inspiration. I’m in my DIY Sprinter, not completed, but driving anyways…lol. Unfortunately I got the flu yesterday. I’m grateful for hot tea and bananas. Watching your videos gives me strength. I will make homemade soup tomorrow and get well.
I tried to tent camp there on an amazing overlook at Lake Meredith a little over a year ago, but the flies were SO bad I had to pack up. It was the worst I'd ever seen, sitting down my legs and arms were covered instantly. Amazing seeing it from another angle, and you can't beat free! Thanks for the amazing video.
i get so anxious when you cook! a bigger cutting board always gives me a huge sense of relief and safety. i like that you’re using a nice sharp knife now but it can be weird adjusting. you should put a towel under your cutting board so it doesn’t slide around.
If you plan on going through Las Vegas, PLEASE PLEASEEEEE TRY Red Rice LV. They cook Chamorro (cha-more-roe) food. Look around the menu and if you still can’t decide get the Hafa-Adai (Ha-Fuh-Day) Plate . 100% recommend .
I've slept in that same campground in the exact same spot. I even made a video about it on my channel because i was shocked how beautiful that spot was and that it was completely free. Especially being in the texas panhandle which is pretty desolate in alot of places. Definitely was one of my favorite spots I've stayed in on the road
Damn I love chili it's sogood in the winter live the van life videos been watching y for a whole and I wanna try your potato leak soup looked delicious
Ryan - I watch a video of yours every night, without forwarding which i rarely do with other videos. They are so so relaxing. I have insomnia so they really help. Thank you!
He surely has the personality and the voice to do anything he wants to achieve throughout his entire life !!! He will definitely never be an under rated man in his life … Happy Holidays !!! 🎄❤️🎄
Hey Ryan! You’ve got elephant garlic there. It’s great when treated like a vegetable and not as pungent as “regular” garlic. Also, chili is a form of stew and what you made looks great!
hey ryan or whoever is reading this, i hope you are having a blessed day, i started watchin from your video with simplistic and I am so glad he did that video! put me on to an amazing creator! Been without power due to a tornado now i can watch ur vid!
Loved your area of camping !!! So beautiful and l love to see your cooking !!! I watch out fo r cookin tips and also from comments , i gater tips for cooking tips !! Love your videos !!! Thanks 😊
Ryan, another great video! You’re awesome and this vid made me feel right at home there with you 👍. Have been there but didn’t camp. Great views. Enjoy your downtime. Stay safe. ❤
I always use chipotles in adobo for chili as well. They're nice and smoky and CONSISTENT. With jalapenos you just never know what you're getting. They might be as spicy as a bell pepper or they might melt your face. The chipotles are always the same level of heat so you know what you're working with.
Way more chili powder and no tomatoes is the Texas recipe I’m used to. Well done using cubed roast beef and not ground beef. Those potatoes looked amazing.
While you are in Texas go to the Palo Duro Canyon by Amarillo, Texas. It's called the Grand Canyon of Texas. Pretty cool and this time of year it will be nice temperatures.
Awesome spot!!! This one hits home for sure. Grew up swimming here, and I take my kids here all the time. You should hit up the Canadian River next time. There are always some colorful people on the riverbed, and it's just west of Meredith. Can't beat the free lake spots though, good work sir! Well done on the chili.
Have you thought about getting a screen you can hang/pin where your door is? That way you can leave the door open on nice days without having a billion bugs fly in.
Hi Ryan - just subscribed. You have a wonderful casual, fun approach to life. Very inspiring. And love your van cooking!! Fearless! Please come back to Canada and visit Cape Breton, NS and Newfoundland - especially Gros Mourne National Park and the Viking settlement in L’Anse aux Meadows - you won’t be sorry - right up your alley of gorgeous views.
Welcome to Texas man . I’m down in south Texas by the beach if you make your way down here I’d love to meet you and check out your bus. I was wondering if you have thought about adding swivel seats to the front seats to “expand” your home and possibly add black fabric to your front window coverings so it just looks like a tinted window instead of shades ?
The biggest difference between Texas Chili is that it’s a whole meal by itself, but New Mexico chile is kinda like a condiment that just goes on everything. Red, green or Christmas style you can put it on any meal to make it New Mexican 😋
Ryan there is chili and then there is chili beans. Some of the best chili beans are portagee beans. Shout out to my father in laws family The Oliveira’s. Linguica is the key addition Ryan.
I love beef jerky. I see u buy it all the time. Teriyaki is the best kind.. You can make some on a trip. Very easy to make. In the Oven or a plug in dehydrator
next time at Walmart or sams pick up a dutch oven pot. instead of wasting pro-pain or gas. for 3 hours simmer you can pop on ya stove and that same pot to your oven or a fire pit. they are awesome. i just last month picked up on from sams club for 19bucks. neway looks amazing delicious. thanks for bring us along happy safe travels dude. p.s. your channel is right up there with MAV i absolutely enjoy it. keep on vanning

My sister has one of those and she absolutely loves it. She keeps trying to talk me into getting one so I guess maybe I should. LOL
I live in Texas and honestly, I had no idea that chili was our state dish...you learn something new every day
You should get a small blackstone griddle
Use damp paper towels under the cutting board so it stops sliding around on you!!:)
Can someone tell me why Ryan doesn't have 1 million subscribers, subscribe to this man yo. He should have minimum 500k subs for his content!
He's growing and still relatively new. When I first subscribed he was at around 50k and that was around a year ago.
For real. I’m always hyped when I see a new video pop up. It’s great chill content.
Definetly one of my fav van channels at the moment I enjoy vancity van life as well but Ryan's very good at these videos and always makes 10 outa 10 videos !

Ryan. You drive me crazy not filling up your water tank all the way!!!!!!!

Woahh me and Ryan were doing vanlife in the same state for the first time!
I personally love when the grocery trips are in the videos.
U know its a good day when ryan uploads ❤
Chili is good topped with some sour cream and shredded cheese. Maybe some chopped green onion or chives. The potatoes looked great!

That's a van load of garlic on all that food !!!! Great videos Ryan, thanks for making them.
You have a chili stew, potato is for stews. It’s all good when you cook. 👍🏻🇺🇸☕️☕️

We were there camping two months ago for the Annular Solar Eclipse! Such an amazing spot / hidden gem! ❤
im currently in my class but this wont stop me from watching ryan’s video
You should check out Edge of the World near Flagstaff, AZ. Best camping spot I've ever been to!
Is that not in Sedona?
Beans in chili I think is preference! I actually like them in my chili. I use ground beef or ground venison.
Been watching you for over a year now crazy to see how far you’ve come dude keep going your the goat❤🎉

Love and peace from Australia as always Ryan 🦘😘😘
I think Ryan sounds like Jeremy Sisto when speaking. Great video👍🏾
Peaceful fun video , like the little slow motion thrown in there

your cooking is getting better in every video. keep working on those knife skills, and keep it sharp. favorite part of the vids
the way you held that onion, the way the onion moved, and how sharp that knife is; I was holding my breath
Damn I love chili it's sogood in the winter live the van life videos been watching y for a whole and I wanna try your potato leak soup looked delicious
Clean that fan boy! Snaps right out, held in by clips. Easy peasy.❤

... you stayed in the exact same spot I did - [Dec '21] - however it was 17* F , glad you have better weather ... safe travels ...
Ryan sweetie, you used stew meat! You’re supposed to use ground beef or chili meat (a coarse ground beef) 😂 Me, from South Texas 🤠
Happy 1 year of watching, since the Vanlife gaming chill winter day video I’ve been hooked on the uploads
Ryan, another great video! You’re awesome and this vid made me feel right at home there with you 👍. Have been there but didn’t camp. Great views. Enjoy your downtime. Stay safe. ❤
Appreciate the content, Ryan! I’m an avid watcher of your adventures, keep up the great work!

On Iowa / Minnesota style chili I always put a crap ton of shredded cheese on top and skip the sour cream
Beans in Chili is a must, Chilli without beans is just a topping for a hotdog or fries
facts.
Not in Texas
Way more chili powder and no tomatoes is the Texas recipe I’m used to. Well done using cubed roast beef and not ground beef. Those potatoes looked amazing.
Love the channel. Fill up water at nearly any gas station. One day I'm gonna get rid of my junk and do van life. One day....
While you are in Texas go to the Palo Duro Canyon by Amarillo, Texas. It's called the Grand Canyon of Texas. Pretty cool and this time of year it will be nice temperatures.

Would look a lot better with trees…lake Martin in Alabama of all places looks better
I really cant thank you enough for these vidoes!
in hawaii, serving chili over rice is the way to go, bonus points for mac salad on the side.
We always had chili over fried potatoes with cheese on top. Yum❤
Welcome back to Texas... Mr. Travellin' Man. ✨👍
I live in Indiana. I was a little disappointed that you didn’t spend a little time in the Midwest.
dude lovin the van life and cooking
This is a great channel dude. I’m hooked
I should be studying for my exam…it’ll have to wait - Ryan just uploaded! Welcome to Texas!
Good ole Texas Red! Great job

That way you can leave the door open on nice days without having a billion bugs fly in.

Hey Ryan that chili looked so good. Safe travels to you.
I love how you research food places, try a couple and then replicate in your own special way!
Im originally from stinnett (very close to lake meredith). Its really cool that you came out
Ryan, most Loves truck stops have water if you pull in where the trucks get diesel from. I know you have a filter.

13:50 mark it goes Mav mobile research studio ad vibe 😂 #IYKYK
Those potatoes looked awesome! Going to have to try them.
I love the concept of “trying to eat healthier” and ~adds cheese and bacon everywhere~ hahahaha
Not sure if you have a water bandit or not but it's a life saver, no need for a threaded spigot
Lol those potato poppers are called potato skins down my way here in Canada. They are very good and pretty easy to make
Wow! Small world Ryan I just crossed the Oklahoma & Texas border too😂❤
The biggest difference between Texas Chili is that it’s a whole meal by itself, but New Mexico chile is kinda like a condiment that just goes on everything. Red, green or Christmas style you can put it on any meal to make it New Mexican 😋
Im surprised you havent got a bug net yet for the side door like you do in the back!

put a pizza stone in the bottom of your oven. it stops the burning and disperses the heat from the single burner
maybe next time allow the meat to sit. i also find a light coat in flour helps to brown and thicken. hi from Aotearoa aka New Zealand!
