Making a Puzzle Box with the xTool P2

- Inspired by puzzle boxes seen in movies and tv shows, I design one that can be made from 3mm wood using a laser cutter. I call it the Nexus Crypt because it looks like a coffin. I offered my kids $100 if they could open it.
Beware the jumpscare.
If you're looking to purchase a Laser engraver please use my affiliate link. I do get a comission on those sales and it helps me keep my channel open. I was not paid to say anything about the XTool P2. It's actually a really nice machine. If you're serious about doing laser stuff and can afford it, it's the way to go: bit.ly/3phahxG
Prime day deal (on the xTool store) on the P2 $500 OFF: PRIMEP2
Plans are available on Patreon. The simple box is free:

I'm not gonna lie man, that spider scared the crap outta me lol.
Making that shot freaked me out.
x2 jajaja
Replaying the spider part full screen for my arachnophobic girlfriend was worth a million.
Haha Thanks!
This is sick, i love stuff like this and you make me want to design my own. Also oh my lord 2 jumpscares in 1 video 🤣🤣
Hey thanks for watching. Haha people have mixed emotions about the jump scares. So far I’m down 6 subscribers on this video 😂
@@Nerdtronic 😂 honestly the problem is that it was a damn good one lmao
This is my problem. I get an idea like that and then I feel like I have to do it. It took 2 days to do the inital animation which included hand painting a scan of a tarantualla leg, rigging a full spider puppet in after effects using duik, and it originally featured a few legs showing in the earlier parts of the shot. This was painful because I honestly hate spiders and was hand painting hairs on the legs to hide the matte. Then we refined it and realized that the legs gave away what was going to happen so we removed them and played with the timing for a bit. All so a handful of people can unsub over it (I'm ok with that part) and all pre-knowing that puzzle boxes don't trend well on YT and that I would probably have lackluster viewcounts considering that most of my subscriber base wants my channel to be Uncle Jessy (3D Printing) when really he does an amazing job of being him and that's never what my channel has been about. I've seriously considered starting a new channel and starting over, but I like my channel name. 🤷🏼♂️ It's all 😎.
Edit - Oh also honestly, I didn't consider much what my audience would think of the shot only that it might be polarizing. Mostly I just wanted to scare my kids. 🤣
Another amazing video Michael!
Thanks!
So happy you are back with this high-quality content! This channel is going to explode any day now.
Man I wish. Honestly I just don't see it happening. But we can 🙏🏼🤞🏻
This is awesome! I hope you get to 100K subs soon, the production value is off the charts!
Wow thanks!
Wow cooool!
Thanks!
Are you making 3d printing videos still...? I miss you.
That's pretty cool.
Thanks! Plans are available!
I gotta figure out how to make that an stl so I can 3d print it.
Well, I did design it in fusion 360 so it does exist in 3D. Might be possible.
Loved the Video , BTW Just wondering when you give it a Tap , does the metal rod go down down or it have its compartment and can reattached itself if the box is tilted back.
Yes there is a little magnet box that holds it. Plans are on Patreon: www.patreon.com/posts/85908538
Genial!
3:48 - bastard. lol
HAHA!
This is great, now i want a laser cutter :-)
Get one! Just remember that you need good ventilation unless you have the P2 and the air filter. And also you gotta watch them cause it can be a fire hazard.
A guy I worked with also made puzzles he had one you had to spin to start to unlocking :)
That's cool. I'm not sure what I'll do next but was considering using a tiny arduino.
why'd you stop uploading :(
I forgot I was even subscribed and actually clicked on this from the side panel recommendations. You might want to consider releasing a video more often than twice a year. To help with that I'm going to suggest a video idea: laser cut thick plastic sheets and use a soldering iron to weld the pieces together and make a Rubik's style cube. I know, simple, but it would be fun and easy.
Thanks for watching. I also need to start integrating some brand recognition in the thumbnail like unfortunately having my face in them.
@@Nerdtronic Or you could use your channel logo, or some kind of circuit design that forms the shape of an N.
👍
Hey, would you be able to laser cut something for me if I were to pay you? It's something that I've wanted to make for a while but haven't been able to find a place that would cut it out.
You should check out pcbway. They offer a lot of services now. Not just pcbs.
Impossible you say?
*turns on water cutting jet*
Yeah not impossible for a hammer. 🤣
"Promo sm" 🌈
😀 I looked that up. You work there? What's the story?
That Spider Jumpscare just lost you my subscription. It freaked me out, and got my heart racing in a way I didn't appreciate in the slightest.
Understandable. Sorry to see you go.
nice......
Thanks
