The boss who gave OP a break and allowed him to have a safe space to live, and get back on his feet is an unsung angel. Yes OP was on call 24/7, but he seemed happy with that. Glad things worked out for OP.
@Louis_2568 I wasn't saying it wasn't a good deal, I was just pointing out that small almost catch to the agreement. I would have happily taken the deal to had I been in OPs situation. A safe space to sleep, all the hours I want and the ability to save for a permanent house. It's just some people may not see being on call 24/7 would be worth it
lol yeah when you think about it always took the insults and kept helping the shunned and when the very same people that insulted it needed it it selflessly allowed them hospice
Those kids been through the ringer bro. Definitely the 7 yo cause damn imagine seeing how unhinged your mother actually is and that the mom you adored turned out to be a MONSTER!
I feel glad the three children aren't approached by their mother anymore, though I do feel bad for the fourth.... (I mean, it wasn't a baby's fault for being born between a messed-up narcissist and a guy that dumped her)
@@ethanpowell2725 No. You remember things way, waay younger with that kind of abuse. At 7yo, you could remember how it's an ongoing thing that fucks you up inside and outside.
Certain things you genuinely cannot forget, what those kids went through? They'll remember for years. Hell this whole story is (supposedly) being told by a guy that was neglected as a kid and vividly remembers what he went through@@ethanpowell2725
I disowned my father 20 years ago because he moved me and his gold digger girlfriend and her two kids in together. He gave me a room just big enough to fit a twin size bed in and a dresser. I still treated her two boys, who were only 10, 11 and me being 20 my father's youngest, like they were my little brothers. I took them out to play baseball, football, rollerblading and so on. But their mother bad mouthed me being a bad influence because all I did was sit on my computer all day (despite working 40 hours and having paid off one of my father's cars, paid it's insurance and installed remote starters in both) but all she did was lounge around all day drinking and popping pills. The last straw was when he threatened to kick me out if I didn't buy "the car" off him for the remaining 8,000$ of my inheritance from my grandmother. I had thought he meant the car I had paid off and signed the pink slip in anger and paid him as I started looking for a new place. It wasn't till the next day when I couldn't find my keys that I noticed he had left the keys for her beater of a town car. Looked at the title I had signed and it was for that pos. I told him to go fuck himself and his gold digging girlfriend and took my computer and few things and drove down from near the Maine boarder to Boston were a friend lived... found out how much the car was because it was sputtering and having issues. Pulled into a mechanic shop and the guy did a quick look and showed me the cracked engine block, it needed a whole new engine. It thankfully got me to my friend's place. (still ended up homeless because his roommate tried blackmailing me into paying his rent.)
I swear, when I heard this was gonna be long, I got up, went to my kitchen, and started making ramen like I was about to watch my favorite show. I've heard this story before, and it caught my attentionl I absolutely love how he put his entitled family in their place. I love this story, and I also feel he did the right thing by putting them in their place.
It's funny because i did the very same and even when my ramen finished I made some butter bread with condensed milk but that finished so I'm here now lying on my bed commenting
What’s funny is if they weren’t so obvious in that they broke in, the cops would have potentially had to tell him that he’d need to sue them out, as squatters are a civil matter. But with how obvious it was they broke in to do that, and how they right in front of the cops (who likely had bodycams) showed how fraudulent they were, yeah, B&E and no chance of ever trying it again better convincingly
I believe it. My mom was a lot like op's mom when it came to me and my sister. If my sister was allowed to have anything of mine she wanted (money, clothes, my car, my gameboy, etc.) because "Don't be selfish. We are family." If she didn't want to share back it was, "She is allowed to have boundaries."
Well, it was quite sweet of OP to give his camper to his brother, despite everything he's done. I'm happy that OP and his family somewhat reconciled and, especially, that Dan's kids don't hate OP because of their mother influence
@@Chadius_Thundercock I actually believe it. The very disparate (in time) updates, alongside nothing going exactly in his favour as a matter of course when OP had been relying on that being the case (like some stories have revenge-plots that _need_ components of them to go _just_ right), does make it rather plausible. Add to that how OP was mainly reactionary and the story felt consistent, too. Granted, there were portions that felt somewhat embellished/biased (like his accounts of how horrid they had been to him as a kid), but that is honestly to be expected (and kinda made it seem more likely someone's actual account of events). And even those things are stuff I have knowledge actually _do_ happen irl at times, so might not [biased]. The main issue I have making it seem like it might be fake, is the extreme the family went to when they broke into his house and such (even forging fake documents - which btw any competent cop would bag as possible evidence). Hard to see how they could think they would get away with it, what they actually hoped to achieve, and how parents able to try and do that could then expect him to ever reconciliate. But ppl do do stupid shit irl, and making attempts/hoping is free
@@feha92 what makes it sound super fake is the multiple times posts of people on the story or accounts are private, deleted, “oh I don’t have cameras to show the video” then later on he says he got cameras but doesn’t upload the videos, doesn’t specify what state he lives in, no photos, there’s way too many coincidences for it to be real
I feel it was in large part that he didn't want to feel responsible for a drunk hit&run, + that he had realized he weren't using the camper and just letting it sit and go derelict while also actually still caring for those kids. Don't think it was much for dan's sake.
@@feha92on the off chance i sound insane i went through some crazy shit with family myself i am legitimately surprised how op did not feel the literal urge to kill him then and there, not saying there should have been any chance of it happening but i myself would be so done with these people i would have jailed all of them on the basis of assault battery harassment breaking and entering and sue for emotional damages and wasting my damn time, i feel very strongly that "family" are people that make you feel safe and cared for, not whatever troglodyte raised you. i wholeheartedly believe op would have been significantly happier had he distanced himself completely from his family emotionally and chalked it up to it literally being their fault.
@@Arxgxmii guess some people are different than others. OP feels like someone who values attachment more than others, as he said in the story about not being able to easily leave their town. He may have a subconscious feeling that cutting them off completely is not good for his mental health.
@@supesulgi yeah i don't think i can ever understand that, everyone has their limits and this should be past most people's IMO, even if you value attachment a lot you can just form new bonds decently fast, as opposed to trying to make something work with people that made it impossible to work things out for well over a decade. i just really don't get how burdening yourself with a family that never valued you like this could lead to any amount of fulfillment or happiness.
@@Arxgxmi Its all a matter of perspective I suppose. I dont wanna think of myself as a pushover, and it feels prideful to call myself a forgiving person. But I dont like to think a bad person has the incapability of changing or becoming good. If someone is changing for the better, or trying to, I'd like to think that they can. Of course, approaching that kind of situation with caution never hurt anyone.
Yep. I see way too many moral justice keyboard warriors painting everything in such broad black and white strokes here and on Reddit that I have to hazard a guess most of those commenting haven't dealt with many people IRL. Rarely are things as clear cut as we'd hope they'd be and instead we have to play the cards we've been dealt the best way we can. People may despise Dan in perpetuity (because those people actually can't let go of personal grievances for some reason), but I very much like hearing about how a person like Dan can actually take the time to self reflect and learn from his mistakes. They say time heals all wounds, but without putting in any effort to make sure that healing continues what's the point?
I just hope Dan is like: oh wait I’m actually a spoilt favourite child who wants to take my brothers house by legal and illegal means maybeeee this is unfaiirrr
I think to a degree there was a redemption arc, just the willingness to go live in a camper like OP in order to do better for his son shows huge strides in his attitude and how he thinks about himself. Granted, it took being humbled by a cheating wife, which is always sad...
22:49 the fact that when OP said "when she tried to bargain more and more to change my mind" the guy parkouring just randomly shakes his head is comical
The infamous “DO IT FOR DAN!!” Saga is still infamous and unbelievable and I wish we had a final update with Dan getting his butt handed to him by his parents finally… Holy crap yall!!! 9k likes?!?! Thank yall so much!!! Wish I could have a drink with all yall
The only ones that compare are the"Crazy Aunt," "Faux HOA Lady," and the "My Sister Kelly" sagas. The HOA lady one was so long I'd been using it for background noise until it finally caught my attention and Holy Cow! That ended up being a Federal case and when the FED DA asked the OP what started all this, he said, "She yelled at my wife." OP said DA laughed uproariously for 5 minutes straight.
There's a new update y'all! 1. SIL just got arrested for DUI 2. OP and the family are getting along...ish 3. Dan has the kids and he's getting back in shape. 4. The flying mo key from before got an ass chewing.
As a child of narcissistic parents and grandparents, this was not hard to believe. What was shocking was the number of people saying they didn't believe it. My parents would gaslight me, saying all families were like ours and that "I should deal with it," like this guy and being young I accepted it.
Yeah, this story is not only believable but also common too. And the most common "character" in the whole story is SIL. The girl that finishes college but then realizes she never wanted to work, tries getting a traditional role but then off shores all of her work load to older generation around kids while still spending money, and especially popping out kids every few years to keep out of work is so common. It's actually so common that it's basically an archetype of a character, instead of "one off", and I personally know few of them. It's really sad when people don't know what they want in life and then end up pulling everyone down with them. If she honestly strived for being a good stay at home mom and used all those years she wasted on college to acquire cooking/cleaning skills and then set out to find a guy who wanted 4-5 kids and such wife, she could've had happy life and make someone's life equally happy. Instead she spent those years acquiring worthless degree she won't use and more horrendously, a lot of ego about it. A lot of people do this and it always results in overall unhappiness around them.
One of the most relieving and depressing things I found out thanks to the internet was the shit I went through wasn't unique and was actually disgustingly common.
1. You're white knighting way too hard, watch your back, they might break under all the pressure. 2. It's not fiction because I even said I saw it far too many times, and one's already too many. 3. Work on your profiling, cause early 20s incel is way off. You got gender right, pretty much nothing else, your profiling sucks ass. And by the way, getting angry at the archetype is precisely what people should do, and normal people do. Hate the sin, not the sinner is also "getting angry towards the archetype". Archetypes is what you build your world view, morals, ideals etc. But you wouldn't know anything about that, since you're parading on the YT defending undefendable people. I could ad hominem you with classic "I hope you grow out of this phase typical for 16-20 year olds" but I won't stoop down to your level of debasement, cause unlike you, when I do talk about a profile or archetype, I don't pull stuff out of my ass. @professorfrog7181
Anytime there's stories with outragous/narcissistic levels of entitlement in families, I pretty much never doubt it (there's an odd story that might be dubious, but I have no problem believing most of them). I have cut off 90% of my family because of exactly this kind of behavior. I haven't spoke to my narcissistic, abusive father in almost 6 years, but I still occasionally get emails/calls for collections that he doesn't want to pay for. I've taken to calling those organizations and giving them the correct contact info, including giving his work #. I'm in my f*ck around and find out era with the narcs in my family.
49:11 "I knew he was smart. He just let himself be dumb." That goes to show just how good of a person OP is - he never thought his brother was an idiot, just that he was acting idiotic.
This new format for updating old stories is really great please keep this. It lets people new to the story catch up and older subscribers get straight to the new updates. Thanks Telltales!
Thats rather a legit concern and could be filed as child abuse. Alcohol during pregnancy leads to poor brain development and I don't think that in infancy this issue is any less concerning.
Typical behavior of a woman like SIL, wants to be treated like the virgin Mary because she's a MOMMMMMY, but drops those kids like a bag of snakes as soon as she "finds something better." I've seen this happen too many times.
"He's smart. He just chose to be stupid." How often I needed that phrase in my life. Also, when Dan called himself, "The prick I used to be." I thought it'd be interesting to see a movie character like him because the way he changes is so dynamic.
It's bullshit too. He was treated like shit before SIL came into the picture. They would still be treating him like shit if he hadn't destroyed their reputation. They're still shit people, but now it makes more sense to suck up to OP rather than shit on him, and if they didn't have a SIL scapecoat.
The Dan Redemption Arc was my favorite. I kinda liked Dan (or at least who he could've been) from the beginning because it seemed like he was gaslit into bullying OP by the parents and then he married The Main Villian and got manipulated even more and I was just hoping he saw the light and turned to OPs side bro. Like he seemed more of the conduit of OP's trauma and less the Master Mind behind it.
I respect the OP for giving mercy for the sake of the kids. Even if their parents were crap those kids still have a whole life ahead of them. And if anyone says “well the 7 yr old kicked him!” Any child would do that for their mother. Her behavior was all they knew. She had the child wrapped around her finger.
I will never forget my boss who let me park in the lot during my last two weeks, just gave the check and said leave. Thank you so much and youll never know how much i appreciated that.
Does anyone else just come back to this story at least once every couple of days to just enjoy listening to a long, uninterrupted story about entitled people?
amazing how he stayed the better person and never sank to being petty or getting revenge. honestly, it’s nice seeing the people at fault actually work to improve themselves and admit they were wrong, without resorting to legal punishment or revenge and the fact that he didn’t even cut ties with his family but even helped Dan after everything he did is crazy
There was many moments where I thought he would make them feel even worse or do anything to make their situations worse as a measure of revenge, but he really didn't or did at all
Shoutout to the Employers who let him park the camper in the backlot, man. Without them, not only would we not have gotten this amazing story, but OP's family would never have seen "That Bitch" for who she truly is. I'm glad reconsiliation is in the cards for the family, and I truly feel apologetic for Dan, who likely experienced some form of Ego Death through all of the revelations that occurred throughout the story (ranging from reading the perspective of his older brother through the reddit posts, seeing how his Ex-Wife manipulated and took advantage of his previous narcissism, down to her outright cheating and then blaming his older brother, and everything in between). Things seem to be looking positive, and from there, as much as I want an update to keep my drama-driven brain satisfied, I actually REALLY hope that we don't get any more updates, because ending off where we are now, no news is good news, aside from the car egging situation.
As a retired cop, you just said the best thing and that is the "I dont get paid enough for this face" because me and my team had a similar encounter to this but it took way longer than what we were expecting so we all have that face in the end when all of it was over😂
Frankly, OP was a better person than I would ever be. I would've cut ties with someone like Dan, never help him nor even be friendly. Because notice how Dan never apologized for being shitty towards OP, he only called himself "shitty" as in his taste for women. He never applogized for acting haughty, for being evil, for acting entitled...he's still too prideful.
That is true, but Im hopeful that words of apology, taking responsibility and repair will come in time. But maybe like his father he also needs to develop new behaviours to connect with his brother in a healthy way. When growing up you learn different patterns and as long as they work all is fine and dandy. Problem begins when it turns out these patterns aren't good in the long run, but without alternatives you will repeat the old patterns out of lack of choice. Therapy is an important part to help people with this no matter if they are the abuser of the abused. I've worked with plenty of people that have experienced abused, helping them finding their own maladaptive behaviors and then learning to break them and create adaptive behaviours. It's not easy, but it is possible. And when it comes to anger management progress can often be surprisingly fast just by getting one or two alternatives to blowing up in anger and getting a basic understanding of where the anger comes from.
I love how dan said “I pulled a you”, like that is genuinely something brothers’d say to eachother, like a younger brother idolizing his older brother, i hope their relationship improve

The four main things are 1:they broke in to his house 2:it has more lore than fnaf 3:sil is a bad name 4:it was the good ending out of everything that could've happened
My favorite part of this story is how long the OP spends trying to convince everyone that it's not a combination copy pasta of ten different reddit posts he read. Like, if it's real or not bro, just tell your story. None of us are here for facts, we're here to be enraged by vaguely believable human nastiness.
Cringe way to phrase that tho, I feel attached to op and would Ve killed for him, I expected some shady legal action somehow creeping in and him losing his house somehow and I was losing my mind while listening
That last part doesn’t make sense, “vaguely believable”? There are many people who are exactly like who the stories are about, some people are trapped with them by relationship or by being the child of said people and have to deal with it until they’re old enough to get the hell out of there
Man...I heard this story originally from R/Slash and I had NO idea the SIL had gone so far off the deep end. And to be honest, OP deserves WAY way better than what he got in terms of parents and siblings. If this had been me, I probably would not have gone as far as OP did if those kids weren't a factor. Either way...glad to see this Saga come to a decent ending. Hopefully this is the last time we have to worry about the ex-Psycho-In-Law.
@@joaop4585 I get your point, but at the same time, they are technically innocent and still young. If Dan and SIL had gone to jail that day, those kids would be in the foster system or at best with the grandparents. It's a no-win scenario for them, and to be honest the way the story went with Dan actually getting his act together really shows how much people can change if given the right push.
Like Dan could be salvaged to a degree because being the golden child isn't his fault, he was basically groomed to be a piece of shit by his parents, and at least he shows remorse now to a degree and admits he's terrible. It's the parents who should never be forgiven as they fully chose to be awful to the point they chose to move away from the family because everyone was calling them on being awful parents.
@@NinjaTyler A fair point. It's not 100% Dan's fault, but at the same time, he's still got a lot to make up for, so I think if Dan hadn't changed, yeah I would say something has to give one way or another. And I agree. If the parents really can't change, let them sort their own problems out. The father especially. He was such a dick to OP that he doesn't even know how to treat the poor guy since he can't enable Dan's BS anymore.
I find it hilariously convenient for Dan and the parents that the second SIL turned out be an enemy, that suddenly it's was "all her fault" and they wouldn't have done any of it if it wasn't for her Yeah, lying through their teeth and using her as a scapegoat to try and repair the damage they'd caused

This story goes to show how public shaming is a good thing. Let society judge you for your character; otherwise, you’ll be stuck in your own narcissistic bubble
Yes, public shaming is nothing more than a reality check. In a world where we are trying to be more civilized and less violent, shame is a great tool to open the eyes of others and lower the rate of degenerate actions caused by others and ourselves.
I agree, but its important the public have an understanding before judging as well. After all its a powerful thing, and like all powerful things they are ripe for abuse

Multiple takeaways regarding Dan: 1. Don't live together with your parents after you're married 2. Get your finances together and and figure them out together with your partner
1: or if you do, make sure that your stay bothers them the least. like for example get a camper and make a pretty wall that hides the camper like for example pretty scenery if the camper is eyesore for them.
Hearing this story i realise how much childhood trauma effects a person.....this man even after all this wishes for parental love you can just feel it as how soft he is toward his shit brother's kids
Parents are the gods of our lives and create who we become. Once you hit a certain age you realize how the smallest of things done and not done can DRASTICALLY alter one's life. [ small looking back, and objectively small incidents not just subjective. Yet for some reason they are magnified from small actualities into huge life changing phenomenon. It is indeed wierd ! ]
Oh my god... Dan got a redemption arc. I can't believe it. I agree that his wife's infidelity and seeing himself as a youtube caricature acting out his horrific behaviors was enough of a punishment for him, especially since it was paired with actual effort to be better. But the the wicked bitch of the east (SIL) hasn't quite fallen far enough from grace for me to be satisfied. At least she doesn't get to inflict her horrible, unchanged personality on those kids anymore. I'm glad this story had a good ending overall :)
The act itself no. But depending on the person it could help them take a look at themselves and try to change for the better. They have to make an effort though.
I view the infant/early stages of going back to church as some form of seeking redemption. I also view the routine of habitually attending as a way to judge of whether one wants to be truly redeemed, or to claim moral superiority.
There are two types of people that go to church. Those who are genuinely good people, know that they sin through simply being human and aspire to be better than they were the day before. They help everyone around them and try to make everyone around them be as comfortable as possible. Then there are people like OP's family. They know they are wicked people and are unrepentant. They know where they are going when they die and they are hoping keeping up appearances will earn them a spot. I'm more like a combination of OP and the former. I don't like going to church because I'm surrounded by protestants and they freak me out. That said, I try to treat everyone around me with kindness and if I can help, I will. I don't have very much, but that will never stop me from offering someone a place to stay, literally offer the shirt off my back or offer someone something to eat or drink. I'm not looking for validation or praise, just offering my two cents. God will ultimately judge me in the end.
Some people do it like that, and as others said for some people it can be the first step of introspection. In this case it seems to be the latter since they seem to make efforts to change behaviours and take responsibility. Just talking about these things with people from the outside is important in situations like these, both for the ones doing the abusing and the ones being abused. Without an external frame of reference just about anything could be considered normal. Which is why I can see the progress of wakeup that OP describes. It rarely happens fast and all at once, often there is a build up and then it can come a tipping point where things suddenly happen fast. Kinda like bending a piece of twig where there's a lot of nothing happening on the surface but tension is building up inside until it finally snaps.
ngl, at this point it's utterly silly how often the folks in this story constantly *threaten* to press charges, but only ever do so after the 127th threat
Previously if he had SIL and Dan were a package deal. If he pressed charges against Dan he'd lose his job and probably never get one as good again. That would ruin the future of the 4 kids. As soon as they're apart though? Nothing stopping OP.
@@TJackson736 taken care of, sure. But they all live in the same house. Dan in jail = far less money for the household. Dan in jail = grandpa working until death and hope he isn't forced into retirement.
Normally I would NEVER say this but...are those kids actually okay being raised by parents like that? Because yeah you feel bad for the kids but whatever fall out that happens were conscious decisions made by the parents because of their own arrogance and not because of the kids. Not once we're those kids actually thought about.
The fact OP lent his brother his the camper in the end, just out of his brother's decision to put his son first legit made my faith on humanity get a bit better

Oh boy... I had read this story before, up to the point of the family begging OP to help Dan get a house. I was not expecting such a turnaround. I'm glad that piece of garbage woman is gone from their lives and that the family managed to mend things to a degree. What a wholesome ending.
The thing that got me was his dad just looking all empty at OP when he broke things down. I've met my fair share of shitty parents. A part of me wants to believe the dad wanted to be proud of how his least favorite son got on his feet, but knew he had no right because he was a big cause of his son's difficulties.

I disagree with OP about not needing to have his brother and SIL arrested for their trespasses because the kids didn't deserve to see their parents in cuffs. The grandparents would have taken the kids + the kids would have learned a valuable lesson that you can't trespass and act upon someone without their consent. A lesson their parents clearly aren't ever going to teach them!
I just want to hug him so badly for going through the first part of his life like that. I wish he had known the love and warmth parents should give to their children.
I really loved this story after hearing about it on different videos, but also for the fact that OP did make a post about renting out the rooms like I suggested and OP in the end managed to come out on top especially with having a better relationship with Dan’s kids and Dan himself. OP became a real man even when he helped Dan at his lowest even though Dan didn’t deserve OP’s help when Dan asked to stay in the camper
A lot of RUclipsrs and podcasts covered this story, because it’s crazy how Op parents, sister in law and brother could basically treat Op like a boomerang whenever they need something but never give Op anything in return.
People only treat you how you allow them to. his childhood cant be helped but as an adult if he just put his foot down, pressed charges and went no contact most of this could have been avoided. at a certain point you are responsible for how others treat you

"You'll be disowned for this!"

I love how I forgot about the whole point of the story and just are invested in this man’s life
Well, it was quite sweet of OP to give his camper to his brother, despite everything he's done. I'm happy that OP and his family somewhat reconciled and, especially, that Dan's kids don't hate OP because of their mother influence
OP knows the most Divine of Knowledge: Being an ass to people wanting to change just makes you an even bigger ass.
He was also thinking of Dan's kid.
It was satisfying to hear Dan go through a Thorfinn level arc and do a complete 180 to the person he was. 11/10 story, even if it’s probably fake
@@Chadius_Thundercockvideos and pictures weren't shown for privacy reasons, same with no description of state.
The kindness OP showed Dan during his drunken low point (and the morning after) after everything Dan did to him is god damn saintly in my eyes.
I am Kinda Glad that Dan Finally woke up and saw the reality of the situation. As much as I despise him, I hope to see a Redemption arc for Dan.
Don’t hold your breath…
I think to a degree there was a redemption arc, just the willingness to go live in a camper like OP in order to do better for his son shows huge strides in his attitude and how he thinks about himself. Granted, it took being humbled by a cheating wife, which is always sad...
It was fun, how at the end, OP was basically just the narrator, while we followed a villain protagonist, it was pretty cool.

He never applogized for acting haughty, for being evil, for acting entitled...he's still too prideful.
Tbh I'd never trust or love them again
I’m pretty sure he said “I’m a terrible person with a shitty taste in women” no?

Like, if it's real or not bro, just tell your story. None of us are here for facts, we're here to be enraged by vaguely believable human nastiness.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I know right 😂
Cringe way to phrase that tho, I feel attached to op and would Ve killed for him, I expected some shady legal action somehow creeping in and him losing his house somehow and I was losing my mind while listening
Not the way I'd phrase it but yeah you're right.
Exactly! Pity to narcisist thieves? Nah, not even kids would save from the court cases lol
Nah SIL is not just far off the deep end she’s in the Mariana trench.
Man went through so much and yet is willing to help this family is a testiment to his kindness. I hope you find a good family.
I find it hilariously convenient for Dan and the parents that the second SIL turned out be an enemy, that suddenly it's was "all her fault" and they wouldn't have done any of it if it wasn't for her
Yeah, lying through their teeth and using her as a scapegoat to try and repair the damage they'd caused
exactly, they got “nicer” because they realized they couldn’t abuse Op as before. I bet when they see op vulnerable or when he gets a partner, they’ll drop their masks.
Sometimes certain people are a terrible influence on others
@@SpikastruNo, I was like him, scarey close, but when I grew up , I became the stronger , smarter, and the provider for my wife and kids, I was to strong and confident after awhile to be stepped on or used, so unfortunately they latched on harder. I do love them, but they'll never get a dime from me, or anything else, but they have my reputation to use, being my family can get them far, so being nice to me is needed, because if I dint like them or they do me wrong, and people find out, they'll lose jobs , favor , and 'friendships, which i dount they are anyone's friends , they use people.
It's funny, they never thought their ugly, runt, who was always afraid of everything, while my brothers from the second husband were bigger , faster learners and more popular, would turn out to be a handsome , hardworking , respected and loved person lol. Their abuse formed me into what I am, I never wanted anything from anyone, I spent my time learning and working out, learning martail arts , but they didn't knkw I left when I was 14 and figured the world out, and as mean as the world can be , it was never as hard as that home was, and in fact people who had nothing, people the world hated and frowned on, helped me, people with no homes, drug problems and criminal records raused me, looked out for me, taught me skills and to be better then them! Now thats where I find my workers , my loyal and trusted friends. My business started with nothing but me and a shovel, broom, and a push cart, now I have 20 employees, many trucks and tons of equipment, and part timers at many points of the year, I have cots set up for the guys , and lady, still working to get a place in the shop, my family is the bottom of the world, because the heavy hearts sink the farthest down, I'm just smart enough to go pull them back up, like those who did it for me.
@@SpikastruI’m really disappointed with op. After the house shenanigan, he should have blocked their numbers and done one or both of these things, A) take a self defense class like BJJ or MMA and B) Sell the house and move to a lower cost state with a higher paying job.
@@CriticalPopulistAnarchisti get why you'd feel that way but it's clear op is sticking around for the kiddos who def don't deserve the parents or dan...
This story goes to show how public shaming is a good thing. Let society judge you for your character; otherwise, you’ll be stuck in your own narcissistic bubble
Yes, public shaming is nothing more than a reality check. In a world where we are trying to be more civilized and less violent, shame is a great tool to open the eyes of others and lower the rate of degenerate actions caused by others and ourselves.
to an extend public shaming can do some good but with all things if done in excess it causes more harm than good
I agree, but its important the public have an understanding before judging as well. After all its a powerful thing, and like all powerful things they are ripe for abuse
17:09 "Fuck dan! Its my damn house, not his" was fucking awesome and I loved the olive garden saga
This is the first post I've teared 😢 up on . When the brother gave his room to his son , i wanted to jump for joy . 😊 His actions showed he wasn't totally lost ❤😊. OP is a Blessed person who has a good heart & strong work ethic. Many men would've stopped when they were homeless & just gave up . Well done OP , well done 👏 🙌
Multiple takeaways regarding Dan:
1. Don't live together with your parents after you're married
2. Get your finances together and and figure them out together with your partner
1: or if you do, make sure that your stay bothers them the least. like for example get a camper and make a pretty wall that hides the camper like for example pretty scenery if the camper is eyesore for them.
No the most important part is buy condoms before anything.
Condoms 😂😂😂😂
Hearing this story i realise how much childhood trauma effects a person.....this man even after all this wishes for parental love you can just feel it as how soft he is toward his shit brother's kids
Parents are the gods of our lives and create who we become.
Once you hit a certain age you realize how the smallest of things done and not done can DRASTICALLY alter one's life.
[ small looking back, and objectively small incidents not just subjective. Yet for some reason they are magnified from small actualities into huge life changing phenomenon. It is indeed wierd ! ]

The amount of the stress I had to feel throughout the story, I feel very sorry for the guy who had to live with these leaches.
It's highly amusing how people think that going to church makes them better people.
I agree, but at least it shows their effort if they truly believe so. It seems that their behavior is getting better so theres no harm in going 🤷♀️
The real goat in this story is really the boss of whoever wrote this story
This is such a crazy story why am I so invested in the drama with Dan
ngl, at this point it's utterly silly how often the folks in this story constantly *threaten* to press charges, but only ever do so after the 127th threat
He already explained he didn't do it because of Dan's kids.
Previously if he had SIL and Dan were a package deal. If he pressed charges against Dan he'd lose his job and probably never get one as good again.
That would ruin the future of the 4 kids.
As soon as they're apart though? Nothing stopping OP.
@@kittikats the grandparents could have always taken care of the kids. That is what happens when their children are failures - they get to try again.

Holy hell man.
The second they shoved their way into my house would have been their last mistake before the cops got there.
At least Dan been humbled enough to do some good. For once. And dear lord, this video has had me on roller-coaster for the past few hours.
I honestly think you are a amazing man for giving your family another chance and even letting your brother stay in your prized possession camper which you loved not to mention you did not get them arrested at the time because of the kids and how you treat them so nicely we need more people like this ❤❤
"You didn't deserve the house and I need a better place to live with MY family" cool, cool. He worked realy hard, buy this house with HIS money, and now he should to give it to you? Nah, only 11 minutes of video and I alredy want put them in jale.
From an antagonist to a friend of the protagonist....
Thats honestly surprising
Not a friend, but at least a better and a tolerable person.
No lie, the guy said no to giving his brother money and co-signing but he STILL gave him valuable budgeting advice.
Oh boy... I had read this story before, up to the point of the family begging OP to help Dan get a house. I was not expecting such a turnaround.
I'm glad that piece of garbage woman is gone from their lives and that the family managed to mend things to a degree. What a wholesome ending.
Welp, not fully out of Dan's life, but at least OP finally has some lasting peace

That was quite the emotional rollercoaster. Poor Op. I bet he'll live happy if he never hears the words... "Do it for Dan" again.
I just want to hug him so badly for going through the first part of his life like that. I wish he had known the love and warmth parents should give to their children.
Damn this was a deep story with many rabbit holes to go in. Shocked with the outcome and the changes.
This is one of my favorite sagas and nearly jumped out of bed when I saw “new updates”
A lot of RUclipsrs and podcasts covered this story, because it’s crazy how Op parents, sister in law and brother could basically treat Op like a boomerang whenever they need something but never give Op anything in return.
No they do. They've given him so much trauma and disappointment.
People only treat you how you allow them to. his childhood cant be helped but as an adult if he just put his foot down, pressed charges and went no contact most of this could have been avoided. at a certain point you are responsible for how others treat you
@@Hanzo1 Considering that they showed up at his house, drilled through his lock to replace it with their own, then barricaded themselves in his house until the police arrived, I don't think merely pressing charges would've helped much.

The fact that he still had sympathy for his brother shows how adult he is.
