    Absolutely wicked.
    Hey, if you're really into Neons, and aren't aware of it, There's an actual Neon enthusiast community online (can't put a link, or even spell it out, because the comment gets deleted). It's full of Neon enthusiasts and fans, including former Dodge/Chrysler service techs, and even a few former plant workers who used to build Neons. I'm sure they'd LOVE to see this.
    It's a great community. They've been SUPER helpful and cool to me over the years.

    Definitely need a dyno run. I'll be shocked and amazed to see a SOHC over 220hp N/A. That would give me hope for my magnum SOHC sitting in the garage.

      My butt dyno can easily tell it's nowhere near 300 hp. It loves to be up in the RPMs though. 5500-8000 it just keeps pulling and accelerating.

    The problem with the idle might be a sticky IAC valve, mine is a 98. It was parked from 2015 to 2023 and when i started it had that problem. But i love it is an awesome daily driver

      It turns out they had drilled a hole through the throttle blade. I covered the hole and adjusted the TPS a little and got it running pretty good. Just put new wheels and tires on today. Ready to see how it runs on the road.

      @KPracing412 I had a 2000 with the sohc/5spd. They really missed the boat, not bringing the dohc into the 2nd gen.
      I always kicked myself for not waiting for an SRT4, though.

    • @numberyellow
      @numberyellow 6 месяцев назад

      @@KPracing412 300HP is absolutely insane, when you take into account that stock, off the assembly line, the DOHC ECC motor only made 150HP.

    • @numberyellow
      @numberyellow 6 месяцев назад

      It's not EXACTLY the same motor. The ECC that was in the neon is very similar to the 420A motor used in the Avenger and Eclipse. In the ECC, the intake ports face the front of the vehicle, while the intake ports on the 420A face the rear. Most of the other specs are identical though, and they even share some of the head components.

      @@KPracing412 Sweet car and it sounds like it'll make good power, but don't expect anywhere near 300hp. Its probably going to be closer to 200hp. I've built several Neons with SOHC, DOHC and 2.4 swaps, and it takes some serious work to break 200hp. Either way, its going to be a riot! Have fun with it!!!

      @@oldmanbluntz I know, right? The Neon was marketed as an affordable, economical little commuter car, that was relatively quick, and fun to drive. So most people now, look at the specs, and it's mid/late 90's styling, and write it off as econo-commuter shitbox, not worth looking at. In reality, they were awesome little cars.
