WARD EIGHT cocktail

This is a fabulous cocktail version as below. Perfectly balanced and deceptively mild despite the ABV. Rye and mild orange finish. 1898 Tom Hussion, Locke-Ober café Boston. Comes in at 35% ABV.
MIXING NOTES: Original recipe calls for rye. Old Grand-Dad is a high rye bill bourbon, and with the extra Rittenhouse, it results in the magic mix. Use fresh OJ and lemon juices, and a decent grenadine such as handcrafted or Liber.

2 Old Grand-Dad Bonded bourbon (Kentucky 100 proof)
¼ Rittenhouse Bonded rye (Kentucky 100 proof)
½ lemon juice (fresh)
½ orange juice (fresh)
1tsp (full teaspoon) handcrafted grenadine
Shake 17 cracked ice, strain chilled coupe, ice shard, back speared thin orange wedge
