@@sethsgamingandstuff Normal stats work, you can get a lot done with exploiting weaknesses and just ignoring stats. For example. Highish for the time stat buccaneer with a 2h in that fight? Hit for 100. Light crossbow hoplite with all defensive stats? 200-400. Just a pierce weakness. Pretty much the only time that happens, but oh well. At the same time, the basic warrior could also drop 500s due to the dark finisher on fists. Mages got their damage once a cudgel finisher opened him up to an Enfeeble. At the same time we can also exploit flat damage through Shots. Stats are stats, but there's a million other mechanics out there that matter more.
1:35 Nope, I have done the Shrines and got me a F and a M Necromancer and I got the Curse 1 and 2 spells while inside the Hanging Gardens. My Catiua is dead so no, not only Dark Priest can have it. It is my first Dorgalua kill too.
I haven't played game yet so I'm not sure but if the Final boss is a giant Egg thing like the pic shows before you click on this video then that is totally a spoiler alert :)
My very boring strategy: Have a really powerful Denam and a bunch of Shamans and a stinky healer, give everyone healing items and float shoes. Ignore the dupes. Wait for the risk management to not trigger and OHKO his first form while the AI chases my wizards. After the reset, bring everyone who’s knocked out back to life, then continue the same trick - he will go after the wizards first but if he can’t kill them in one hit they can just keep healing while Denam beats him to death. Having said that, this strategy requires Strength/Agility around 300-350 so not everyone will do this.
My first time through this fight, dude has around 150 health left. Everyone is incapped except Mirdyn, and he has no MP and is too far away to do anything even if he did. But he could blessing-stone my generic Witch. She stood up, meditated and then blasted him to save the day. Was intense. My second time I cheesed him with Solo Phalanx Denam.
Broooooo I coincidentally am on the law path and just recruited a bunch of dragons at the volcano. I was able to use this strat (after many failures) to clear Oz and Ballz without incaps (which is making me dread boss fights). So thanks for the inspiration.
@@CoffeePotato Honestly Ballman was the hardest since he couldn't counterattack. Oz kept getting crits and meteoring himself into oblivion but it was very hard to get B to attack correct targets. I'm also sad because the first time Oz dropped an alluring dress and the second time a card. Ugh.

The way I beat this guy, that pretty much works with any team you might have up to this point is just to collect 3 auto cards on a phalanx knight, and then pling the boss with long range magic every turn.
Guess he caught on to my plan... he didn't target the clump of dragons I had, but only one (and one that didn't proc dragon scale). Long story short, I just got obliterated... lol. I guess I need to try something else.
And why does a boss like him have Risk Management? That should be illegal... Plus: I got slapped with condemn, and he murdered my cleric that could counter it. Things did not go as planned LOL
@@jonkohrr2.06 Swap cleric to a different element, dark hits extra hard vs Divine. It's kinda nice to see him going tryhard this time after being a curb stomp since the 90s.
@@CoffeePotato Update: I managed to beat him with just sheer awesomeness. Swapped the dragons for my favorite melee attackers and stocked up on healing items, plus a few bombs to lobber at him. The bombs were a lifesaver!
This tactic is money. Did it with 6 dragons. 2 fusiliers 2 archers denam and flying dude. Didn't lose a single unit and he kept nuking himself down. Won 1 on the first try
If you don’t already have one.. would you do a video on stat growth? Like how it works, what each class gets? I saw people talking about leveling chars as one class and then switching to another to make different stats grow faster.
@@CoffeePotato there’s some guides out there that alleged Hanging garden would be nigh impossible without doing Potd at least once. This didn’t make sense to me as Potd is an optional dungeon. Thanks for the clarification.
I ended up having to do the dragon army plus Denam, Catiua, a fairy and a lizardman. In the end, only lost the lizardman due to the first form getting the permadeath effect out on the field before he then suicided via Dragon Scale, so I couldn't even use the Chariot to try and undo the effect before the second phase.
So I used the lob strategy to beat the game for the first time, just now. SPOILER: My ending was the one where Denam gets shot... by a knight? That's not canon! Knights can't use those things. Believe me, I've tried! I tried half-heartedly to save Catiua, but I just hate her so much for whatever reason. She's always whining and pulling my arm, needily. Then she stabs herself for NO DISCERNABLE REASON. It's gotta be mental illness. So if she kills herself, then I get shot at the end? Kinda dark.
Pretty much every single part of that situation is part of the "it makes a little more sense every different playthrough." Appeal of this game. It never hammers you over the head with it.
@@CoffeePotato Okay, I'll unlock the various other endings. I'm sure I can find them all using "World Chariot" or whatever it's called. Gotta admit, I'm really enjoying this remake. Lots of goodies in there.
@@treygreen6983 It's not just endings, though, it's in everything. My favorite example is how Hektor seems like a Pompous ass in two routes, an idiot in the other, then you piece it together, and the guy's trying to defect, but pissed that removed his wife from the board. Same as Catiua's betrayal makes no sense at first, but you realize both she and Tarty basically line up in their goal of "end this stupid war as fast as possible, ignore the generational drama". ...or how Vyce seems to have a rival complex, which he does, but his real goal is to set himself apart from Denam to get out of the friend zone. Even in his best ending, this doesn't succeed, and that's hilarious.
I tried so many different strategies and keep failing. This boss is the definition of absurd. It doesnt let you revive units, hits like a truck, and pops auto defense on every turn making him invulnerable. Now, phase 1 is doable ok. Phase 2 its just not fun.
In the PSP version dumb ol me couldn't beat his ass because my own units made it hell for me.... So I went and made them all bare naked and no skill only items IV and zerged him like a flok of idiots. Worked but kinda dumb lol.
Ugh every time I try this the dude does Risk Management straight out of the starting gate. And my dragons get slaughtered because they NEVER cast Scale on themselves. The doppelgänger dragons do right away. Is there a trick to getting my units to do their skills? I came in with Catiua’s Lucky Star skill loaded. The doppelgänger Catiua cast it as soon as it was her turn. After the fourth round, mine was dead. Even my Lich didn’t cast Reflect. It got so frustrating I just turned the game off
The trick is skill cards and backup plans. This is just a cheesy way to do the fight. Bring Fortify/Dodge items, pocket heals, hit Dorgy with a Brand to Weaken him, use poison on his dragons to melt them out of the fight, etc. I'll have more on how to handle this in a proper team sense when I have time, but it's not just one trick.
Heaven generals, though it depends on which definition of "Final Boss". The story final boss is an attrition fight, so most struggle there at first. The Coda 2 final boss is similar, but moreso just a weird rescue mission out of nowhere. The Coda 4 boss, especially if doing the Challenge version, is definitely the hardest fight in the game. 3 vs 18, 6 of those are previous bosses, they have an up to 21 level advantage, all have Relic gear, all have disabling debuffs, and they come with the biggest terrain advantage possible. Even with a full party it's a pretty hard fight, but Coda 4 Trio is the only way to get the final trophy relic in the game. Even on successful attempts, it can take well over an hour to beat. Paradoxically, despite this being the fastest version of the game, this is one of the longest fights full stop, because you could just one shot everyone with little effort in PSP. Now they not only have that advantage on you, but get a lot of new skills.
Your perception of opportunities to manipulate interacting mechanics is Really impressive. You could apply that analytic skill to lots of games. Or even real-world problem-solving.
Hardcore SRPG players are like this. Im not hardcore SRPG player but i like to analyze and find new and sometimes unorthodox ways to beat stages, and especially if it has multiplayer pvp i like to find ways to kill metas that communities develop.

What a difficulty spike. What makes it frustrating is nothing activates for you while they get all skills and Dorgalua seems to have 2 turns to your 1. Classic Square gimmick boss.
@@CoffeePotato Yeah I unfortunately killed everything and don't have the abilities needed to win. Not giving up just had to start over and clearly don't go with hired mercs recruit more creatures. A lot of info is hidden in game that should be clearer. Based on my choices, the Neutral Route is way harder than the Lawful Route so far. Almost did it too was within 2 hits of victory. CHALLENGE: Try final boss with only Denam and 1 Healer on Neutral Route. My Denam was Dark Knight Build (HP Absorb). That dam risk management, if anything strong team makes phase 1 harder.
If I had known how hard this fight was gonna be, I'd have gone with Lord Denam (no longer an option), so I guess dragon scale is gonna be my strat. Off to the woods I go to make some scaly boi friends. P.S. am I the only one who never gets skill procs in this game? Auto Trigger cards seem to spawn near enemies who trigger their skills anyway, but not near me.
This might be a dumb question, but are you able to give the ogre blade to a generic and body swap with any of the non-recruitable bosses like Dorgalua or Oz?
Tried twice but the dragons have no interest in procing scale...oh and risk management is absolutely bs....I have a good team and done potd no probs but this fight is the first proper bs flag but I'll perservere
@@bd9045 If you have the Lord class, which you get if you made a choice that puts you on the trajectory to the bad ending, you can equip any skill from any class you were previously in. So you can just reclass to a bunch of classes at like level 40 and then reclass to Lord to use ridiculous skill combos. How I did it was equipping Denam with brynhildr and lombardia, equipping the skills 1h swords, meditate iv, phalanx iii, and the auto skill that removes debuffs (it's called mother's [something]), and giving Denam a bunch of healing items. On the first phase, before finishing it, collect 3-4 skill cards so that those skills proc pretty much always and you will be pretty much unkillable for plenty of time to deal with the second phase by spamming finishers. I made Denam light element and spammed the 4th 1h sword finisher you get. Hope this helps anyone.

I quit on this game for its final boss, can't purchase stocks and items that i need, pretty much fked up when i enter hanging garden.
Tell me what you're running (or send the save if on Steam), and I'd like to show how to make it work. These kind of puzzles are some of the most fun to figure out.
Speaking of beating him in different ways, I wonder if some mad lad out there stoned him to death lol
Fine, I'll get it done...
Nope, but it is a fun move.
My very boring strategy:
Have a really powerful Denam and a bunch of Shamans and a stinky healer, give everyone healing items and float shoes.
I love that both of these options are possible.
Broooooo I coincidentally am on the law path and just recruited a bunch of dragons at the volcano. I was able to use this strat (after many failures) to clear Oz and Ballz without incaps (which is making me dread boss fights). So thanks for the inspiration.
Glad to help! It's a funny strategy, and falls off for anything other than heavy bosses, but it's fun!
Ugh.
@@JohnofPA If you're looking for a Prox, they drop like candy mid POTD now.
for me, the first face i ended up losing too many times but i had a funny idea so i baited to the edge corner on the map and wait to the enemy units close to me to be pushed one by one out the map. the second face is unclear to me right now but i triyng to figure it out an idea to defeat him
The way I beat this guy, that pretty much works with any team you might have up to this point is just to collect 3 auto cards on a phalanx knight, and then pling the boss with long range magic every turn.
Happens, that's why this is kind of a meme strategy. There's a lot of ways to crack this nut.
@@CoffeePotato Update: I managed to beat him with just sheer awesomeness. Swapped the dragons for my favorite melee attackers and stocked up on healing items, plus a few bombs to lobber at him. The bombs were a lifesaver!
@@jonkohrr2.06 Great job pulling off the full team win! Now for the utter lunacy that is the post game!
Will do. It's on the list for this week.
4 Necros with Paradigm Shift did the trick for me 😆😆😆
That'll do it!
Fairy, parry, situation hairy because the enemy is to marry the pumpkin fairy.
Kinda Scary there, Harry.
Should I do Potd before the hanging gardens?
Up to you! You get extra stuff later for doing so, but it'll be much harder before completing the HG at least once.
@@CoffeePotato there’s some guides out there that alleged Hanging garden would be nigh impossible without doing Potd at least once. This didn’t make sense to me as Potd is an optional dungeon. Thanks for the clarification.
Dude, you got a shout out by AustinSV on his tactics ogre version comparison vid.
T E C H N I C A L L Y
darn, can you make a no incapacitated run in this game? OMG, your troops are dropping like flies with the final boss...
@@Fugazity Yeah, No Incap is possible, I just prefer risk strats these days. I have a No Incap guide on the pile for someday.
I tried so many different strategies and keep failing. This boss is the definition of absurd. It doesnt let you revive units, hits like a truck, and pops auto defense on every turn making him invulnerable. Now, phase 1 is doable ok. Phase 2 its just not fun.
It's doable, he's just a solid mechanics check. Considering beating him before was as easy as "bring items", it's refreshing for the old timers.
Uhhhh, I just beat him using all of the specials from Law route stacked with 3 100% healing salves and 1 blessing stone each, iunno.
True, but that ain't funny. 👍
I support the “Just beat the tar out of him” technique
@@ryanruopp3711 But he just wanted to be oil!
In the PSP version dumb ol me couldn't beat his ass because my own units made it hell for me.... So I went and made them all bare naked and no skill only items IV and zerged him like a flok of idiots. Worked but kinda dumb lol.
Yeah, that's why I love how they redid him. "Launch Orbs 5 times and go home" was a little dull.
can we beat him with reflection skill on lich? i think it will make him self destruct also
This is how I accidentally beat him on my first run though. Totally works, I took zero damage.
You can also use 2 Shaman to hit with maximum aoe attacks
Does a lich reflect work on this similar to the dragons?
No, Orbs and Dorgy spells are physical with element, not magic.
I'll have more on how to handle this in a proper team sense when I have time, but it's not just one trick.
same as how I dealt with the heavenly generals.Btw which one is harder? The heavenly general or the final boss?
Where did you get thunder shot on your fusilier? I have never come in contact with that
I beat this in a very different way. Ghosts and warlock pumpkin heads ; )
@@yarrow2192 That'll do it, too! Thunder Shots are just at the store. You can also craft them, but the store is cheaper.
i wish i was as cool as you
Aww, thanks, I think you are!
i killed him with only one dragon woth scales lol slow bit effective. i still think this was an significa dificulty spike.
I reached CODA but my Canopus is dead....what do I do????
I wanted cressida and divine knight but now I can't access san bronso ........
@@keopsps3474 Go to World. Replay that first Canopus fight. Warp back to Coda and continue.

I do, it's called being a dad of 3 🤣. "Mom needs to sleep in, we got requests for an impossible breakfast from 2 tired kiddos and the other one's snotty, but hates the nose sucker. All will yell if they don't get what they want. How do we get this done?

Is there a title for no incapacitations? If so, I'll have to do a zombie run at some point, so I don't need to worry about it.
What a difficulty spike. What makes it frustrating is nothing activates for you while they get all skills and Dorgalua seems to have 2 turns to your 1. Classic Square gimmick boss.
He's always been cheesable with items or shield stall strats, but this is funnier.
When you want random things to happen, they never will 🤣. Just carry backup plans for them, and it'll seem like they're always triggering.
This might be a dumb question, but are you able to give the ogre blade to a generic and body swap with any of the non-recruitable bosses like Dorgalua or Oz?
Nope, that'd be interesting
I beat dorgala but I lost my two healers and one of the shamans 😢
Time for new units!
On the psp version the doppelgangers were easy you lobbed a crap ton of bombs to do damage
i tryed this strat multiple times but i never get anny procs....
There's more consistent ones, this one's just amusing.
can someone please tell me how to negate his condemn ability i google it and i can never find anything on the topic
Clerics have a SKILL (not a spell) called Absolution.
Cleric or Priest
Can you win without a single unit going down? I got so close but he knocked my dragon off the edge! 😑
Tried twice but the dragons have no interest in procing scale...oh and risk management is absolutely bs....I have a good team and done potd no probs but this fight is the first proper bs flag but I'll perservere
I just soloed him with denam lol.
Yea cool. How
@@bd9045 If you have the Lord class, which you get if you made a choice that puts you on the trajectory to the bad ending, you can equip any skill from any class you were previously in. Hope this helps anyone.
oh and also equip heal 3 so you can heal infinitely, speed up may be nice too.
There is no extra bonus content in this game, my disappointment is immeasurable
Your weapon skill too low coffee. It did happen to me when i tried it with occoine with blowgun 1.
Yeah, I threw him in at 1 just to have something in there. He only knows spears.

I feel like all your videos could be 80% shorter and more direct to the point. U annoy me so much by speaking so much without saying anything.
I know a bit off topic, but do you know how to make a lich? Someone sad its an item that drops in floor 33 in potd but I had a super hard fight there and nothing dropped.
floor 41 or 42ish has 2 liches that you can recruit, its kind of a wild recruitment Lol but i did it earlier its possible
or go to pirate graveyard to recruit lich
the item is called Ring of the Dead it didnt drop until floor 51 or so of my run. I recruited the two liches from the beezlebub fight long before I saw the ring of the dead. And yeah you can goto the pirate graveyard is an earlier one apparently, i didnt do that
@@soandsononame8750 I did recruit liches allready but I want to turn a unique unit into one. It looks like the best caster class.
Floor 53, death eater. Dropped ring of the dead.
Not sure if it matters but I farmed 53 with the two death eaters and never got it. The layout with only 1 death eater dropped it for me. Again, not sure if that matters.
Update: make sure to trigger event on floor 41.
I don't have these answers on how. I'm sure Google can help with that.
