- Installing the Mysticsmoker.com hinges on the 250-gallon cooker.
This is Episode #3 in the Mysticsmokers 250 Gallon Direct Flow Instructional Build Series.
Really great instruction, Mike, I truly enjoy your meticulous execution and your thorough explanation of your methodology and philosophy. Thank you so much for putting in the time and effort to make these videos, your wisdom will definitely help people for many, many years to come!
Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm glad you found the information helpful. Don't hesitate to reach out if I can help in any way.
I will say as someone who has been welding for years your videos are fantastic. Very informative with pit building. Thank you!
Wow, thanks!
After cutting off my 1st hinges - I used your technique with the rod. Great idea and worked perfect. Thanks for sharing! Also the door bands, patch kit and inner braces I ordered from you all fit my 30" perfect! Well done!
That's great news!!!!
I love to hear how things work out. Thanks for that.
Sir, I have watched your first 3 Episodes and your knowledge and the way you explain things makes it so much easier to understand. You have great tips for me when I build my 250 trailer comp pit. Thank you!!! Best how to pit build I've seen thus far
Thank you so much. I think you will enjoy the coming episodes. Collector construction amd firebox joinery is fun.
@@mysticsmokers3014 looking forward to it
I thought I was a perfectionist, not even close. Unbelievable job!
Thank you much fir the kind words Robert.
It may be " just a cooker" but I believe it should be done well if you have the capability to do so. Hopefully, the series will give others the confidence to attack their own builds and perhaps even generate new ideas and processes.
Excellent videos. Best ive found so far!!! Thanks for making these.
Thanks buddy. That's great to hear.
Let me know if there's a topic or area you think guys could benefit from future videos.
@@mikencrcf6018 will do. Just started building my 250gallon. Going to be a slow long build but going to be worth it. Will be ordering some hinges and parts from you soon!
Good information
Thanks. I hope you got some tips or ideas.
I was planning on bending my door bands on, glad to see you sale rolled bands. Just ordered some. Great informative videos. Now if only i had a rotisserie like yours haha.
That's great to hear!!!
Be sure to watch the collector kit video. It makes the video on making a collector from scratch obsolete.
Lol. There's a video on the rotisserie build table too.
BTW, I respect how clean your shop is lol
Lol. It takes a lot of work to keep it clean and clear of clutter. Anything I'm not immediately using stays in a shed. Its amazing how fast one can clutter up a shop.
I worked in a tiny space for many years. It's nice to have room to move around.
Is your horizontal bands on top of the vertical bands?
Awesome videos!!! Do you have a cut file or measurements for those hinges.
I do not distribute the files for my hardware. I do sell the hardware itself, however. Thanks.
Thinking of buying the hinges but was curious what do you use for door stops?
Funny, you ask this at this point. I'm literally drawing a fold down door stop as I'm typing this.
It will have two short blades like the hinge, but the long part will have a locking slot.
It will lay down matching the radius of the tank when not in use.
When you are ready to cook, just flip it up and let it drop into its locked position.
I am enjoying the 250 gal cooker build series. Do you make your hinges or purchase them?
I make and sell the laser cut hinges and other hardware. You can find them on my website mysticsmokers.com or the Etsy shop by the same name.
Thanks for the kind words.

The 250 gallon tank that I have is spiral welded, similar to a barber pole. Have you ever built a smoker from one like mine? Am I going to run into trouble when cutting open the doors?
I cut a pipe like that several years that belonged to a customer. It flexed so much that it knocked the grinder out of my hand.
I have avoided them since.
This was before Facebook build groups. I'd ask that question in one of those groups.
I'm sure there are grades or classes of that pipe. Some may be safer. The one I had was downright dangerous.
What's the inner diameter of a 250???
The outer diameter is 30".
If the tank is 1/4" wall thickness, that gives us 29.5". But not all tanks are the same thickness.
If you tell me what you need that measurements for, I may be able to guide you further. Feel free to email me at mysticsmokers@gmail.com
