    Have you tried combining the collector box with a 90 degree elbow? If you re-worked your template, you could probably find a good way to fit them within each other and get the best of both worlds. I plan to try that with an upcoming build, and will likely use your templates as my starter..

    Do you your tank with water in. It

    • @mysticsmokers3014
      @mysticsmokers3014 Месяц назад

      No sir. Here's my process: This is my method: 1. Make sure it's empty. 2. Remove the valves and vents. 3. Dump one gallon of cheap dish soap inside. 4. Add one quart or so of bleach and fill it about 5 or 6 inches with water. It's just enough to cover the bottom good. That's where all the greasy mercaptan will have settled to. This step will pay off later. 5. Allow to sit for a few days if you have time. If you can pull it around on a trailer, that helps shake the soap up. Otherwise, reach in with a broom handle and stir a few times. 6. Fill to overflowing with water while on level ground. Make sure the water completely fills the tank and flows out the top. 7. Sometimes, I like to use a carbide holesaw and drill a 4 inch hole where my collector will be. That allows me to put a pressure wash wand in there and help flush that mercaptan off the bottom surface where it settled over the years. Use a cordless drill to avoid electrocution!!!! 8. Drain and begin your tank layout process. Watch my video series for tips. ruclips.net/p/PLOAnrxoOXhlcen4bnoxXA1KwQM6aUkyQP

    Thanks for this excellent video series! I'm hoping to follow this along to a T with my build. I had a question. When laying out the doors you come off from the 12 o'clock position by 2 inches to mark the top position of the door. Is this just to allow for a bit of room so the hinges sit at the 12 o'clock position after assembling?

    • @mysticsmokers3014
      @mysticsmokers3014 3 месяца назад

      I have actually started coming down 3 inches from 12 o'clock now on 250 and 330g systems. There are several reasons. It makes the door a bit shorter which helps with weight. A smaller door is less likely to flex during cutting. The shorter door makes it easier to place the door at full open extension by placing the hinge line lower and closer to you. On 30" diameter tanks, coming down 3 or even 4 inches does bot reduce the top grate size enough to be noticeable.

      @mysticsmokers3014 5 месяцев назад

      Funny, you ask this at this point. I'm literally drawing a fold down door stop as I'm typing this. It will have two short blades like the hinge, but the long part will have a locking slot. It will lay down matching the radius of the tank when not in use. When you are ready to cook, just flip it up and let it drop into its locked position.

    • @mysticsmokers3014

      I use 6" sch#10. 40S is ok if you can't sourse 10S. The added weight of 40S is unnecessary. The added wall thickness does nothing beneficial. The later video on the laser cut collector kit makes building collectors kinda pointless unless you just enjoy the process. There is nothing wrong with that but the one in this video was my last for sure. You can literally tack the kit login 5 minutes vs a full day by scratch.

    Hi. Great videos, I’m building a 120 gallon smoker right now with my dad. But I wanted to ask what cutting wheel brand or model do you recommend? Any other tool must have’s you would recommend? Thank you in advance

    • @mysticsmokers3014
      @mysticsmokers3014 6 месяцев назад

      The tools that I could not do without are (in order of importance after a good quality mig welder): 1. The build table 2. 4.5" grinder(s) 3. Carbide chop saw 4. Torch (plasma will work, but a torch is more versatile) I would say those 4 items are necessary for me. Everything else just makes the job easier. The cutting wheel for the grinder is 1.2mm cutter from Amazon. I use 36,50,80 grit sanding discs with the backing plate on a second grinder to avoid having to swap over. I've tried about every grinder out there. My favorite is the little Dewalt (DWE43116). I have 4 of them set up for different functions. I prefer the Evolution 380 chop saw. Evolution S380CPS There are two versions. This model is more expensive, but it's virtually bulletproof. I use the 14" blades for mild steel. I hope this helps. Feel free to reach out via email at mysticsmokers@gmail.com. I can provide a phone number there for text questions. That's my preference.

    You vediis are top notch as far as the detail you go into on how to do things good job say ive been watching and learning and I'm about to start by 250 gal one of your videos you filled the tank with soap water and took it for a ride then drilled a hole after that hole is in there do you start making cuts on the empty tank? I want to make sure I do the first cut rite for obvious reasons and the way my tank is designed the valves and openings are on the end cap so unless you stand it vertically you can not get it 100% full of water.

    • @mysticsmokers3014
      @mysticsmokers3014 7 месяцев назад

      Those tanks can be a pain to clean out, but they sure are nice otherwise. Just stand that bugger up fill er up. You want the water to push all possible remaining has out. If it overflows at the top, you've done that. Be very careful.. that's a lot of wgt.
