I miss Alaska so much, that at times my heart hurts. I hope to see it again, my health permitting. Until then however, I can be there - through you guys. Thank you for this!
A lots got to do with the hull shape... Ideally you don't want it to be get a grip on the sides ..rather better to pop the boat up and out as against the squeeze... One of the first vessels to pass the NW passage did it that way locked overwintering in the ice current. It was immensely strong, insulated and essentially barrel shaped ... but was terrible to actually sail. If I remember it was a Norwegen or Danish expedition. Steel, Aluminium or Conceivably Basalt might do it. There was an experimental racer built for a double high latitudes OCR event look for the name Magma and Basalt fiber sailing Racer.
@ sounds like it’s probably above my price range. I’m looking around 120k usd tops. Probably a well maintained 80s or 90’s Bruce Roberts or Ted Brewer dual helm pilothouse design.
Y'all being in that bay full of ice reminds me of a sci-fi novel I read years ago. If I remember the name, I'll let you know. Wait, I remember it now. It was The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula Le Guin.
I can't imaging how much work you put into filming and editing this. You did a fantastic job. I really enjoyed this. Thank you!
Awe, thank you for recognizing and appreciating that! We're so glad you enjoyed this one, thank you for writing!

Awe, we love Alaska. Some of the last un-spoilt landscapes on the planet. Thank you for watching!
Brrrrr from Bali😊❤
haha we could use some of Bali's dry sunny weather right about now!
That food looks really good!
Thank you! The warm bone broth definitely hit the spot💫
Beautiful! Amazing trip.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it.
You're braver sailors than I am.
The way all that ice can suddenly sneak up on you is why I'm only considering steel hull boats.
Awe, thank you. Its all just calculated risk. A steel boat is a great option, but certainly not necessary!

haha the story of lone human's emissaries to Winter..
@@AllisonandJamesSailing I don't remember any seals or grizzly bears in the novel. You are the lone humans now.
Do not repeat do not immerse oneself in the ice pack. 🥶😜 Not without dry suits lol. 🧙🏼♂️
lol You definitely wouldn't want to be in the water for very long without an immersion suit, no...
