There is no other version of this song that comes close, this is exactly how it should be. Gaelic Storm killed it on this one!
Great Big Sea's version is quite lively.
My father in law just died. Love you Fred. We will remember you forever.
Mr Paddy Murphy, we'll be drinkin' to ya 'til we see all o' yunz in March, up in Wisconsin there, eh?!😂🤣
Can't wait to see you! 🎶
Everything about this makes me happy.
My brother sent me this when my husband died.
I love it
That wouldn't be Shaun the Sheep peeking into the lead singer"s frame, would it? I always wanted to see that one holding a bottle o' something. He's only a kid's character during his day job, you know ;) Great job!! Love me some Gaelic Storm
I'm remembering the night Pat and I ran the bar out of Jamesons. Such a great group to listen to and party with, Pat and Steve especially.
the best birthday present i got dis yea.
Those bagpipes were badass!
It only took 25 years, but I knew eventually you'd get to this one. Excellent! It will be nice singing along to this one at a show again.
Love you all! So glad when you perform at Woodstock Opera House or the Egyptian Theater in Dekalb, Illinois 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Ill always be an okie from Muskogee

Come to Vegas!
We saw them last month in Austin! Great show, and Natalya is doing an awesome job on the fiddle! Can't wait for next year!
Beautiful music, amazing talent, totally awesome Man Caves/Lady Lairs.

Oh the irony: Pat Murphy singing a song about Pat Murphy dying xD
Saw you guys last night in Knoxville. Another great event! Next time, a round on me at Clancy's.
Great Big Sea does an awesome version of this but the pipes take it to another level.
Another great version of this song!!!!
I have a best friend who actually consider a brother. He does as well because we both only had sisters growing up. His name is Tim Muphy and while he's American, loves and respects the culture he is a part of. He found the place his ancestors were buried in Ireland and I went with him to visit. His dad is literally Patrick Murphy and I tell Tim I can't wait to play this song while hoping I wait a bit longer to play it.
Love it! Can't wait to see you in person again.
Thank you! We can't wait to see you too! 🍻
@@gaelicstormvideos Thx for such spellbinding perform!
Ahhhh….so many great, but blurry memories! Slainte! See you soon… all 10 of you!!! 🤪🍻
Feel better Twigger, hope to see you back on the road soon.
I wish my name was Pat Murphy so they could play this at my funeral!
So looking forward to seeing you all on St. Patrick's day in Green Bay!
Can't wait! 🍻
Oh, the night that Paddy Murphy died is a night I'll never forget
Some of the boys got loaded drunk, and they ain't been sober yet!
As long as a bottle was passed around, everyone was feeling gay
O'Leary brought the bagpipes, some music for to play!
That's how they showed their respect for Paddy Murphy
That's how they showed their honor and their pride
They said it was a sin and shame, and winked at one another
And every drink in the house was full the night Pat Murphy died!
Well, Mrs. Murphy sat in the corner, pouring out her grief
When Kelly and his gang came tearing down the street
They went into an empty room and a bottle of whiskey stole
And kept that bottle with the corpse to keep the whiskey cold!
That's how they showed their respect for Paddy Murphy
That's how they showed their honor and their pride
They said it was a sin and shame, and winked at one another
And every drink in the house was full the night Pat Murphy died!
About two o'clock in the morning, after emptying out the jug
Doyle lifted up the icebox lid to see poor Paddy's mug
They changed the clock so Mrs. Murphy couldn't tell the time
At a quarter after two, well we argued it was nine!
That's how they showed their respect for Paddy Murphy
That's how they showed their honor and their pride
They said it was a sin and shame, and winked at one another
And every drink in the house was full the night Pat Murphy died!
We stopped the hearse on George Street, outside Sundance Saloon
We all went in at half past eight, and staggered out at noon
We went up to the graveyard, so holy and sublime
And realized when we got there, we'd left the corpse behind!
That's how they showed their respect for Paddy Murphy
That's how they showed their honor and their pride
They said it was a sin and shame, and winked at one another
And every drink in the house was full the night Pat Murphy died!

I was at their concert in N.C. Cats cradle and my sister held up a sign that said “I’m Nora and I’m here to bring out the brandy!” And because of her we got called on stage.
Thx
Do Queen of Argyll!!
My grandma was a Murphy.
The only reason I know you guys is from the Irish feast in Waterloo iowa
Goodyear Theater
Wait, there’s no footage from the infamous balcony dive? That’s what I thought this song was going to be about.
Did you know this is a Newfoundland song and not an Irish song?
This video brought to you by Cider Boys. 🤣
Who is pat murphy?
Does it really matter?
wtf
pat is a clown
I'm Irish. Your disgrace. How you take my music to shame.
And why would that be?
Patrick Murphy is from Cork you tool…
Póg mo thóin…
This song is from Newfoundland.
Considering that only one member of the band is Irish, that seems like less of a big deal. Not to mention that it's about a group of Irish immigrants having a wake - an Irish tradition - in their new home of Newfoundland. Gaelic Storm, despite (or maybe because of) its diversity of members, does SO MUCH to keep Irish heritage and culture alive in America. They deserve thanks, not insults.
Scalliwag for ever! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾❤️🖖🏾
