I don't think I have ever seen Bam without sunglasses on, and I'm 50 years old !!!
He has a lot to hide
He wears shades so he can look at little boys on the low.
Wow the cap guy speaks soooo well, giving a historical purpose to records is so fondamental !
"We'll have to be very careful with these…"
***** Preach brother! Records are supposed to be fun, there meant to be played. I understand that they are also collector's items but I can't watch one damn video on vinyl without someone bitching about the handeling of the vinyl. C'mon guys, chill out!!!
DJ Blur HaHa! I like the Elvis analogy. If you listen to the video, it sounds like Bambaataa likes the wear & tear on his vinyl. It has some sort of special meaning to him. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt though, this collection wasn't his. I say if it's yours, handle it however you want to. Aside from blatant damage of course. I also do understand that there are people out there that no nothing about the handeling vinyl. However, accoring to youtube, no one does.
I would if i wasnt a fucking nerd.
Records really ain't the only things that Bam has laid his hands on ;)
you can put your fingers on the grooves dude haha. kidding me?
why isnt bambaataa showing his collection from a personal view. who is this guy with the cap anyway?
This is one of the greatest episodes of Crate Diggers almost by default, let alone the cultural/historical profundities provided by Afrika's insightful assistant. I noticed alot of ignorant hate spewing out of the youtube section directed at an undeserving target. Not surprising at all.
Peace & Love to the Zulu Nation.
Yo here is me marathoning crate diggers on a slow night at work in the north and BEN is here, out of nowhere. Nice to see you, sir
Garage band loops goin in the background
song at 2:50 contains a sample from Apple Loops called Upbeat Electric Piano 01
5:11 peep that ATCQ's "People's Instinctive Travels and Paths of Rhythm". Classic!
Rapper Man 👍
Bam had 12 crates of wax when they named him "Master of Records"
Questlove record collection! Or Nardwuar!
Both of those guys big time plus Gilles Peterson, madlib, kon and Amir, Dj yoda, and cut chemist
They done cut chemist
+Slicka Splunderful We need a Madlib episode!
Wow I've been thinking Questlove as I've been watching this series but Nardwuar would be amazing
@@DOUBLEOHWIZ Great picks

Afrika baambaata used to select records for DJs like Arthur Baker, Flash and Kool Herc to play but he was never a beat matching , scratch DJ. He just played records back to back much like a DJ like Tim Westwood.
Bambaataa Archive! say Word.
Where would hip hop be without the 60's and 70's... times when you had máster your instruments...
Dj kool herc The Godfather of hip hop should be on crate diggers
He's real secretive about records he don't even wanna talk about obvious ones that everybody knows.😂
Much love and respect to the nation 🙏
Amazing.
Give Mario his props
Afrika Bam BOOTY!!!! BAM BOOTYYYY! Dam Bam did you really mess with boy butt?
True Hip Hop history.
It's too bad this guy's legacy is shadowed now by whatever happened outside the studio. I don't know if he's guilty or not, probably is if several ppl have come forward. I still bump Planet Rock every now and then just like everybody still hears Micheal Jackson. Wtf were ya thinking though dude?! Smh
Man I hate believing he did what he is accused of. He was "above the clouds", now Im discused by his face and voice.
*disgusted*
herse'
@@MegaToneProductions that too.
4 real
this is the record collection that invented "Homies over Hoes"
I was waiting for a Kraftwerk record.
There are so many!!
My man was inspired by Sun Ra
the house of music LOL you know iam going here
Interesting to see the items from Egypt and other countries in that storage when people have been recently getting up in arms about Museums in England housing items from other countries that they 'took'
where the heck are you?! @10:00
lol what are you doing there with abraham documents lol
Lets put the birth of hip hop in the Ivy League library , so only the most wealthy and privileged can access it. Great idea.
Cornell University Library is not an all access media facility. You have to acquire permission, unless you are a full time student or staff.
+Daniel Olson Or, let's honor this legendary man's legendary music by placing it in association with a highly respected institution where it will be curated and cared for. Perspective, buddy.
Glad I could enlighten you.
+Daniel Olson It's open to the public and I have been there, it is a truly amazing sight.
always great to see how it is with these pioneers....b_boyin to "planet rock" back in the days....got me hooked on the early hip hop scene...still have my collection...every record has a story as to why buying it...you spread your tale by Djin it....!....its a frantic.....situation.....being a renegade of funk !!
pulls out 11 year old boy...
Young Nino Lmao
Savage 😂
HAHHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!
Much respect!
Thighs
One of the best episodes going to put this in my daily vlog!

Savage. 🤣
The KING of this ish! Salute Afrika! ZULUNATION - Logikbomb
those Ampex 456's are pretty much mush and won't play, wish they could have digitized them in the 80's
Is that bams personal collection of vinyl and historical artefacts?
Yea
& a collection of thighs
It's part of his collection which was donated to Cornell University Library, the cuneiform tablet and papyrus scroll were already part of the library and did not belong to him.
Tbh,I'm too old to have not known about "you know what".
Having found out about the accusations, I'm just here for the comments.
My favorite was the one below where dude says
"Pulls out 11 year old boy"
And then I'm cracking about the narrator talking bout "Afrikka Bambataa taught us,"
And then bambataa says
"what we call the brainwashing technique"
titles and artists taped out to block the trainspotters.... to bad you can't hide your selections in this social media era
Where/what is this place!?
A museum somewhere
It’ll be in the Smithsonian once he goes to jail
Daniel I do agree with you
Really wanna know what book that is
Directory of all the Elementary schools in NY.
I really hope this Ben Ortiz dude can get busy on some turntables....
He spoke alot about what "every hip hop dj should" or "better" have...
He better be able to get down,
What's the name of the book he is holding in his left hand?
Math for non asians by rae kwon
The Destruction of tender thighs
A law book for his defense
Honestly it sounds ridiculous, but I think it might just be a dictionary or encyclopedia that he put some stickers on. it's clearly part of a set, and those look like stickers since they obviously aren't part of the original cover.
DJ disco king Mario DJ Sinbad DJ cool Dee-d and Tyrone mixologist ♠️♠️♠️♠️ before he even played anywhere learn your hip hop history Bronxdale
thank you!
disco king marios name written on "Bams'' copy of Jimmy Castor LP in wax poetics magazine?
I don't know but that book he is holding may be the book that have tons of photos of little boy's, I'm just saying he is holding it pretty tight...
lock bambatty up he got that book under lock and keys holding it tight
+Charles Addison Damn LOL
4qu MaN Hahaha, that really cracked me up!
Charles Addison He might be holding it as a warning to everyone who knows about it. 'Keep quiet"
Lol. You ain't right.
I set my expectations high for this episode oh well :(
record hoarders driving up prices
Your suggested solution?
why so short? :(
REEEEEEESPECT....
DJs today don't know nothing about cutting no record. The way they do it now my 6 year old daughter can out DJ any of them.
You dont want your 6 y/o around this guy
Word
He might be 50 cents Daddy, what y’all think?
dude with the hat is a muppet...
what was the reason he donated his collection ?
okay, this was very boring. why isn't bambaataa showing his collection? or just talking about cool records?
Cause the collection is getting curated with Cornell university and parts of the collection is on tour with dj shadow and cut chemist for the rengades of rhythm tour
@@DOUBLEOHWIZ
he couldn't travel to Cornel for some reason? They could us why that, is y'know...
Cunts too fat to travel
@@agfagaevart he was probably too busy molesting a kid to travel
RAAfricabambaataa :D
strange assumption that a sleeve in bad condition got a lot of play ; who knows if the record was bought new ? the guy is putting stories into the picture instead of just asking Bambaataa.
MANDA PRA MIM HARMONY - NO JOKE DUB INSTRUMENT MP3

Hi
That cap was meant for a bigger man.
Madlib would prob wet himself.
Afrika my ass
That’s what he’s accused of.
Gross , can’t believe this hasn’t been taken down
That white dude putting his fingers all over records... Smh. Who hired that chump.
His hat looks daft
Wassup BAMBOOTY😂😂😂😂
11 mins for Bambaataa but 2 parts for some jello shot name dude? Garbage...
LORDE OWS jello Biafra punk legend dude.
He wanna play Chubby Checker dat not even rare
This video = Disappointment
Not very personal
Lol Trinity is cool, but TRAX is just bad euro disco cheese!
he can have all the records in the world but he still can't dj for shit
I know more records than him
Assistant Curator sounds fake.
Such an otherwise great legacy thatnhas been tainted & in my opinion, completely ruined by sexual deviance
This should be taken down
Well it still on so stop and sitdown!
so this guys actually doesn't have any records,so he has to act like some record library is part his. weakness
you mean the Assistant Curator?
Perish the thought someone would actually DO their job huh?
CHOMO!
So much ignorance in the comments.
I wanted too here from bambaataa not this lame, who was asking him anyways
👎🏿
