You mentioned you use 9 frames in the mediums, why is that? My hives are so full of bees even during the day when foragers are supposed to be out of the hive. Maybe I need to split them?
You'd only use 9 when you want the bees to pack the honey in, the comb extends from the frame farther and you get a better harvest, and it's also easier to cut the wax cappings off.
Thought that was optical illusion...I've noticed when my boxes are crooked so are comb in frames, God designed them with a built in level. I'd try shimming them and level with a level, just slightly forward to keep out water. Also I'd block off entrance 2/3rds. Bees get more production when not as many guards needed. Also less hive beetles slip in. Thanks again for another video:)
@@BeekeepingWithNatalee You may have, but I use the 5 second skip button a lot to scrub through silent sections, so I could have easily missed a quick comment like that.
The only thing I hate about her video is you can tell someone has went into those hives before she ever got into them. You can tell by how easy she pulls hives apart and how easy the comb separates. So she's not really doing anything but showing you what her dad has told her. Just my observations
Wow your butt hurt , she is showing their bee keeping with viewers , so what if they went into the hives ,they are bee keepers , she is learning with her family but you go to be a grinch , feel free to find other videos elsewhere ,but oh wait they might of been in there boxes ,seriously get a life.
Try Ross Rounds. Much less work to setup and way less to harvest! 32 per super x $10 to $15 per round$$ A little bit of initial cost but payback is quick.
I use to work for an operation out of South Dakota, loading, unloading, driving class B trucks and transporting stuff to the Cowen extraction systems, and pull hundreds of boxes a day. HAND CLEATS. they make hives way easier to lift. When you take the strain off of your finger tips which in turn hinder your lifting. sure, you lose packing density on trucks. But it helps a ton to have them. We also made certain to keep our boxes painted. The moisture just destroys stuff in 2 seasons.
Thank you for the video Natalie. I’m planning to do a bit more comb honey next season and your video answered some questions that I had. Hope you have a great rest of the season.
Hey! During the honey flow is a great time to put some foundation on for them to draw out. It can be hard to get comb but it just takes time. If you don’t have a flow you can always put feed on and that should help them draw it out also. Hopefully this help
Also make 3/4" starter strip frames and drop in brood box between open brood, they hate the gap and it forces them to build , usually in 4-7days. Also with frame open(just starter strip at top) they can still feed back and forth
Hello I did five supers this season an four was filled out great but one did zero on it . The people I sale to in my location loves dark honey so I put three of my comb supers in my dark honey yard . The problem I had the bees filled the comb out thicker than I wanted even with the frames up tight to each other but it still worked out great. As always thanks for your video’s.THANKS
That orange hive looks like it could collapse Natalie. Good content by the way

You've got some really healthy looking poison ivy growing around your hive stand.
Yup I thought I mentioned something in the video but I guess I didn’t.

What do you spray on the bees to make them leave the super thanks a lot
Natalee, you need a boy friend to follow you around in the bee yard and do all of the heavy lifting for you! lol
Nah for the first time ever we disagreed on this topic….
She doesnt need the dunkey.
Seriously why even bring that up ,she is fine doing what she does beekeeping with her family , leave the creepy remarks out that’s not cool.
Time to do some re leveling of hive stands

Awesome! Good luck
Nice job Natalee. Comb honey is tricky for sure. I have done some Ross Rounds in the past and it takes a special kind of colony for the to work.
So true. It’s hard but can be awesome if you can figure it out!
awesome video I'm a 2 yr beekeeper how could I assist the bees to draw comb out. I dont have extra comb just foundation

You are so useful and full of good information & hacks. Thank you.
Thank you very much!
سلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته مشاء الله عليك
I like your insight and videos! Keep up the good work! I am in my first year of beekeeping so in the future this will be helpful knowledge
Glad it was helpful!
I just left skippers. Purchased about 40 queens from him and just placed an order for 135 full colony setups to expand.
Nice!
