Bob I just want to say that I really love your inelegant beekeeping videos. I have been a beekeeper for 25 years and still learning from others. I tell my students not to take advice from people with less than 5 years experience, question those with up to 10 years, 15 years is pretty safe, and 20 or more you are an idiot if you don't listen to them. I tell my students to watch your videos to get another opinion on how to do things a different way as well. We don't know everything no matter how long we have been beekeeping, and that keeps it interesting. Thank you!
Talking about how complex bees are... Our family has been keeping bees for over 100 years... We started in Lebanon in 1920.. The biggest mistake beekeepers make is to predict the behaviour of bees. Bees can outsmart the beekeeper anytime... Just when you think they are most predictable, they can be most unpredictable.
Mr. Binnie, thank you for posting this amazing girl on your channel! Obviously, she'll go far within beekeeping! If you ever make it up to Iowa, I'd love for you to visit my apiary. I'd treasure your advice.

Love your videos. I have a question thou. Is there anyway you can give the bees a certain amount if brood at a certain time in spring to hopefully keep them from swarming and to have them peak out during the main honey flow. I have heard you kinda talk about it in earlier videos but never heard when and the exact numbers.
Hi Peter. Exact numbers of bees and brood necessary are hard to predict if you split early because weather patterns and conditions can change. It's ideal to begin equalizing or splitting to reduce brood in colonies that are too large at least a couple of weeks before they start preparations to swarm. At that time six to eight frames of brood would probably work. Knowing what to do comes with experience.
Nice to know I am not the only one. Every honey harvest I get out my smart electric heated uncapping knife, do a few frames, and the go back to my old trusty serrated bread knife. I just find I have much better control with the unheated knife and end up with a lot less honey in my cappings making it fast and easy to separate the two afterwards.

We'd love to find Natalee's videos, no all we can find is about five, blame it on you tube

Hi sir, I am from india
Plz provide artificial insemination kit for Queen bee.
just buy moving equipment or hire mussel . you go girl wishing you a great life.
Bob, if Natalie keeps growing she may end up as tall as you. She’s definitely an unusual young lady (in a good way)!
She doesn't need to get any taller Don! She might get taller than me!
Kamon, I really don’t think it’s a “might get taller”! I think she’s taken a growth spirt and I really think she’s already taller than you. Just look at her standing beside Bob. I’m 6’3” and Bob is taller than I am, she’s almost to his shoulders. Sorry Buddy!
@@donbearden1953 Poor Kamon is always catching grief for his height. My wife is 4 ft 11 and I always say that "good things come in small packages". LOL After knocking my head on many things over the years I wonder if it is an advantage to being shorter.
@@russellkoopman3004 Russell, my brother just older than me was 6’ 11.5” and he was constantly ducking every where to keep from bumping his head on things! If you’re attending Kamon’s conference please look me up! I want to meet you.
@@donbearden1953 I'm signed up and paid. Only a blizzard would keep me away. Yes, I'd like to meet you also. We'll be two oldies trading bee stories. LOL
Not much sexism here!
