made my first box of comb honey last year, did all 4x4 squares, and the left overs that had open cells i made into pint jar chunk honey. they all sold very well, the chunk honey sold out before the end of summer. i didnt use the heated cutters, instead just used a tomato knife that i had sit in hot water and cut everything with that. used the same baking pan and cooling rack to drain too. think i was surprised about was how much honey i was able to recover from drippings, think i managed almost 2 lbs worth from that 1 box. definitely going to be planning on making more comb honey next summer!
Sure not a weird question it is edible some people like the texture. It is good for you also I personally like to chew it and use it like gum but I normally spit it out after a few minutes.
Skipper calls those "Gus Mitchell Frames." Regular shallow frames would work too wouldn't they? Or does the thinner top bar make it so the uncapped edge ones are removed? I was going to try regular shallow frames with a wedge top bar but now I am wondering if I need to give Skipper a call and get some of these instead.
Well I’m not totally sure about that but I would think it is necessary to have to thinner top bar, I would totally recommend reaching out to skipper if you plan to be at the NAHBE skipper will be there so you could pick up a order there
not clear on the math so please correct me if i'm wrong. i'm guessing on a shallow you can get (hopefully) three 4x4 cuts per frame on a ten frame box. at $20 that's $600
Thank you for your support! We keep our comb supers in a deep freezer. Once we package them, they go right back in the freezer until we sell them. Hope that helps! 🐝 Natalee’s Mom
Well, thank you very much for the video. Young lady I've watched most all of your videos. You seem to know your business very well. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us. I am looking forward to spring and your next video. Have a wonderful day.
Great presentation . I have been doing comb an chunk honey for quite a while now but the last few years it has been doing unbelievable well . I guess more an more people have found out about it. At first people were not willing to try eating it but afterwards I have so much returning customers just about weekly. Also the creamed honey I have had record sales on all three types. Hope you an your family have a very Merry Christmas. Thanks
i did a tiny bit of comb honey this year. i staggered foundation frames and foundationless frames in each box thinking that the bees would cross comb if there was no foundation. do you get away with having a super full of foundationless frames for comb honey?

You realize that’s not how those containers are designed to be used? If you do it right the bees will fill those for you.
i don't follow. the plastic containers?
those cases are not the kind that bees draw out. they are simply for display.
Maybe it's a weird question, but why would you want to eat the comb? Another very well explained video Natalee. Well done.

Great demonstration. If you're bringing any honey to the Expo I'm buying.
Looks like we are bringing some honey then! 😉
Hi I’ll see you in January! Where/how do you store your comb supers before you process them and after does some crystallize in the comb?
Thank you for your support! We keep our comb supers in a deep freezer. Once we package them, they go right back in the freezer until we sell them. Hope that helps! 🐝 Natalee’s Mom

Awesome video! Just curious your pricing on the 4x4 and 2x4?
Thank you for your support! Our current pricing is $12 for the 2x4 and $20 for the 4x4. 🐝 Natalee’s Mom
I like mediums so you can kinda adjust up or down if cells aren’t capped. Plus a lot more chunk honey. Great job!
Where do you purchase your labels? Look forward to seeing you and your family in Louisville.
Thank you for your support! We use Ample Labels in Nixa, MO for our labels. See you at the Expo! 🐝 Natalee’s Mom
I do keep bees. In my country 1 kg of honey is roughly around 12 or 13 dollars...
👌🏼
