I can't quantify how many times I've watched this video....
I can't either. I can't count that high anyway.
Yep it's a good one, I keep listening to this too. I love that little stop start variation in the middle. Russ's pickin Awsome as always.
Several hundred times 4me,hahaha!
I have watched it sometimes 3 or 4 times in a row ~ I am in love with the mandolin picker, too!
Don't worry, RUclips quantifies it just fine.
Doesn’t matter what you have or don’t have. If you can play music like this, you’ll always have something that makes you happy.
The little break at 1:13 and the joy that follows 🤌
That banjo picker is ON FIRE!!!!!
Thanks Harley!

The count is off for me it was 400.400
Boy does this song ring true. I actually did leave the plow in the field, rode the mule back home and went and joined the Navy. That was 1961. Now at 78 I want to go back. The whole place has turned back into a forest.
At least it wasn’t paved over with concrete
Brother I’m 36, just got out of the Navy two years ago, fell in love with an untrue woman while up in Virginia and came back home to good ol East Tennessee. Only difference is the old home place thankfully was still standing and I’ll never leave it. Thank you for your service! ⚓️
My old home place is a Parking lot, for a Dentist Clinic... Alamance N.C.
This song has always been in my top 5.
I would give it a hundred thumbs up if I could!!!
John and Mo sing like brothers, that they feel that they are. Their two families are interchangeable in their performances.
OMG that is EXACTLY how this song is supposed to be played. Been hearing this song since I was born (dad was in bluegrass band) and I swear this is the best version I've ever heard.
Thank you! Omg there’s so many versions of it out there that kinda seem...off... and this is dead on you’re so right. By far the best on yt
Goosebumps. Immediately. 😍🙌🏼
This is the closest to Tony Rice I’ve heard honestly. So good.
@@SgtStickyTits it was originally a Dillards song. It was in a whole different key and a little faster. But this is still awesome
I came here from Josh Turners channel. I got hooked immediately.
The grass ain’t ever been bluer than this!
This is the best version of this song. I’ve listened to it a zillion times and I love it. It’s perfect!!
I left my home exactly ten years ago for a woman who gave me two beautiful children, we moved to the big city of Austin and our marriage fell apart..when I hear this song I weep something bitter.. y’all did great and I hope y’all are still jamming together
I have been playing bluegrass mandolin for 60 plus years and really love how tight this band is ~
If ever there was a perfect version of this song this is it!! Awesome job by all. I’m a mandolin player so naturally I love the solid mandolin by Mary.
Need a CD made by y’all with this Traditional bluegrass!!!!
AMEN
Greatings from Los Angeles. Please make one! I'd defiantly buy it.
Awsome.
Absolutely. I keep coming back to these videos because they are amazing.
PLEASE !!!
Harmony is money right there
I listened to this 11 times in a row. Couldn't stop hitting replay.
“That’s awesome man” is a big understatement. This is my new favorite version of this killer tune ❤️
NOW that’s the real country music should sound like 👍Not this other so called Country Music: Simply Outstanding 👌👌👌
For all that’s great could you please get these great souls back together and record this for a single and then follow up with an album. This is perfection and what we need everyday of our lives.
Mo is great. But I've just gotton to really appreciate John Meyer. I wish there were more videos of him.
This song is kinda the opposite of my life thus far. Was born and raised in Charlottesville and now I make my home in a sorta of a holler on the slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
they should be on the nashville stage making every one happy
Best cover of this song since Crowe's band. The banjo player is right on the mark! A J.D. deciple for sure. And Mo certainly has the vocals for bluegrass. Best since Tony Rice.
I love how the guitar player on the left raises the note on the word "plow" at 1:06! Superb!
That song has one of my favorite harmony progressions. I jam with a guy who does that song. Love singing harmony with him.
that young man can change it up at any time ,,hes great
@@brookshughey4060 its the B7 chord that makes this song magic.
And he goes up on his toes when he sings that note! Love it.
Guys I got to listen to these songs everyday ,it gets me going ,I love it ,I'm a big fan
Now that's real bluegrass and I loved every lick of it. Ya'll can come over to my house anytime and raise the barn!
This is just a great rendition of this song ... I had to rewind, grab my guitar and play along!
Good "old timey" music. May God keep and preserve the South.
Good at their music, nice clean cut young folks keeping the traditions and music going . . . too bad they didn't record this in a sound studio.
Mo is good with country and bluegrass.Love this bluegrass!
Unreal. Some of the best bluegrass I've heard in years. Well done.
Putting a hurting on that 5. That's was great.
I’ve seen this many times before, loved it every time! This time tho, it’s in the middle of a play list featuring Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley and a host of other bluegrass legends…these “youngins” are right at home in that august company…I know they are each out making their own individual music these days, but what a talented bunch, keeping the heart of bluegrass and traditional country alive for another generation!! 💜
I was born and raised on bluegrass. My dad and a few of his friends (who despite the huge age difference and lack of common interests outside of pickin' became my friends too) would pick until 2am on any given night. When I was 13 I picked up an electric bass and learned by ear. I taught myself by playing along to all of my Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Led zeppelin Albums and then all of my Dad's Bluegrass, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Jerry Reed records, 8-Tracks and tapes...then CD's as time and technology went on. Dad came back from a Bluegrass fest' that year with an Upright Bass for me and in no time at all, the four of us were a band. It was always fun being the "Kid in the black Iron Maiden T-shirt" whenever we played somewhere. My Dad recently passed away...I'm now 42 years old. I have his 1902 Gibson 5-string (converted from a 4 string) Banjo and a box full of old recordings of us jamming together. I miss the living room pickin' sessions like you showed here. It brought back so many memories for me. I'm glad that people are still keeping Bluegrass and family time alive like that. thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I enjoyed playing along and thinking of my dad and remembering when we played this same song. It was one of my favorites too.
This is amazing, never heard it done better than this! Mo, the Meyers, and Carson are just phenomenal! Perfect timing, harmony, and tenor bumps on "plow" just cap it off.
541,884 views on 5/30/21 .... that's pure gold, never tire of it, thanks ;-)
I have watched this over and over I wanna jump in play my 🎸 to with them
love this version....especially the "chop and stop" at around 1:13 , brilliant guys.
Exactly. Best version on YT
Me too…..heard this years ago at a festival in Myrtle beach with my dad……
20 or 30 years later I found this……
I've never smashed the LIKE button so hard.
Girl on the mandoline can keep tempo, that is the most important thing.
this video feeds my soul please dont ever take it down ever
I feel like the Meyers and Pitneys are the new country supergroupl Both families with deep musical backgrounds and many interchangeable parts for their sessions. And Mo and John are just magic together and seem to have a deep brotherly love for each other.
Still feel that way!
Excellent performance. Hope that these young kids make it. They certainly deserve it.
Looks like bluegrass music is in good hands for a long time.
Love the mandolin chop, well done
100 Thumbs Up. The Best Video ever!
You should stick with Bluegrass Mo Pitney. Bluegrass fans are the most loyal fans, ever. You and John sound great together! Looking forward to hearing more from you youngsters.
Mo should be a giant in Country Music...that system up yonder is rigged to the core. Great pickin ya'll
Michael Orem, you're right. Nashville doesn't appreciate real talent. He should stick with Bluegrass.
That is the truest thing I will read all year - and it's only June ;)
Would love to see Mo Pitney & 81 CROWE do something with BILLY STRINGS.. now that would be some jam....
Smashed that like button!!
I've been watching it this for years, always will .❤❤❤❤
This is absolutely the best version of this I wish there was more of them posted together. I love the 😅😂 natural
Amazing.
My 92 year old mother from Mississippi tells stories of her grandfather playing the mandolin when she was a little girl. Wish I could go back in time to hear him
I listen to this constantly
Best rendition of Old Home Place -- ever.
Absolute fire ! I feel the halahloooya !
Amazing quality for someone’s living room!
Best song the Dillard's ever wrote! Beautiful job. Best version I've heard.
Ricky skaggs live from Charleston SC is the best ever
@@donaldscearce5687 Agreed. The standard I think everyone shoots for these days!
Sure hit the spot, for me, tonight !
this IS awesome.
That's a goodun right there
On my 6th time in a row watching. I’ll let y’all know when I stop.
Yup, still watching..
Mary Meyer can play that mandolin !!
Awesome dude! You should just post the whole jam session! :D
Excellent playing there fellas and gal.
This put a smile on my face
Mosh-pit worthy bluegrass. Great stuff
More bluegrass magic from the Pitneys and Meyers clans. Cool!
One of the best covers of this great Dillard's song. :-)
They nailed it

Thanks y'all i love it bring it on
This is the road to go Mo
Still listening in 2022 and still luvin' it 😊
Love this song, Dillard’s made great songs. I live in the same town they were formed Salem, Missouri
That's some might fine pickin'! The Dillards would be real happy with what you've done with this one.
I’m ashamed to say this, as long as I’ve been in this business both in Nashville and elsewhere, I never knew about Mo!!!! Holy crap what a talented man. Real talent, not manufactured. I now officially a fan. Mo, lets pick sometime brother! You’re awesome. And a great writer to boot.
Mo who are you referring to ???
Some of the best bluegrass music I ever heard. Reminds me of my family years ago at home as a young girl family jamming
Very nice job!
Mo is great. Waiting to hear a cover of the great country hits. Incidentally the rhythm guitar player is a great 5 stringer.
Outstanding !!!!! John wow 👍
All of its untouchable. The harmony is as good as it gets... Wicked awesome!
What fun! Just the way music ought to made!
Indianapolis Indiana here I love this I play guitar 🎸 to be fun to be there playing along with all of ya all acustic
I can’t stop playing!!
Well done guys and gal.
Just the right sound!
Sweet Jesus. Stellar job.
I haven't heard this song since the Dillards did it. Thank you so much! You did them justice.
Oh, and that is awesome man! 😎👍
Superb!
One of my top 10 favorite Bluegrass songs. Well done guys (and gal). Loved it!
I thought that was “JD” on the “5” he was exactly on! The group is also very good!
Every time I watch this I always smile when I see the girl make her face after the first chorus.
Never get tired of it
I like that these guys are having fun with the "G to B7 chop" lead in to the instrumental break at about 1:12 after the Chorus. Most likely Ricky Skaggs on the "JD Crowe and the New South" recording invented it. The Dillards wrote and recorded this song in the 60s and Dean Webb their mando player did not do it. .
"Old Home Place" has been one of the most played tunes in bluegrass jams over the years yet I've never heard anyone include this G to B7 chop. Admittedly, I never noticed it until these guys did it with emphasis.
Man, this great. Everytime i crave great bluegrass i come back to this video.
