- Abby Roach has not had an easy life. She came from a wealthy Wichita home, but she found herself pregnant by her high school Junior year. That set off a series of events that would define her life. One of those events was riding the rails (it's against the law) but that took her to the east coast where someone showed her how to play the 'spoons'. She was a natural.

It most certainly is great because we get to see thousands of truly talented people we would otherwise never know of. Abby is great and I'm thankful she seems to be doing well now.

I'm 65 and have no teeth and really don't care. I have teeth but don't wear them they suck can't eat rt can't taste anything so I choose no teeth 4 me
Having no teeth ages you by decades and looks awful, but if you are happy in your own skin that's all that should matter. I personally am 47 and wouldn't be caught dead without my teeth in public, because I go from looking 40 to looking 70. But that's just me. I don't wear them at home when I'm alone because they're awful and don't stay in, can't eat with them, can't eat without them, but I can't afford the $60,000 for implants. That's outrageous. Who can afford that??

Having no teeth can cause health problems down the road. But to each their own. Taking care of mine as best I can. I’m 58 and still have them all. For now. Lol

What a wonderful lady. I've been following her for some time. Watching/listening to her makes my heart smile during a rough transition in my own life. Clean and sober over 30 years, just lost one of my children to drugs. So I get on here and soothe myself with Abby, her videos, her story, her music. She's my star. Maybe some day I'll be blessed to meet her.

been watching your videos for at least 7 years. you're closing words really kind of took me back and left me speechless. because in a few sentences you described American culture in a way that I've never heard it describe before Nothing is free you givde you get... the whole idea of exchanging...the walking in on somebody's chapter....Not being described by your image...Looking on the inside...a vision through class/culture issues....its really the best of America....I am laughing because I'm sitting here in Savannah Georgia where I retired 20 years ago... i'm sending this out to my friends (the gen-elderly) now to brighten up their day! thanks Ms Roach

I stumbled on Abby's videos several years ago and was so intrigued that I googled her back story and was surprised that she had come from Wichita where I've lived for 45 years and that she was now residing in Winfield, where I had also lived for a couple of years. I found her talent, story and experiences fascinating. It may be time for Paula Deen to send her a new set of spoons :). Thanks Larry for all the interesting stories all these years, and I still enjoy the re-runs on PBS.

When staying overnight at Grandpa's (a true Irishman), when I was a young girl, he used to tell me stories of hobos jumping trains, getting off once they're where they're headed. While spending the night, a train would be going through not far from the house. I used to LOVE the sound of it and think about the hobos, where they are headed and what their life is like. The trains would go through during the day but I loved that night train. For years on Halloween, I always dressed as I pictured the hobos. My dirty face done with charcoal (?), a pack on the end of a stick, overalls and flannel shirt. (still love flannels). To this day I love to hear a train and still think of the "travelers". I have a special place in my heart for transients, people without a roof over their head, down on their luck, and like to help if I can. But another side of me sees that as true freedom. Nobody in this world is "better" than anyone else. Someone may know more about cars, know more about horses, be better in math, better in science, have prettier hair, whatever, but don't ever think you're better than anyone else. Thanks Abby for just being real, true to yourself. And cool and entertaining!! And pretty!

I live in the Asheville area and I can remember her many years ago just sitting alone on a corner. She had a few listerners then, but you could tell she was really gifted playing the spoons. I've only known one other guy who's damn good in Hendersonville NC named Jesse Norton!!😊

My brother found me after 40+ years. He has spent the majority of that time being a "hobo" and riding the rails. I am glad that "hobo " still exists; they gave him a family when he wasn't able to be with the one, he was born into. Thank you.
I went to see her perform. Met her afterwords and got a picture with her. She's a great entertainer. I got the feeling she's actually kind of shy face to face. Still, shes so very interesting.
