All I can hope for is that it can strike a balance between the mysterious fog aesthetic from the PS2 original and the happy go lucky vibe of Golden while also doing its own thing like Reload, if that makes sense.

I recently dreamt of a persona 4 remake opening, it showed inaba from the distance and the camera zoomed in the towns middle with narukami putting his glasses on with a super modern and cool style, i hope we can get this remake in a near future.

In My Opinion, Rewind Is Better
I barely finished P4, but enjoyed every moment amongst the characters and to me I didn’t feel a dull moment or pacing issue. When I played P3R recently with a guide, it was torture for me…didn’t play the OG and the story went absolutely nowhere for months, didn’t finish it or get to the big moment people talk about
Same reload it was fine but I was just board so quickly for P4G I had a good time and really enjoyed it almost as much as P5R. I want to like reload it was just I felt like there was not enough there to keep going.
One little thing i hope Yu's parents actually acknowledge him and send him messages i know Ren and makoto's parents have their reasons, but Yu's no excuse
That's honestly a really good point especially since they'd probably be somewhat aware of the murders from inaba since I assume they atleast as Dojima about him
@@07Remy I don't think they would be. If I recall correctly, they're working abroad and I think the murders started just slightly after Yu left for Inaba. And I sort of doubt a murder in a small town would be covered in another country.
Also in the og Persona 4 anime implied that Yu was neglected to such a degree that he's practically taking care of himself since Nanako age

As someone who believes we need more trans and gay representation, I agree that Naoto and Kanji's stories don't need changing at all. The only thing that needs changing is the portrayal of gender affirming surgery being forced on cis people, as it's a damaging portrayal that borderlines transphobia, even if it's unintentional. Other than that, they just need to tone down, or even remove Yosuke's homophobia towards Kanji, and that's all that really needs to be fixed.
Agreed, but I feel Yosuke's homophobia shouldn't be removed if they re-add the feature of Yosuke being actually romanceable during testing. It would add some more depth to his character showing his internalized homophobia
I'm so happy almost everyone seems to agree on P4R being Rewind, a lot of other names people suggested sound so cool too though, it's so hard to choose just one.

The case with Persona 4 is not that it NEEDS a remake, but rather that it DESERVES it. Persona 4 Golden is much more digestible for new fans than the FES and Portable versions of Persona 3 were, but now that Persona 3 has its modern, revamped version along the lines of Persona 5, it would be unfair for Persona 4 to remain just the old version on the PS2 engine.

15:29 Nice vid! Rewind is a pretty good name (along with what others have suggested), and I pretty much agree with you on all accounts. I think the thing I noticed the most playing through P3R and P5R and thinking back to P4G definitely was the dungeons and how they can be improved.
I played a bit of P3P a year before P3R was announced and when I finally got to play P3R, the dungeon crawling was a LOT better. I don’t doubt Atlus’ ability to improve it though (seeing from what we got in P3R), so I’m not too worried. And story-wise, I’m good with their changes so far. It seems the biggest controversy (if we look at what they did with P3 to P3R) would be changing voice actors and remixing music. And while I really love the new music and VAs… if that’s the biggest issue… we may be looking at another fantastic Persona entry from Atlus.
Despite me despising Yosuke, I think there are two actors I want to see voice him. Either Aleks Le, who also replaced the other Yuri Lowenthal characters from 3, or Michael Kovach, who has voiced characters who share traits like N and Jax.
i feel like you explained why P4 is peak when you talked about the motives are way the P5 villains are portrayed. The theme of acceptance for each character who ends up joining the investigation team vs. the ideology of Adachi is the perfect Yin Yang that makes each character in the game enjoyable. I like the characters of P3 and P5 but my favorite will (probably) always be P4 because of the closeness I feel for them as I've seen the person they were afraid to accept and it made their social links and development as people feel more rewarding than it did for the party members in P3 and P5

As someone who just finished P4G for the first time and currently addicted to it on my 2nd playthrough, yes, please give it the Reload treatment. Oh and they better keep the “boneless omelette” moment. Idk why I found that the funniest freaking thing but Kanji became the mvp for me with that one.

Persona 4 is the best the voice cast was top tier, great sound track, this persona game felt like a real group of friends more than the other games imo, adachi was arguable the most recognizable villain in the whole series this deserves a remake before the og cast becomes old and retires or die tomorrow is never promised the other games can take a back seat and have a brand new voice cast it makes more sense this way so the old games can have their own series of spin offs like the others
I think the best name for a remake of P4 is Persona 4 RETUNE, since the main topic is TVs and you get the impression that you can re-tune to this game, like Persona 3 Reload where the word Reload is the reloading of a gun and can also be referred to reloading a game that was already released years ago.
I've actually got a name for a potential remake that no one's thought of before: Persona 4 Liquid Crystal, like an LCD TV. It fits the TV themes, and it references my single favorite JJBA part: Diamond Is Unbreakable.
Persona 4 Rewind has a nice ring to it in terms of title and ties into the TV-related themes of the game.

If we get a Persona 4 remake within the next few years, I hope that Ryotaro Dojima is voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda.
I know his voice isn't similar to that of Unsho Ishizuka (R.I.P.) but I believe it'd work.
My wishlist for Persona 4 Rerun:
- Speed up the introductory part so that you get to actually fight and explore the first dungeon earlier than 2 hours into the game. Even if it's just 1 hour in, that would be much better for pacing, I think.
- Let you do Naoto's social link before she has to be rescued from the TV world. I'm okay with needing a maxed out Knowledge stat, though not Courage as well. Her Social Link plotline is disconnected from her main plotline anyways so being able to advance it up to like 4 levels max before having to rescue her would help with not having enough time to boost her Social Link before endgame.
- seriously work on some of the tone-deaf scenes especially regarding Kanji's treatment by Yosuke and the gay paranoia elements. I don't want any kinda 'woke' apologism, just for them to not be as tasteless in their humor.
- Spoilers for endgame, but Nanako's death fakeout is cheap and makes no sense, it'd be better if it happens only after you throw the culprit into the TV and not before.
- Add the P5 chat function but just with SMS messages. That alone can help cut down on needless post-school cutscenes for 'hey I wanna see you today' Links.
- Redesign the dungeons so that they are at least a bit more interesting. I don't expect them to be as big and unique as P5 Palaces, but also not just randomly generated dungeons that sometimes have specific gimmick layouts. Or add new mechanics for interaction in the dungeons like what they did for Mementos. A special currency that you can only gain and spend in the TV world, and it all dissapears if you exit it? Or maybe additional reasons for exploring old dungeons, aside from new minibosses? Something

They should probably lighten up on Yosuke's comments, lol. But I hope they don't remove it completely. I think Persona 4 has the only cast of teenagers who actually act like teenagers, and this immature side of Yosuke gave more realism to the character, in a way. Atlus generally knows how to approach these types of topics responsibly, so I believe they will know what to change, remove or keep.
Remake 1 and 2 before 4, 4 is already a beloved game and still holds up. 1 and 2 need some legitimate work.

I had to emulate Persona 2 on my pc in some legally dubious ways. Those games are criminally slept on solely because nobody plays them bc they have been ignored for the last 20 years.
One thing that I saw more of in persona 4 than any of the other ones is the awesome cast of characters just are more fun in persona 4 not saying the other games cast are bad I just personally think the p4 cast is more fun

Renowned Atlus leaker Midrori said that P1, P2, P4 will be getting remakes; considering the fact that her leak about SMT 5 getting a rerelease were right, I'm willing to bet the remakes will happen after P6.
I finished Persona 4 today, and even thought i had Marie's social link maxed out I didn't get the true ending because I went straight home after talking to all my friends. And my Last save was in January. So i hope if there is a remake I hope they don't make it so that you miss the real ending because you didn't talk to the guy at gas station
So last year it was my first experience with Persona 4, with the Golden release on Switch and I loved it, its my favorite game of last year, I truly impacted me and I can't wait to start New Game Plus at some point. It would be cool to have a remake down the line, 3 or 4 years from now. I had a lot of praise for the game but also some critiques, my biggest one was the dungeons, they really need an overhaul, grinding becomes tiresome and most bosses are truly OP and unfair in Normal difficulty, so I would hope they make changes to that, other systems that need to expand are the "making lunch for friends" that I thought it was very meh, I had to look up online everytime I did them and I hope they rework that, have a deadline to finish a dungeon like in Persona 5 would be great, instead of relying on watching the forecast, that sometimes are weird to understand and some other things I don't remember right now, overall AWESOME game, a geenuinely unforgettable experience, I love it a lot despite the minor flaws.
I actually liked that Persona 4’s story felt much smaller in scale than 3 or 5. It really felt like you were just a group of kids in a small town trying to solve a murder mystery. They didn’t have the backing of the Kirijo Group or the crazy fame of the Phantom Thieves. Solving the case with no real help or recognition was fun for me. It was a nice change of pace imo. It wouldn’t work for every game in the series, but it was a fun way to mix things up. I’d love to hear what others think!
Wouldn’t be mad if they changed how to encounter the Reaper, though. That took way too long, even if you knew how to cheese it haha. 😂🤷🏻♂️

I totally agree with the Naoto and Kanji point. However, the one thing I really want Atlus to change is Yosuke. One of the things that aged badly about persona 4 is the "humour" that he often uses (don't remind me of the infamous Kanji scene). This could have been aliviated in the original game if they kept the plan to make him a romanceable option, explaining that the way he acts is more of a projection of how he feels about himself, given the blatant homophobia he often displays; but since they scrapped it in the end, he justs comes across as intolerant (which is incredibly ironic considering what is the message of p4). That is one thing I think they are going to change, since they changed the transphobic scene in p3reload and literally stated in game that Ryoji is in love with the male protagonist. Having the MC in a gay relationship could be something very benefitial to explore the struggles of the lgbt community in (rural) Japan and tbh, at this point in time Atlus can do it without any fear since they have the reputation to get away with it (assuming they are afraid of the backlash of certain part of the gaming community)
If that's the case I hope they won't cut out the Jun 'romance' from P2, since that's pretty much the only time a MC can have a gay relationship.
@deepflare1028 I think they should re add the Yosuke romance option since Yosuke is clearly bi but also he was originally written to be bi so unlike kanji or Naoto I don't think it was effect his overall character as much if they were to make him bi

Then that has nothing to do with the plot personally Persona 2 has one of the best stories in the entire series and genuinely feels higher quality than both 3 and 5 it's just looked down apon because it's old and most people haven't even played it (not saying that you havent)
I agree about Naoto, but you don't stop being a man just because you're gay. Kanji being gay I think would just improve his message because there are still a large number of people that think that a guy that like guys is not a guy, so he being one of those plus liking feminine things would improve his story arc imensily. Plus we need some good, explicity lgbt representations in a serie about teenage lives e.e this could help a lot of people.
I mean I agree with you it would be sick to get a Persona 4 Remake but I'm not missing it you know. Persona 4 Golden is so engaging of a game as it is and it's on everything already so it doesn't start the same discussion as Persona 3 would before where you basically had to decide whether to play FES or Portable. I was lucky and played FES on the PS3 when I happened to stumble upon it but I could have easily played Portable instead and probably got a worse first impression if that was the only version I knew but something felt personal about these games. There aren't any glaring issues in Persona 4 even. But you know they'll do it eventually buddy, it's Atlus we're talking about. Persona 4 was their first real jackpot in the business I think. In a few years it'll probably look even better than P5 and P3R
Actually one thing I could do without in Persona 4 is the battle themes only having the one verse but that's as far as the game needs improving really, in my opinion. Which I probably can fix with a mod anyway
Am I alone in thinking that the p4 remake while enviable due to it being free money should be put to the way side to give the older games some time to shine? They have been neglected for so long, and with the persona 2, duolgy tying with persona 3 in that remake pole at least give it something more than just a remaster.
I do think 1 and 2 deserve remakes but it's also thr fact I'm not sure Atlus can please all fans with a 1 and 2 remake since they're so different but also because I'd much rather a remaster of 1 and 2 with full voices and cutscenes and updated sprites rather from a Reload type remake

Tbh I doubt Atlus'll change Naoto or Kanji. For God's sake they kept the Evokers in P3R and that's easily worse than anything in 4. At worst I can see them tweaking the dialogue to be more clear with their intentions. Shouldn't really be necessary but if the reception to Akechi has taught me anything, Persona fans can really struggle looking beyond surface level sometimes

I think one thing that would make a peak p4 remake is actually bringing back the old english/japanese voice cast in my opinion. Those voice actors were in there BAG in p4. That's what made persona 4 have the best characters also. Plus it would make sense to have Adachi and Yu have the same voice actor since they are two sides of the same coin. Johnny Yong Bosch is just unreplaceable for that role in my opinion

Entirely agree on Kanji and Naoto - I don't think they need to change at all. I do think their stories could be more impactful, and have fewer bad implications for LGBT people, if the game included other LGBT representation that was a more solid part of the character's identity. Flesh out the unfinished Youske romance option, for instance.

Great video man, I agreed and disagreed with various points. Though I do see room for improvement. It would help a lot if you made a script, you spoke really fast and sttutered a lot in the video, also repeated various points so much they became redundant. I liked your ideas, but you could really improve upon how to express them
This video was actually scripted but I often read far too fast and poorly of my own script and add words to fill the spaces 😭 it's a really bad habit of mine which I'm trying to improve!

I really liked the Persona 3 remake. Loved it even. Having never played the original. But fuck me if the plot is boring as hell. It takes ages to get going. I think it's well over 10 hours of gameplay before any sort of villain is introduced and their not very present thereafter. And as much as I really like the party members they're extremely passive. As in they don't move the story along the story happens to them. They lack any sort of initiative. Most of the game is them waiting for something to happen while grinding levels and increasing confidant levels. A handful of in game months pass when finally an antagonist introduces itself followed by more waiting. Aside from that the game is glorious.
8:25 Because the police force in Japan and most countries are male oriented job and the cool detectives from literature are mainly male, that's why she has that androgynous look, isn't the same reason as Kanji, that is struggling to get what makes him 🥰, we know he digs Naoto, finds Chie cute and has obsession with Yukiko and hotsprings and doesn't find Rise attractive.

I agree with most of your takes but adding arena/Ultimax as dlc would be a terrible idea, arena Ultimax is already on modern consoles and turning a fighting game into a turn based rpg would be hard to do, especially with the online battles and all the arena modes

Honestly? I think some of the only things that’d be worth changing in a p4 remake would be to tone down some of the sexual humor.
Some of the scenes like yosuke in the camping scene and teddies constant borderline sexual harassment would probably be taken very poorly as a modern release
I’m not saying to change the characters completely but it would probably need to be clearer that teddie doenst fully understand the context of what he’s saying (something which is more obvious in japanese) or that yosukes toxic masculinity/homophobia is partially internalised (which I imagine would’ve been addressed in his originally planned romance option)
Gameplay wise I just feel they need to rebalance some of the parties skill abilities (cause no offence to yosuke but his overall abilities are awful compared to the others) and give a option to dress up rise in dif outfits during her aoa cause I always find it out of place when she’s just in her uniform when everyone else is in silly outfits

You can still have yosuke be “homophobic” and not make him basically ask if kanji would sexually assault him like he does in the camping scene (even when I played the game in 2012 I found that scene uncomfortable)
Changing that to him making some panic question on if he or yu are his type and kanji then getting mad and leaving woukd accomplish the same thing narratively without being as egregious as the original scene

Persona 4 will surely get a remake, but it's still kinda unnecessary for now. Persona 4 may be coming from PS 2 too just like Persona 3, but they still had Persona 4 Golden which came from the newer console PS Vita and it still holds up even today, while Persona 3 doesn't have it's own definitive edition. Personally i would like to see ATLUS remaking Persona 2 first

even tho I myself i don't see it needs one, the only things I can see them do is use the p5 engine like reload, add in the baton pass, maybe change the dungeons which unlike 3 is more possible as they are more like palaces with how it's separated then something like mementos which tartarus is where it's a one big 255 floor dungeon (which reload didn't change much with it and they probably couldn't due to the story and it would pad out the game far more into a drag) and add little extra stuff compared to 3 there is less stuff you can really change. it is leaked by midori a long with 1 and 2 but all I hope is 1 and 2 get the treatment first not 4 especially 1 as 2 expects you to know things from 1 namely certain characters that appear in both

I am all for a remake as long as they keep the characters true to their original appearances. Especially Naoto with her issues. I don't want them to just slap a modern "politically correct" agenda here and ruin her development. Or make Kanji just gay. Like you said, it is part of his character to learn that you can like diffferent things and that doesnt mean you stop being a man.
That said. You know what would be better? Persona 6. Time for a new chapter. I still have hopes they give us a proper adult story cause Soul Hackers 2 messed up...

Why can't we get exactly what we got with Reload, the issues I have with Reload is they made it to easy, the removal or certain quests ans choices, and the change in tone with all the new bells and whistles. But that will work well with P4. Now adding more interactions with the friends, or expanding the story so we can spend more time with our friends, and don't make the game easy please!

Also, I know everyone wants “Rewind” to be the title but I think “Reshoot” fits the theme and remake quality better.
I think the Chibi Art style is a given when making a remake although I think a femc could be cool I doubt ATLUS would add her sadly since they didnt include it in Reload
Persona 3 FES didn't hold up as well as Persona 4 Golden.
3 also didn't have a definitive way to play, versus P4 which does, Golden.
Portal took out alot of stuff from fes.
Which is why P3 needed a remake and why P4 doesnt need a remake

Would rather Atlus focus on making a remake for P1, and the P2 Duology since they are way harder to get/play and also desperately need remakes more than P4, which still holds up
I highly disagree while sure P1 and 2 need remakes but it would be extremely strange for Persona 4 to be the only modern game without modern visuals further more Persona 4 is debatablely equally as popular as 3 and even more so you could say Persona 4 is basically the reason why we have Persona on all consoles due to the success on steam and with Persna 1 and 2 there's so much to change and improve that it would take a lot to make a remake that would appeal to new and old fans at same
@@07Remy If memory serves I think it was thanks to Arena and Arena Ultimax that helped Persona break from the SMT name and become it's own thing.
4 doesn't need a remake because it holds up on it's own and the only thing that would change is visuals, which honestly doesn't matter because, again, it holds up even all these years later.
The reason why 3 got a remake is because FES isn't on all platforms/easy to play and had many "issues" that needed to be fixed (namely controlling your party and selecting the skills for your Persona's)
There was already plenty of changes with P3, I don't doubt Atlus would put love and attention into the remakes of those three.
Tl:DR 4 holds up, and it getting a remake is unnecessary. 3 got a remake cause it had some issues to it, while 4 doesn't.

@@PStylesWorldwide Yes they throw in and repeat but I never said the aspect of the characters expressing and accepting there dark sides were boring I said the restiveness is what ruins it and even brough up for example each awakening is the same process for each character if they added more uniqueness to each awakening it would help make it so much more interesting and as for the overworld plot its not very interesting nothing happens on the overworld besides bodies showing up and when they do they get brushed off very quickly there's so much more they could to make the plot more engaging both P3 n 5 both have so much more going on than each characters eternal struggles which makes the games so much more engaging
Isn't Golden the original remake
Persona 4 Golden is like Royal its just the original game with added story and some slight improvements but overall its basically no different to the orginal ps2 version
I think the best name for a remake of P4 is Persona 4 RETUNE, since the main topic is TVs and you get the impression that you can re-tune to this game, like Persona 3 Reload where the word Reload is the reloading of a gun and can also be referred to reloading a game that was already released years ago.
