I DONT want a persona 4 remake, the only reason why i'm making this video to say what I would like if they were to do it, but i could live without one ever being made. 1.5: I'm open to seeing your opinions, but if you're opinion is just blatantly homophobic, then maybe it's not the best to share it. 2. I hate that Minecraft video with a burning passion. Every time I get on and see a new comment, I get really excited until I see that it's the 548th 12 year old commenting how I mined dirt with a pickaxe. Yes the mic sounds bad on it, yes I sound like a Nexpo knock off; I get it. 3. I suck as spelling so somethings like "Still" and "The Genesis" is mispelled. 4. I love Persona 4, and the other Persona games, I might do another video talking about these games because I had a lot of fun making and writing this video. Yes my humor in them is like a tumor but I just had a blast working on it. I wouldn't mind doing more game focused videos like this in the future. (refer to 1:14 and 15:55) 5. @@JavaFelix Another change I would make is the part where Adachi catches one of Rise's stalkers and lies about him being the killer. It was fixed in the anime, but it was so annoying that the Investigation Team assumed that he was the killer.
Funny thing: two (maybe more) voices were changed between base game and Golden. Chie and Teddy were changed from original to Erin Fitzgerald and Sam Riegel respectively while others remained unchanged.
I'm fine if they change some of them, but Yu, Kanji, Yosuke, Teddie, and Chie 100% need to have the same VA, as well a lot of the main side characters as well (i.e. mainly Dojima, Adachi, and Nanako).
I think one thing I disagree with in this video is the Adachi fight. I feel like having the protagonist + his friends take down Adachi is a really simple, really effective way to show the whole friendship and bonds thing that serves as the difference between the protagonist and Adachi.
Maybe they could do a reverse Shido scenario. Start the fight as a solo Yu vs. Adachi, and after a bit, the party members you were using beforehand run in.
@@ruthmcnally310 I think it would be cool to do what the anime did. Have Yu's friends fighting the reaper (have it be the canonical fight for the reaper, you can always fight himself later), while Yu fights Adachi. Maybe do what you did and his Party members come in.
No changes to the dungeons?? I think that's most excepted change I'd like see. I feel like persona 4's dungeons can be changed into a persona 5 style like palaces where it's more interactive.
Personally, i never had an issue with the dungeons. Yea they got kinda annoying sometimes, especially Marie's but nothing really to write home about. If i would've thought more at the time, there's a lot more i've could've talked about, but this stuff was mainly the things to come first to mind. Apologies.
@@JavaFelix Completely understandable. I feel like the Persona 4 dungeons are like Persona 5 palaces not like Mementos or Tartarus in a sense so it would be cool to see them revamped to match each Person's personality like in 5 (Sae is casino and getting key cards, Shido for getting notes ect)
@@Random-Guy-123 the thing is that the palaces in Persona 5 are probably a natural evolution to the character specific dungeons found in persona 4. and it would really mesh well if they made it non procedural. Unfortunately, I don't think they have the time to make it as specialized, and its honestly pretty sad since the dungeons and battles were the only weak points of the game.
Im a bit on the fence with this one, p5 objectively has better and more thoughtfully designed dungeons. However when it comes to replayability I STRONGLY dislike going back through, it feels very "on rails" during subsequent playthroughs and having to redo the puzzles and skip so much dialogue gets tedious. P4 I can just blast through dungeons and focus on things I enjoy
regarding the solo adachi fight you mentioned. i mean, persona 5 royal already did it with shido. you fight shido through a couple phases and then the end of the fight is a one-on-one. and iirc most people thought it was hype as hell
There was another comment that made me second guess it. In the anime, Yu has the fear of being alone, and I'm assuming that would go for in game Yu as well. I would like to see Yu and Adachi face off alone while his friend's defend him from other attacks, which would represent friendship in a way of "even if you're far away, friends can still have an impact on you." While if they're with you during the Adachi fight, it's a more direct way of saying that.
I think it's already been confirmed a P4 remake is being heavily considered and we'll probably see one sooner rather then later. Either way I'll take anything that makes Marie a more important character I wanna see her as a party member in the final dungeon
I wouldn't want her as a Party member imo, but i would love to see her play a bigger part in the story (kinda like what they had intended but didn't do well)

And having her join you in the fight against Izanami and the Margaret super boss would be pretty hype. As somebody who watched Persona 4 the Animation (not Golden, the ORIGINAL Persona 4 Anime), I think there's one more thing you could add Story-Wise. Spoiler Warning for the Anime, obviously So basically, if I remember correctly, there's a scene just before the Izanami Boss Fight where Yu actually has to fight Margaret, before it's revealed that he's essentially facing his own Shadow. I think that, overall, I do want to see it added into a potential remake. There's a surprising amount of stuff you can take from the anime and add into a remake of Persona 4.
I think Persona 4 in particular would benefit from actual dungeons instead of the randomly generated layouts. Yukiko’s Castle and Naoto’s Lab are 2 of the ones that come to mind that would be so much better had it been fully realized. It would go along with the theme of the Investigation Team trying to solve a mystery and it would be an inverse of Persona 5s. Instead of learning about P5’s antagonists past, we get bits and pieces from our future party members. In my opinion, I find P4s dungeons to be the worse in the Hashino trilogy. There’s less floors yeah, but they’re so long and drag out.
8:26 I think they could pull a shido during Adachi’s fight. First phase will be like the original, once you reach a certain amount hp, we can seem him calling in the reaper due to his connection with the camera eye boss(forgot his name) and the party leaves to go handle it. Then it continues with just you and adachi. Adachi will gloat saying now that he has taken your friends away, there is no hope in beating him. What do you think
About the UI, I've been having an image of a menu like P3, where Makoto is floating in the water but with Yu facing upwards with maybe like beams of sunlight and a VCR filter
I disagree with the boss themes for the characters' shadows. I'll Face Myself is a really good boss theme and the leitmotifs present in it (Backside of the TV, Signs of Love, the other I'll Face Myself) imo make it a beautifully sad boss theme for all the party members. Maybe having each fight be a different arrangement of I'll Face Myself would work but it's the one thing i personally would keep as is
I wanna see theurgies in 4's remake. I absolutely love Chie and I want to see her go nuts. All her "woo chas!" and karate sounds and stuff. I agree with keeping the voice cast from Golden (although technically it actually had some recasts itself).
While not confirmed, a big possibility for why the P3R cast changed is likely due to the controversy behind Junpei's OG VA, Vic Mingionia. He was accused of SA by Monica Rial, and has been blacklisted by the VA community. Fans are split down the middle between him being guilty or innocent, so it's entirely possible that they changed the entire cast so as to not enrage Vic's fans for him being the only person not to reprise their role. Though, if you notice, he's the only one of the original cast who doesn't have any side character roles. Minato and Pharos's VA playing Yukari's dad, Yukari's VA playing the antique shop owner and one of Mitsuru's maids; Fuuka and Ken's P4A and PQ VA's playing the mother and son from Ken's link episodes; Akihiko's VA playing Kurosawa; Shinjiro's VA playing Mitsuru's dad; Mitsuru's VA reprising her role as Elizabeth; and Aigis' VA playing the old lady from her social link, and the art teacher.

If there is one thing I would change about P4, it's how the Second Awakenings work. Because they are tied to completing your party members social links, and social links, while heavily encouraged by the game are technically optional, it makes their SL character and their Story character feel dissonant from one another. I think how P3 handled second awakenings, with them being tied to personal growth within the story, was the better way to do it. A way both of these ideas can be implemented is by having their Second Awakenings tied to story progress, but rewarding the player for completing their social link before the awakening with new skills representing the bond you share with them. It would be a way of following through on one of the lines the original P4 opening had ("We're all trapped in a maze of relationships that goes on, with or without you"), that people will inevitably grow and change as time slowly marches on. Whether or not you want to be a part of that person's growth is ultimately up to you.
the kubo rant was so valid, i hated that boss so much too dude 😭 the overall boss and dungeon also felt so forced in my opinion. Idk just for me i clearly knew he wasn’t the killer and the morbid side of me kept saying: if he is the killer then just leave him, why save him and try this negotiation that clearly isn’t working cause the guy is like completely pretentious and unwilling to listen? I totally agree though i liked the idea of the dungeon with the old RPG style, but the overall build up, boss and lore was just heinous.
I do agree with them for not leaving him there, as that would COMPLETELY contradict the true ending with not throwing Namatame in. But yes, his boss fight was atrocious.
I disagree he is the only one who showed us what happens when you don’t accept yourself, the interactions with his shadow are so interesting if you look deep enough you’ll see that he has some depth to him just look hard enough and one of the reasons you thought he is not the killer is because its too early to reveal the true killer otherwise he fits the description hell he is a killer and fits to confuse the player.
Also his dungeon idea was pretty cool idk what more you want. Tho i understand why you’d think he is forced but he is not, he is important to the overall story.
Things that I would change/fix: Story/Characters- mostly the pacing at points or the dialogue from the characters (I’m looking at you Yosuke with Kanji at times, Teddie’s constant perving, and especially Dojima at points in the game 😑) Music- add a little more variations of the existing tracks but maybe add remixes or just more versions of the songs. Downtime/Social Links- change the fortunes to not take up free time, they did it just fine in 5, so just repeat it here. Have something to do durning rain, aside from either fishing/studying as it gets so boring so quickly. Just slightly change the pacing in some of the links here/there. Combat- speed it up as it can take a while for the animations to fully play out, have more enemies be susceptible to ailments, and bring shock and freeze back while bringing in burn, ailments for the most part are hit/miss. And also show a screen for the durations of the buffs/debuffs skills. As for their weapons that you can get from the night pub in exchange from gems found in the dungeons, either expand the catalog or have more items to trade for the gems, otherwise they just sit in your items until they’re being sold and often times the weapons are bad-mediocre, so more variety would be nice to see. Party members- give some slight stat buffs and add more strengths/weaknesses for more of a challenge, change some of their social link skills and bike skills as a way to have more unique gameplay experience and not repeat the same things over and over, maybe do something like the Traits in 5 Royal, but slightly different. As an example, Yosuke is a Jack of All Trades, his skills are mostly wind and some physical skills, with some healing and support skills. He learns an Almighty skill from his bike rides, but by the time you get it, its damage output is outclassed quickly. So have him learn more unique skills to either set ailments/debuffs or have more passive skills, like Evade Ice/Invigorate 3, etc. Just an example of course but we’d be here forever 😂😅 Dungeons- durning the exploring/boss fights, have a colored fog through out but not too obstructive, ex. Yukiko’s castle having a red fog, Kanji’s sauna having more of a clear steam but it’s yellowish, and so on. Add more unique floor layouts or change up the dungeon’s floors the higher/lower (depending if it’s going upstairs or downstairs) and have it cosmetics changed up. New game+- have weapons/accessories transfer over, especially the ones dropped from the Reaper (though those could be reworked to have better effects on the party members as well). As much as I do enjoy 4G, even I’ll admit it can get very repetitive at times and it’s so slow especially during new game+ runs, but aside from the nitpicks, I do enjoy the game and the characters 😊
Aside from the fact that i don't want a remake of p4 i'd say some of the things that they should change are: 1) the final plot twist is bad really really bad, they should try to add some scenes to make it more apparent without making it seem too obvious and secondly rework how the adachi sl works, i swear just because of that i figured out that he was the killer
I really like Adachi as a killer, but it's kinda obvious (and for the fact that I was spoiled). I wish they would have more mandatory scenes with him besides the ones after Namatame. It would make him seem more important and would help players develop a better connection to him so his turn would be more impactful.

@@cristianoducceschi3547I mean it makes sense that Adachi wouldn't be available to hang out while there's someone missing but more for the same reason Dojima isn't: He is supposed to be working to find them. Emphasis in "supposed to". The fact he uses his position as a cop as part of his cover is important, even if he's pretending to be a lazy slacker. Personally, I'd change the fact his SL locks itself after Rank 6 and becomes plot-based conveniently right after catching Namatame, which only raises red flags of why you get sudden Adachi Rank-Ups in the middle of a plot cutscene.
I'd only want a remake if they revamped the dungeons and made them more like the palaces in p5. It's a lot of work but it's the only part of the game that's lacking. Everything else about the game is just needs a new coat of paint.
I wish they gave more character to Yu, he shows up to Inaba without much background and there are few times where it feels that his character shines through and i wish i could’ve seen more of that, i also don’t like the feeling that everyone relies on Yu and that they don’t find their own truth and individuality
They really need to add Yu's arc from the anime into the game. Especially the part during Kubo's boss. Yu being scared of losing his friends and being alone would be great. I know the game is trying to keep the protagonist bland and stuff so you can "self-insert" yourself, but I feel like they should make a special case for Yu and make him his own character.

Interesting video. I agree with a lot of points, and disagree with others, but I do think a lot of your suggested implementations would make P4G better, ie. keep the voice casts and add Ying Yang to the Adachi fight because that song slaps. (Personal tangent: I still think Golden screwed up the True Ending, by leaving in achievements and Adachi's last Social Link Rank tied to it. The beauty of the True Ending was whether you took the game's themes to heart and questioned the "good" ending you got for beating Adachi, and asked if it was truly solved. If they just fixed that and made it more ihdden/you had to look for it yourself without being prompted, that would instantly make a remake of P4G far stronger).
I like that viewpoint, but I feel like it would go with what I said about having Yu and Adachi being the only ones in the Adachi battle. It would be very interesting for story, but wouldn't be a good gameplay point (subjective), especially for the people who will complain about it. I think making the true ending more hidden is actually a really good idea, maybe make more steps to find it, kinda like how you needed to talk to a bunch of people to get info on Namatame.

I would also add the baton system from 5, Also, I don’t think getting the cast together again is possible ,these video games studios really penny pinch when it comes to VAs, ever notice how the sequel games have new VAs, I would see them going the approach of 3 remake and have an entirely new cast.
Yea, i watched a video about the voice cast, well mentioned it and said how it was amazing how they had all of these famous VAs together since now a days it would be EXPENSIVE to get them all, though i would think it would be nice, though unlikely
Some of the changes that Persona 4 "Reboot" needs: 1. If they do recasts akin to Persona 3 Reload, keep Johnny as Yu, but give him voiced lines. Also, change his tone for Adachi a bit 2. Modify the Magatsu-Inaba boss fight, so it goes as follows: Phase 1: 1vs1 between Yu and Adachi Phase 2: Yu's companions VS Ameno Sagiri (Don't forget that for a while, Yu was captured by him. Also incorporate the second awakenings into this scene, akin to the anime version - then pull a "Satanael" with Yu briefly summoning Lucifer to defeat Adachi) 3. Make Marie and Adachi's SL's integral to the plot (And when you max out Adachi, you unlock the ultimate persona of both Jester and Hunger) 4. Modify the ending - Make it so if you choose not to take the romance route, there's a different news anchor to "Mariko", and you don't get the confession. Also, add a mention to Dancing All Night, like maybe a part where Rise mentions signing them up for auditions. 5. During the interrogation with Dojima, make it so that there's a way to convince him (Maybe if you've got high enough knowledge, or being given the option to stick your hand in the TV to demonstrate), but Nanako gets captured while Yu explains everything that happened afterwards. 6. Give a funnier reaction to "Be an ass and leave", instead of just a "See ya" from the others 7. Fully voiced Social Links, akin to P3R 8. Give comical responses when Hanako destroys Yosuke's motorcycle, ie. A: "Meh, C'est la vie" B. "Ouch... How much did THAT cost?" C. "What can be said? Mistakes happen" 9. Sneak the "Mystery Food X" over to someone else, instead of choosing whether or not to eat it (As a third option, I mean) 10. Add a "Classic Mode", which gives the aesthetic and mechanics of Persona 4 Golden 11. Add some references to upcoming events, i.e. Maybe a line from Naoto about the rumours of a successor to her title of "Detective Prince"? 12. More bosses, ie. Shadow Saki 13. Give the Gas Station attendant a different VA to Izanami (I think that was the biggest giveaway)
To be honest with you this game story is great on top of how the main crew feels like a genuine friend group. I love that but everything else about it is just eh for starters It’s just really old. Maybe it’s just me, but if they overhaul fusion dungeon, bosses, and add new mechanics this would it would make the game better. I’m definitely gameplay first before anything
All I really want in a P4G remake is that the dungeons feel more like TV Shows, like Yukiko's being like a gameshow (Almost like Takeshi's Castle) or like Naoto's being a science show where you create chemicals to beat certain shadows
If I were approached by Atlus about how I would "change" Persona 4 for a Remake, it would be to bring over Blazing Hell, Ice Age, Vacuum Wave, Wild Thunder, Kougaon + Makougaon and Eigaon + Maeigaon, Gigantomachia from Persona 5/ Persona 5 Royal. I'd also want to bring the mechanic of finding money in chests back from Persona 3. Ragnarok, Niflheim, Panta Rhei and Thunder Reign would also receive buffs so that they're better than Agidyne, Bufudyne, Garudyne and Ziodyne. For passive skills, I'd bring in Dark Amp + Boost, Light Amp + Boost and Almighty Amp + Boost. For Party Member Skill Sets, I'd have the following: 1. Yosuke with Panta Rhei and Debilitate (Replacing Dekaja). 2. Chie with Brave Blade. 3. Yukiko with Ragnarok. 4. Kanji with Thunder Reign and Gigantomachia. 5. Teddie with Niflheim, all the Auto-Ma Stat-Boosting skills, Heat Riser and Matarunda + Masukunda to go along with Marakunda. 6. Naoto with Dark, Light & Almighty Amps + Boosts, Eigaon + Maeigaon and Kougaon + Makougaon, as well as all the Passive Amp skills that were available in P4 already. 7. I wouldn't change anything about Rise, but I would give her Futaba's full-party Heat Riser ability. PS. I'd also change the Adachi fight so that he can use his full Move-Set from P4, as well as give him Diarahan so that the fight can continue for longer. I'd also take Thunder Reign from Thor and give it to Odin.
Now that you mention it, Naoto having all that stuff is kind of exaggerated (since the original). The investigation team has only 8 members compared to SEES (10) and The phantom thieves (+10). In order to cover every elemental magic, i'd add more members. If creating new characters is too hard, maybe Marie or even Adachi or Sho and Labrys will be ok. I'd also change Adachi's boss fight to make it longer. And/or adding a second phase where is only him vs Yu.
I thought this video was amazing and perfectly encapsulated all my feelings about a remake! I subbed and liked this video. Looking forward to more content in the future!
One thing I would change if getting information on the person in the TV, the parts where u have to go around town talking to people just to find out things you already know
Make Marie a character in TV world similar to the Fox, she can be used to teach your party members skills from skill cards (they wouldnt be able to learn every skill tho, only those they already learned and forgot and some that could compliment their skill sets)
Here's my wishlist: 1.Make Team-up attacks optional like P5R Showtime attacks. You could choose whether to use it or not and skip the animation if you like. Also make new team-ups with each party member. 2.Bring Reaper weapons to NG+ and change the Reaper appearance mechanic. 3.More playable events. I'd say something like White Day on P5R and whatever there might be in-game. Other than that no real changes to anything except maybe to combat and UI.
I like the concept of the accomplice ending, but i still feel like it doesn't feel realistic that Yu would do that. I understand why the MCs would do the other bad endings in the other games as well as why Yu would do the killing Namatame ending, but in the accomplice ending, by the time Adachi's asking him to burn the paper, I don't see why he would go along with it anymore since that should prove that Adachi isn't the person he thought he was
I like how the games flat out tells you basically that you're an asshole by leaving Adachi's number in your inventory in new game+. I feel like there are better ways to play with the accomplice ending, such as not skipping all the way to 3/20, and or building up to it once you settled on doing it.
I changes I would make are making Marie more integral to the story. Having her as a playable character as a bonus would be nice. Also I would like it if on New Game+, you could have all playable characters be available for combat at the beginning of the game. Kasumi was heavily featured in the marketing for Persona 5 Royal and you only get her as a playable character for the final optional dungeon. They did it in Persona 5 Strikers.
While I think a lot the concerns people had with Reload being "too much like P5" stylistically were way overblown, the small town, wholesomely goofy vibe of P4 is so integral to its identity imo that i would want to see a much more toned down version of what we got in P5 and P3R Like the investigation team enters the TV world in their unaltered school uniforms and spend the majority of the game wielding brooms, chairs, kicks etc. instead of actual weapons, it'd be really jarring if they're pulling off super flashy moves and having bad-ass all-out-attack screens. I still want to see fluid menus and animations, and i'd be down for flashy super moves (probably using the duo finishers already in Golden as a base) but they need to have a touch of goofiness that reminds you these are just kids getting way over their heads into a murder mystery. Basically i want stuff along the lines of Junpei's first Theurgy in P3R.
That's what I was really trying to go for with that comment. I don't hate P3R and P5R's style, but looking at Persona 4, i just know it wouldn't fit it. Thats another main reason why I like the cast more in P4 then P3. They feel like more realistic friends. SEES felt too artificial in a sense that everyone was kinda forced to be friends. Yes they ended up becoming friends in the end, but they wouldn't have otherwise. I guess the same could be said about P4, but idk they just have good chemistry. I think P5 has a good mix of both

Honestly most of the work would really be in creating new assets and just making P4 in P3R's engine. They don't really need to change most of the day to day life stuff and it would still be solid, maybe make Marie less shoehorned in I suppose. Realistically most of the changes would be combat and dungeon related, which is all I'd really want. One thing I liked about p3r was that unlike FES, the fights that were supposed to be hard were actually hard. But P4 has pretty decent difficulty scaling but shadow teddie for example is a massive spike that could be toned down. One thing I want to stay the same is Shihoko doing the music, since she's my favourite singer from the persona games. I don't care about if the English voice acting changing cause I play the Japanese versions but I do love Yuri Lowenthal. Overall I dont think P4 getting a remake is really needed, but if they did make it I'd 100% be on board, but if they dont want to I'm cool with that.
They would 100% keep Shihoko as the singer. The main reason why they replaced Yumi was because she has gotten to the point where she would barely sing anymore, while Shihoko still does persona concerts. I would like to also see more Lotus Juice in the music as well, though that could be subjective for a lot of people. I stand by the fact that I said in my video, that being Persona 4 should not be remade AT THE MOMENT. in like 5-10 years if Atlus has nothing better to do AND they finished a Persona 1 and 2 remake (remaster?) then they could maybe put some time into making the PERFECT Persona 4, using what they learned from remaking 3. About the voice cast, i REALLY recommend you play Persona 4 at least once in English, you will not be disappointed.

I did play P4 in English back in the day, it definitely was my favourite dub of the persona games, but since then I already learned Japanese so I hardly play JRPGs in English anymore, I did replay it in English once but I just like the og a bit more. I get what you mean about not wanting them to do a remake now, while a P1 and 2 remake would be cool it's definitely P4 that would make them serious money if they had to choose. I feel like for P1 and 2 we'd at most get a port to steam/consoles, (maybe finally both parts of P2 can be available in English on the same platform lol) since they're much smaller games than p3 there's not as much merit in remaking them other than some people wanting it but I'd prefer new games over more remakes, not that I would refuse to play them if they came, since I do love these games.
Persona 4 would make them TONS of money if they did a remake. Hell, if it was the ONE game keeping the PS Vita alive for so long then it has a lot of potential for a remake. As someone who has yet to play Persona 1 and 2 (and the other 2), i'm unsure of how many people DO want them, the only thing I know is that half the time people are shitting on how P1 looks. I think for the first phase of the adachi fight, it’d be pretty cool if it was just Yu vs Adachi, but then after getting beaten and he starts getting possessed, your friends come join in the fight
Only thing I hated were the interrogation parts where you had to run around and talk with the NPC's .. they really felt dragged out after a while, especially if you play the game multiple times. Otherwhise I love it .. I hope they make a remake. Would be a nice addition, and if it sucks we still have the original
I feel like Marie’s dungeon should be post game content, similar to Maruki’s palace in P5R. I don’t like how there’s just a whole dungeon thrown in between Ameno Sagiri and Izanami. I feel like it ruins that false sense of accomplishment of defeating Adachi/revealing the culprit behind the murders. Having another dungeon right after we defeated the “final boss”, and before the Izanami reveal, ruins the illusion a bit.
I think fighting Adachi alone would work, if they follow what they did the Shido boss fight in persona 5 royal. for most of the fight you have all of your party members, but near the end it force you to fight him alone.
I would absolutely add the party members getting their main character development as well as their ultimate personas in to the main story, like it is with P3. I always hated that change from 3 to 4.
I think when p4 gets a remake it would be a crime to not add on to Adachi I think if they would bring the social link episodes back it should be for characters like Adachi maybe doing all the social episodes will unlock a secret fight with Adachi. I don’t know. I just wanna solo Adachi.
First off, I really appreciate that you think P4 doesn't need a remake anytime soon and that you don't really want one at the moment but still expressing your wish list for things IF they did make one. Good way to put it, really. Though first disagree, I definitely don't want Marie's SL being mandatory. I do want her better implemented onto the story but not by forcing her Link on the player. Most mandatory SLs tend to be the most forgettable ones and don't feel genuine since you aren't choosing to bond with them. I want Marie to stay optional and her dungeon to stay locked behind its completion since it shows there's more to the game after beating Adachi and hints at the True Ending without being too blatant, so it feels like a good reward in getting the full picture. I'd actually love to see her as a bonus party member for the final dungeon if you complete hers, maybe it's because I saw P5R before P4 but Marie really feels like the kind of character who wants to be a party member but just... isn't one. On gameplay, honestly just have the battle UI be more like P5R and P3R (as in mapping different buttons to different commands), give them their own version of Baton Pass, AOA finishers for everyone, some kind of Theurgy equivalent and some mechanic to help party members not fall off like P3R's clock EXP boosts. And one thing I've honestly always wanted in Persona but only really got on P5 Strikers: Make it so on New Game+ you can use everyone from the start regardless of plot. As for overworld stuff, yeah hard agree on map UI telling you who's available and whether they'll rank up, and some sort of message system. And another small adapted change, add the ability to save anywhere outside of dungeons. On Bosses, I agree with another comment who suggested making Adachi a reverse Shido: Start the fight alone as he cuts you off from your friends and have them join the fight part-way through to symbolize Yu's bonds with them. Maybe add a point in the fight where after enough damage there's a scripted event where he gets the upper hand but your party comes in clutch, also make his whole fight just a lil harder because he is kinda lame rn. And yeah please nerf Shadow Mitsuo (and Shadow Yukiko, she's awfully brutal for the first boss) a lil bit. And lastly for music, gotta disagree on changing out of I'll Face Myself, it's a great tune and it already gets its own remixes for the Mitsuo and Marie fights which would lose impact without the original being prevalent. P3 has Master of Shadow and P5 has Blooming Villain as the standard major boss themes and no one complains about them. I'd instead ask for a better and more original mini-boss theme that isn't just a remix of Reach Out To The Truth, which could also be used for the bonus bosses that spawn after clearing dungeons. And yes, PLEASE give Adachi his own boss theme, A New World Fool is not only a very mediocre track but isn't even unique to him since you listen to it earlier on Kunino-Sagiri. And I would definitely love a better final boss theme, I actually don't really like The Genesis at all. It's foreboding and menacing, yeah, but it feels more like a boss intro theme than an actual battle track, and The Fog from the first phase is far better. Oh, and one thing I nearly forgot: PLEASE make Izanagi-no-Okami actually good on New Game+ and let us register it. Not necessarily P5R broken level, just good.
Mitsuo Kubo is a first playthrough trap of a boss fight. It did force me to rethink how I played the game with it being my first Persona game I wasn't using all my options. It really was just how many actions he gets in a single turn. Add in enversion and it's just a pain for a first run. Do agree he should be toned down. Also agree Marie should be implemented more in the main plot so she feels less like an add in. An add in that doesn't even feel that tacked on all things considered. I think they did better with her than Kasumi from P5R. Adding more to Adachi is also something that would great cause if you don't do his social link you miss out on so much of him. So some more scenes with him would be good way to keep him in your mind throughout the whole game and help you understand why he did all of this if you ignored his social link. Surprised you didn't touch on gameplay, because I would make some small and big changes. First is just add in non-insta kill light and dark attacks. Just made me affraid to ever use a Persona weak to either since it was game over if I ran into a user of those skills. The randomness of battle as you gain access to your parties various skills through social links is sometimes really fun but it can feel like the game is playing itself. I would like some more control over these moments. Maybe shuffle around some skills of the party members like P3R did, to help balance out the roster. Lastly my pipe dream change is bring in the physical system from Persona 3. Persona 3 is the game that made physical attacks the most effective and satisfying. With this simple addition. It made Physical attacks go from broken on the few enemies weak to them, or a last resort move if they're immune to the elements the party member has. Even the physical characters don't make them feel that strong. The distribution is already in the game with Yu, Yosuke and Teddie being slash. Chie and Kanji being strike. Yukiko and Naoto being pierce. That's a change I would never expect but a man can dream dammit. P4G still has amazing gameplay it's not bad it's just not the best in the series. I just think they can take aspects that they've improved in the franchise and make it so much better.
Fun Fact: Both Ken and Fuuka's original English VAs are unknown, as nobody has ever claimed credit for either of their roles. and for some reason, all original P3 releases (SMT, FES, and Portable) lack a VA section in the credits. GRANTED, with how many people hate the overall voice direction in those games, I really wouldn't blame them from keeping a crucial section like that out.
For the Adachi fight, I think it could be done similar to how Shido is in P5R; it would start with your party, but have a final phase with just Narukami
A better way would be: Adachi: 1 on 1 between Yu and Adachi Ameno Sagiri: Other party members vs Ameno Sagiri, and the scene unlocking their second personas (Got the idea from the anime)
Nah 4 should be done sooner the voice cast was too strong they should keep those og ones they’re getting old but they’re all still pretty popular, popular enough to not be replaced they can put anyone for p1,p2 they obviously won’t reuse that cast again
I feel like maybe Yosuke's romance was removed because he's supposed to represent your best friend, and be the easiest social link to max out. Romances tend to be hard to max out, with social stat requirements so you can only get them complete near the end of the game. If you really wanted to, you could max out Yosuke's link by the second story arc, which is probably why they removed the romance. Maybe the remake could add a non-automatic Teddie social link, like how they changed Akechi in Royal, and he could be a potential romance option instead, because Teddie as a character seems like he'd be more into that anyway. (See 0:27). He could be relatively late-game and have a social stat requirement to complete.
Isn’t Ann’s romance in Persona 5 also one you can do really early and easy? I feel like it being early and easy isn’t an issue they care about anymore? I think I heard some where that it was removed due to backlash from play testers or something along those lines? Either way though I hope they add the option back in. @@AwesomelyTsundere Ann does have a social stat requirement to start Rank 2, and it won’t start until the Madarame arc. Granted it is low, but it is the hardest stat to raise at that point in the game. Not that it isn’t easy to max early, however that’s the only one in the game, and I feel like generally they want to have the romance options hard to unlock, or at the very least have a social stat limitation to complete. Also I’m not too sure where you heard that play tester thing, I doubt that would be true. Besides, I do feel like Yosuke doesn’t fit the whole boyfriend thing anyway, because the whole besties dynamic would kind of change if you could date him. That’s why I feel Teddie would fit way better as a romance option, because he has openly attracted to men on multiple occasions, and his relationship with Yu was never the whole best friends thing like Yosuke, in fact it’s pretty close to being somewhat romantic.
@ I’ll have to agree to disagree on the dynamic thing. I felt a lot of best friends to lovers type chemistry with Yosuke. Meanwhile the idea of romancing Teddie fells really off putting to me (kinda feels like it would have the same vibes as the Ken romance for femc in p3p) ….
Going to butt in for a second to give my two sense as i've had this conversation numerous of times. I feel like Yosuke's romance should be player triggered, but make it like where you have to choose a specific dialogue choice throughout his social link, kinda like when you're able to hug him. I think the main reason it was removed, and from what o saw the most agreed upon reason is that this is Japan in 2009. Homosexuality wasn't seen well as it is today, hell it still isn't really seen well. I feel like that's the most logical explanation to why the romance for him was removed. Also I do not think Teddie would be a good romance, he's goofy and silly, but overall, personally, ehhhh.
@ By player triggered do you mean kind of like some of the romances in P3R? Where they have platonic and romantic routes before you actually commit to the romance? Fuuka, Chihiro, and Yuko in particular I think I remember being like this. Because I really enjoyed that in general and would kind of like to see that for more romances in general and in this particular case I can see that working well here.
I just started P4G since I desperately need a pallet cleanser after the brutal ending of P3R. And I actually really enjoy the graphics. Idk, crude 3D graphics are so cozy and nostalgic to me.
Honestly the only things I would want from a remake is a better integration of Marie, better graphics and improvements of the combat and dungeons. Also, the fog from the vanilla version would be cool.
I think it’d probable they’ll do a p4 remake soon if they want to do one, p3r was received very well and p4 is the only other persona game to use the same game mechanics so it’d be a lot easier for them to scratch p4 off now while they have the assets. P4 is also very popular already so it’d be a pretty safe remake for them to do.
The things I’d want to see off the top of my head are: - the voiced social links - they add more emotion to the scenes and help them feel more integrated into the overall story - social link changes - I do actually like the idea of making marie a story social link, but I feel this could also be done with Adachi so you don’t miss out on the full story. Teddie on the other hand I think would benefit from the opposite, give him something similar to sumires in p5 where it starts as 5 levels (story based) and then turns into 10 (social link based), a lot of his story social links aren’t even that much about him and feel shoehorned in so he’s max rank and a lot of people don’t use him in fights cause you can’t manually learn his social skills, so I think making him a social link would be better both for his character and his utility. - general story changes - some of the scenes need to be toned down or reworked for the modern audience, the camping scene is a good example as I think it’d be better if yosuke panicked more at the idea of kanji finding them attractive more than saying kanji is unsafe. (Other scenes to change would be stuff like the pageant and the hot springs scenes (cause really why were they talking about certain stuff with nanako there)) - localisation fixes - p4 is pretty notorious for having a lot of poor translations, this is mainly seen in teddie who’s much more obviously not aware of word meanings in the original Japanese text than the English. I forget the exact wording for the Japanese but in the one scene that people hate him for where he’s “flirting” with nanako in the English, is actually him just fondly calling her a little princess or something similar to make her laugh - aesthetic - I think it’d be easy to stylise the p4 menus tbh, keep the tv theme and add some static transitions, tv dials, old film roll vibes - winter - the winter section of p4 is very bland as you have already completed most social links and have max stats, i think it’d be good to add a few hang outs like what p5r has (darts and pool) to manually level up skills or party members, or if bonus hang out cutscenes like in p3r to add more depth to characters - character rebalancing - listen as much as i love yosuke he is easily the worst party member in the game, im sure he has his niche on some builds and the game is easy enough you can use anyone you want but his move pool is easily the least useful. Id say to drop naoto back to only having light/dark skills like she did in base p4 so that she’s not robbing yosuke of his wind utility, give him better buffing/healing to make use of his speed stat. Chie to needs a bit more bulk to compete with kanjis usefulness. Teddies kamui miracle needs to less useless, they’re is next to no reason to use it over just choosing a specific skill he already has, I actively choose not to learn it it’s that bad, making it more of a “random high strength attack/buff” with a low chance to give a negative effect would give it better utility). Yukiko is perfect tho don’t change her - background references - idk I think it’d be funny to see sho from p4a lurking around in the background
The UI definitely needs an update, by todays Persona Standard it’s very bland. You can still have a TV style just with Yu transitioning between the different channels. I think the boss fights are perfectly fine too, I don’t think the Kubo fight was hard I got done with it quick. Also a 1v1 with Adachi goes against the friendship message. Yu is where he is because of his friends while Adachi is where he’s at because of him pushing everyone away. The music is fine I don’t think each boss needs their own theme the boss theme they have is fine just needs to be updated. Main things Persona 4 remake would really need is just battle QOL, introducing baton pass into the game as well as making dungeons less boring. Nothing wrong with how they are built but having more things to do other than just find the stairs and continue would make them more fun. I don’t think Thergy in the game would fit since they already have their own version of Showtimes with duo attacks and the bike attacks, there’s also just no easy way to implement that kind of mechanics easily in lore since they just take a bunch of random shit into the dungeons and beat up shadows with stop signs, chairs, fans, baseball bats. Just rebalance the party members, baton pass and more modern graphics and animations to make those signature attacks, duo attacked and bike attacks much cooler
If there’s one thing I’d absolutely want in a P4 remake if they do make it, it’s a femc route. You know Atlus will probably never let us be gay for the male characters lol so the closest we could get is with a femc. It’s a lot more work for them, but if the fanbase demanded it enough, I’m sure they’d listen, that’s really the only reason I’d even justify it getting a remake, to give us something new, because honestly the base P4G is already good as is.
Playing through golden rn after p5r and p3r I’d definitely make the dungeon crawling a lot smoother right now it feels like the gameplay is lwokey a chore sometimes to get to the goated ahh story and charactees

I would love to see the whole SMT IV Apocalypse thing with the name brought back, only this time done properly, I don't think they could do it that exact way (pretty much in Apocalypse you're given the chance to name your character once you get your phone, canon name "Nanashi" is already there, but you get another chance to rename him later) but I think they could do it if they wanted to, none of this "Leader", "Nanashi", etc, just say his name
Honestly, the reason I think why P4 doesn't need a Remake as badly as P3 did was because unlike P3, P4 didn't aged badly Gameplay-wise or had a version with QoL improvements and extra additions but was downgraded due to the hardware it was originally released. Fans were split because no one could agree on whatever FES or Portable was the best way to play P3, I honestly think picking between them was more like picking which poison will hurt your experience less; Good Cutscenes and Good Graphics (for the time), but horrible, badly aged Gameplay or Improved Gameplay with QoL Improvements and new stuff, but everything else is Drowngraded. I have to say that after playing P3 Reload, I agree that a P4 Rerun (a more fitting name if you ask me) would be really cool, but it's not a priority as P4G is good as it is
They really need to focus more on Persona 1 and 2 as they are in DESPERATE need of a remake. Even after that I would much rather have them focus on Persona 7 (if 6 is already out) than a P4 Remake.

i think they need to change the dungeons. maybe its because im not a big fan of turn based rpgs, but it was literally so boring i set the game to very easy and blasted through them. i almost did that in persona 3 reload too because of tartarus, but i pushed through it. of course they dont have to be like p5r dungeons, just add some variety or something.
It's funny how a lot of people say "Why adding gay romances? That's stupid, catering to 5% of the population is a horrible idea, you're being selfish yada yada". But like, every game has had straight romances all the time, and a lot of weird ones, like Kawakami's in Persona 5. But then just ADDING a healthy romance between a guy and another guy of his age, who is already a very close friend, is not okay? Just adding, not even forcing it, like in og Persona 3, where you get the romance route just from leveling up your social link. If you want to romance a guy, you can. If you don't want to, just don't And a little change I'd like a remake to have is on Naoto. Not make her transgender, since that'd be a pretty huge change that I understand why a lot of people wouldn't like. But make it less... Weird? Like make her accept herself as a girl, but not having to force herself to be feminine just to make people happy, and let her be masculine for the rest of the story even if she's still a cis girl. I found it a bit weird how at first she really wants to be perceived as masculine and then it's like "Hey, wanna goon to Naoto now that you know she's a girl????"
Yeah, the only ones I can see changing are Dojima (Ideally to Taliesin Jaffe - plays the part of a caring yet slightly aloof mentor well), Nanako (I can see them switching her to Michelle Marie, because Karen Strassman was in controversy a while back and she's able to play the part of "Younger sister" type characters well) and Amber Lee Connors for Izanami (Maybe Janice Kawaye as Marie)

I don't mind whether if Atlus remakes P4G or just updates the P4G we already have. However, I do think some changes are needed (besides graphics & UI, also Spoilers for P5R): 1. Like u said about Adachi, though personally, I would still want to bring in my teammates, maybe Atlus can do what they already did with Shido's fight in P5R, where in his last phase, he gets rid of all ur teammates & Joker fights him alone, in which is not too hard to imagine Adachi doing the same, leaving behind Yu & Rise (as a support) to fight him. 2. For Marie, I agree that maybe Atlus should do more to make Marie part of the story of P4, like they did with Kasumi/Sumire in P5R, by adding her in parts of the P5 story, like when u encounter Kasumi/Sumire talking to Kamoshida in school, during the Hawaii trip (though personally, I would like to be able to hang out with her on the beach) & the school dance (there was even a cutscene for Kasumi/Sumire dancing), maybe they could include actual scenes from P4GA (provided u reach a minimum rank in Marie's SL). 3. For the Social Links (SLs), maybe Dojima & Nanako should be 1 SL instead of 2 separate SLs (they're basically inseparable, so 2 separate SLs for them make no sense, besides SLs can have multiple people like Kou/Daisuke in Strength), or better yet give their SLs to someone else (like I propose Aika Nakamura for Hierophant & Taro Namatame for Justice). While on the topic on SLs, I feel that if a SL rank event involves other SL characters (like Rank 2-7 of Marie's SL), that other SL character should also get SL points (provided u choose the right dialogue option when talking to them). For the Summer festival at the Shrine, I believe they should lower the rank requirements for Chie, Yukiko & Ai Ebihara, as I couldn't get Chie & Yukiko (despite having them at Rank 4 & 5 at that point) while Rise is available on Rank 1 or 2 (mind you, I'm on NG+), like the rank requirements for Hawaii dates in P5R weren't as stringent (prolly also cuz it's later on in the game as compared to P4G). 4. Make Junes a place to buy items (I mean it's literally a supermarket, and I can't buy cat food to feed the cat), and as a bonus, allow us to work part-time there (besides when Yosuke asks u to work there). If u work at Junes, u can randomly meet any 1 of ur SL characters and gain SL points like if u work at the convenience store & florist in P5R. 5. For the Dungeon gameplay, the #1 thing that needs changing are the Golden Hands (those things are annoying AF!!!), they should wait at least 3 turns before escaping, also if they're down and ur nearby, there should be a command (like triangle for PS4) to home in on them to start the fight (especially would help if there's a treasure box nearby and u DON'T wanna open it as it might have a shadow inside). Maybe bring back the random cash found in treasure boxes like in P3P, cuz the cash dropping in P4G is just terrible (on Normal difficulty, I can go through every revisitable dungeon except Marie's and will only have 1.5 million Yen to carry over to NG+, which depletes in just a few monts). 6. Especially NG+ should have some changes, most notably being able to carry weapons, accessories & items over, instead of having to buy them again from Daidara, or farming the Reaper
Skimmed through it (i'm not finished with Persona 5 Royal) but i agree with a lot of what you said. You went WAYYYY more in depth than what i did. I was mainly just trying to graze the surface of what could be changed, most of it being changed to small things and all of that. I like all the things that you mentioned.
Also, considering that the cash & XP drops on Hard & Very Hard (Risky in Vanilla P4) are just bad, maybe another thing that can balance it out will be to have Golden Hands drop more on harder difficulties (like 250k-500k Yen per hand defeated on Very Hard), cuz otherwise the only way to increase cash drops is to set the difficulty to Very Easy.
Another good idea would be if the Fox (Hermit) SL provides additional benefits for dungeon exploring (perhaps even work like Jose from P5R), like cash multipliers & increased chances of finding Golden Hands (I mean, it's a magical fox, so why not). Also, in terms of SLs, I believe some of the SLs (most notably Naoto, Yukiko & maybe Yosuke) can also be done at night as there are simply too many to fulfill during the day and too few SLs at night, like especially Naoto's SL (Fortune) can be designed like Adachi's SL (Jester/Hunger), where some events happen during the day, and others at night. Kou/Daisuke (Strength) and Yumi/Ayane (Sun) SLs in my opinion, should also be available on holidays (only restriction being that they have to be the same days as normal school days) where you can go to Yaso High and select which school club to attend at the gate, and this might be controversial, but I feel Ai's SL (Moon) should be available during non-school days, with Ai Ebihara available to hangout in front of the clothing store at Okina City on non-school days.
1 more thing that I believe should be changed is the fact that Christmas Eve dates require defeating Adachi & Ameno Sagiri by 12/22, which in my opinion is too strict, should make the girls call u on morning of 12/24 instead of 12/23 (as if u defeat Adachi & Ameno Sagiri on 12/23, u will automatically skip over to 12/25 after the fight). I mean even P5R doesn't do this, as the romance options will automatically contact u once u defeated Yaldabaouth. Do the same for P4G pls!

One change that absolutely needs to happen is changing the method of encountering The Reaper.

@@JavaFelix Another change I would make is the part where Adachi catches one of Rise's stalkers and lies about him being the killer. It was fixed in the anime, but it was so annoying that the Investigation Team assumed that he was the killer.

Funny thing: two (maybe more) voices were changed between base game and Golden. Chie and Teddy were changed from original to Erin Fitzgerald and Sam Riegel respectively while others remained unchanged.

I'm fine if they change some of them, but Yu, Kanji, Yosuke, Teddie, and Chie 100% need to have the same VA, as well a lot of the main side characters as well (i.e. mainly Dojima, Adachi, and Nanako).

I think one thing I disagree with in this video is the Adachi fight. I feel like having the protagonist + his friends take down Adachi is a really simple, really effective way to show the whole friendship and bonds thing that serves as the difference between the protagonist and Adachi.
I really like that perspective and didn't really think about it, idk how I forgot one of the biggest themes of Persona 4.
Maybe they could do a reverse Shido scenario. Start the fight as a solo Yu vs. Adachi, and after a bit, the party members you were using beforehand run in.
@@ruthmcnally310 I think it would be cool to do what the anime did. Have Yu's friends fighting the reaper (have it be the canonical fight for the reaper, you can always fight himself later), while Yu fights Adachi. Maybe do what you did and his Party members come in.
No changes to the dungeons?? I think that's most excepted change I'd like see. I feel like persona 4's dungeons can be changed into a persona 5 style like palaces where it's more interactive.
Personally, i never had an issue with the dungeons. Yea they got kinda annoying sometimes, especially Marie's but nothing really to write home about. If i would've thought more at the time, there's a lot more i've could've talked about, but this stuff was mainly the things to come first to mind. Apologies.
@@JavaFelix Completely understandable. I feel like the Persona 4 dungeons are like Persona 5 palaces not like Mementos or Tartarus in a sense so it would be cool to see them revamped to match each Person's personality like in 5 (Sae is casino and getting key cards, Shido for getting notes ect)
@@Random-Guy-123 the thing is that the palaces in Persona 5 are probably a natural evolution to the character specific dungeons found in persona 4. and it would really mesh well if they made it non procedural. Unfortunately, I don't think they have the time to make it as specialized, and its honestly pretty sad since the dungeons and battles were the only weak points of the game.
Im a bit on the fence with this one, p5 objectively has better and more thoughtfully designed dungeons. However when it comes to replayability I STRONGLY dislike going back through, it feels very "on rails" during subsequent playthroughs and having to redo the puzzles and skip so much dialogue gets tedious. P4 I can just blast through dungeons and focus on things I enjoy
regarding the solo adachi fight you mentioned. i mean, persona 5 royal already did it with shido. you fight shido through a couple phases and then the end of the fight is a one-on-one. and iirc most people thought it was hype as hell
There was another comment that made me second guess it. In the anime, Yu has the fear of being alone, and I'm assuming that would go for in game Yu as well. I would like to see Yu and Adachi face off alone while his friend's defend him from other attacks, which would represent friendship in a way of "even if you're far away, friends can still have an impact on you." While if they're with you during the Adachi fight, it's a more direct way of saying that.

I think it's already been confirmed a P4 remake is being heavily considered and we'll probably see one sooner rather then later. Either way I'll take anything that makes Marie a more important character I wanna see her as a party member in the final dungeon

And having her join you in the fight against Izanami and the Margaret super boss would be pretty hype. As somebody who watched Persona 4 the Animation (not Golden, the ORIGINAL Persona 4 Anime), I think there's one more thing you could add Story-Wise.

So basically, if I remember correctly, there's a scene just before the Izanami Boss Fight where Yu actually has to fight Margaret, before it's revealed that he's essentially facing his own Shadow. I think that, overall, I do want to see it added into a potential remake. There's a surprising amount of stuff you can take from the anime and add into a remake of Persona 4.
Like how it was during the Ameno-Sagiri fight that everyone had their second awakening?

I think Persona 4 in particular would benefit from actual dungeons instead of the randomly generated layouts. Yukiko’s Castle and Naoto’s Lab are 2 of the ones that come to mind that would be so much better had it been fully realized. It would go along with the theme of the Investigation Team trying to solve a mystery and it would be an inverse of Persona 5s. Instead of learning about P5’s antagonists past, we get bits and pieces from our future party members. In my opinion, I find P4s dungeons to be the worse in the Hashino trilogy. There’s less floors yeah, but they’re so long and drag out.
8:26 I think they could pull a shido during Adachi’s fight. First phase will be like the original, once you reach a certain amount hp, we can seem him calling in the reaper due to his connection with the camera eye boss(forgot his name) and the party leaves to go handle it. Then it continues with just you and adachi. Adachi will gloat saying now that he has taken your friends away, there is no hope in beating him. What do you think
About the UI, I've been having an image of a menu like P3, where Makoto is floating in the water but with Yu facing upwards with maybe like beams of sunlight and a VCR filter
I disagree with the boss themes for the characters' shadows. I'll Face Myself is a really good boss theme and the leitmotifs present in it (Backside of the TV, Signs of Love, the other I'll Face Myself) imo make it a beautifully sad boss theme for all the party members. Maybe having each fight be a different arrangement of I'll Face Myself would work but it's the one thing i personally would keep as is

I agree with keeping the voice cast from Golden (although technically it actually had some recasts itself).
While not confirmed, a big possibility for why the P3R cast changed is likely due to the controversy behind Junpei's OG VA, Vic Mingionia. He was accused of SA by Monica Rial, and has been blacklisted by the VA community. Fans are split down the middle between him being guilty or innocent, so it's entirely possible that they changed the entire cast so as to not enrage Vic's fans for him being the only person not to reprise their role. Though, if you notice, he's the only one of the original cast who doesn't have any side character roles. Minato and Pharos's VA playing Yukari's dad, Yukari's VA playing the antique shop owner and one of Mitsuru's maids; Fuuka and Ken's P4A and PQ VA's playing the mother and son from Ken's link episodes; Akihiko's VA playing Kurosawa; Shinjiro's VA playing Mitsuru's dad; Mitsuru's VA reprising her role as Elizabeth; and Aigis' VA playing the old lady from her social link, and the art teacher.
It's because of that mess that I choose not to believe SA/H allegations that are made on Social Media.

I was more thinking a 4 remake would be called rerun, to fit the tv style, but rewind works pretty well too.
If there is one thing I would change about P4, it's how the Second Awakenings work. Because they are tied to completing your party members social links, and social links, while heavily encouraged by the game are technically optional, it makes their SL character and their Story character feel dissonant from one another. I think how P3 handled second awakenings, with them being tied to personal growth within the story, was the better way to do it. A way both of these ideas can be implemented is by having their Second Awakenings tied to story progress, but rewarding the player for completing their social link before the awakening with new skills representing the bond you share with them.
It would be a way of following through on one of the lines the original P4 opening had ("We're all trapped in a maze of relationships that goes on, with or without you"), that people will inevitably grow and change as time slowly marches on. Whether or not you want to be a part of that person's growth is ultimately up to you.

the overall boss and dungeon also felt so forced in my opinion. Idk just for me i clearly knew he wasn’t the killer and the morbid side of me kept saying: if he is the killer then just leave him, why save him and try this negotiation that clearly isn’t working cause the guy is like completely pretentious and unwilling to listen? I totally agree though i liked the idea of the dungeon with the old RPG style, but the overall build up, boss and lore was just heinous.
I do agree with them for not leaving him there, as that would COMPLETELY contradict the true ending with not throwing Namatame in. But yes, his boss fight was atrocious.
I disagree he is the only one who showed us what happens when you don’t accept yourself, the interactions with his shadow are so interesting if you look deep enough you’ll see that he has some depth to him just look hard enough and one of the reasons you thought he is not the killer is because its too early to reveal the true killer otherwise he fits the description hell he is a killer and fits to confuse the player.
Also his dungeon idea was pretty cool idk what more you want.
Tho i understand why you’d think he is forced but he is not, he is important to the overall story.
Things that I would change/fix:
Story/Characters- mostly the pacing at points or the dialogue from the characters (I’m looking at you Yosuke with Kanji at times, Teddie’s constant perving, and especially Dojima at points in the game 😑)
Music- add a little more variations of the existing tracks but maybe add remixes or just more versions of the songs.
Downtime/Social Links- change the fortunes to not take up free time, they did it just fine in 5, so just repeat it here. Have something to do durning rain, aside from either fishing/studying as it gets so boring so quickly. Just slightly change the pacing in some of the links here/there.
Combat- speed it up as it can take a while for the animations to fully play out, have more enemies be susceptible to ailments, and bring shock and freeze back while bringing in burn, ailments for the most part are hit/miss. And also show a screen for the durations of the buffs/debuffs skills. As for their weapons that you can get from the night pub in exchange from gems found in the dungeons, either expand the catalog or have more items to trade for the gems, otherwise they just sit in your items until they’re being sold and often times the weapons are bad-mediocre, so more variety would be nice to see.
Party members- give some slight stat buffs and add more strengths/weaknesses for more of a challenge, change some of their social link skills and bike skills as a way to have more unique gameplay experience and not repeat the same things over and over, maybe do something like the Traits in 5 Royal, but slightly different. As an example, Yosuke is a Jack of All Trades, his skills are mostly wind and some physical skills, with some healing and support skills. He learns an Almighty skill from his bike rides, but by the time you get it, its damage output is outclassed quickly. So have him learn more unique skills to either set ailments/debuffs or have more passive skills, like Evade Ice/Invigorate 3, etc. Just an example of course but we’d be here forever 😂😅
Dungeons- durning the exploring/boss fights, have a colored fog through out but not too obstructive, ex. Yukiko’s castle having a red fog, Kanji’s sauna having more of a clear steam but it’s yellowish, and so on. Add more unique floor layouts or change up the dungeon’s floors the higher/lower (depending if it’s going upstairs or downstairs) and have it cosmetics changed up.
New game+- have weapons/accessories transfer over, especially the ones dropped from the Reaper (though those could be reworked to have better effects on the party members as well).
As much as I do enjoy 4G, even I’ll admit it can get very repetitive at times and it’s so slow especially during new game+ runs, but aside from the nitpicks, I do enjoy the game and the characters 😊
Aside from the fact that i don't want a remake of p4 i'd say some of the things that they should change are: 1) the final plot twist is bad really really bad, they should try to add some scenes to make it more apparent without making it seem too obvious and secondly rework how the adachi sl works, i swear just because of that i figured out that he was the killer
I really like Adachi as a killer, but it's kinda obvious (and for the fact that I was spoiled). I wish they would have more mandatory scenes with him besides the ones after Namatame. It would make him seem more important and would help players develop a better connection to him so his turn would be more impactful.

I agree, i found his SL not really obvious that he was the killer (im dumb so i never realized that he was gone when someone was kidnapped, and also i always went in right as they did), i found it more annoying than everything. Emphasis in "supposed to". The fact he uses his position as a cop as part of his cover is important, even if he's pretending to be a lazy slacker.
Personally, I'd change the fact his SL locks itself after Rank 6 and becomes plot-based conveniently right after catching Namatame, which only raises red flags of why you get sudden Adachi Rank-Ups in the middle of a plot cutscene.
I'll Face Myself is a bop. If Atlus were to change anything with boss fight music, they could make a remix of that like in Mitsuo's dungeon.

I'd only want a remake if they revamped the dungeons and made them more like the palaces in p5. It's a lot of work but it's the only part of the game that's lacking. Everything else about the game is just needs a new coat of paint.
I wish they gave more character to Yu, he shows up to Inaba without much background and there are few times where it feels that his character shines through and i wish i could’ve seen more of that, i also don’t like the feeling that everyone relies on Yu and that they don’t find their own truth and individuality
They really need to add Yu's arc from the anime into the game. Especially the part during Kubo's boss. Yu being scared of losing his friends and being alone would be great. I know the game is trying to keep the protagonist bland and stuff so you can "self-insert" yourself, but I feel like they should make a special case for Yu and make him his own character.

Interesting video. I agree with a lot of points, and disagree with others, but I do think a lot of your suggested implementations would make P4G better, ie. keep the voice casts and add Ying Yang to the Adachi fight because that song slaps. (Personal tangent: I still think Golden screwed up the True Ending, by leaving in achievements and Adachi's last Social Link Rank tied to it. The beauty of the True Ending was whether you took the game's themes to heart and questioned the "good" ending you got for beating Adachi, and asked if it was truly solved. If they just fixed that and made it more ihdden/you had to look for it yourself without being prompted, that would instantly make a remake of P4G far stronger).
I like that viewpoint, but I feel like it would go with what I said about having Yu and Adachi being the only ones in the Adachi battle. It would be very interesting for story, but wouldn't be a good gameplay point (subjective), especially for the people who will complain about it.
I think making the true ending more hidden is actually a really good idea, maybe make more steps to find it, kinda like how you needed to talk to a bunch of people to get info on Namatame.

Yea, i watched a video about the voice cast, well mentioned it and said how it was amazing how they had all of these famous VAs together since now a days it would be EXPENSIVE to get them all, though i would think it would be nice, though unlikely
Some of the changes that Persona 4 "Reboot" needs:
1. If they do recasts akin to Persona 3 Reload, keep Johnny as Yu, but give him voiced lines. Also, change his tone for Adachi a bit
2. Modify the Magatsu-Inaba boss fight, so it goes as follows:
Phase 1: 1vs1 between Yu and Adachi
Phase 2: Yu's companions VS Ameno Sagiri (Don't forget that for a while, Yu was captured by him. Also incorporate the second awakenings into this scene, akin to the anime version - then pull a "Satanael" with Yu briefly summoning Lucifer to defeat Adachi)
3. Make Marie and Adachi's SL's integral to the plot (And when you max out Adachi, you unlock the ultimate persona of both Jester and Hunger)
4. Modify the ending - Make it so if you choose not to take the romance route, there's a different news anchor to "Mariko", and you don't get the confession. Also, add a mention to Dancing All Night, like maybe a part where Rise mentions signing them up for auditions.
5. During the interrogation with Dojima, make it so that there's a way to convince him (Maybe if you've got high enough knowledge, or being given the option to stick your hand in the TV to demonstrate), but Nanako gets captured while Yu explains everything that happened afterwards.
6. Give a funnier reaction to "Be an ass and leave", instead of just a "See ya" from the others
7. Fully voiced Social Links, akin to P3R
8. Give comical responses when Hanako destroys Yosuke's motorcycle, ie.
A: "Meh, C'est la vie"
B. "Ouch... How much did THAT cost?"
C. "What can be said? Mistakes happen"
9. Sneak the "Mystery Food X" over to someone else, instead of choosing whether or not to eat it (As a third option, I mean)
10. Add a "Classic Mode", which gives the aesthetic and mechanics of Persona 4 Golden
11. Add some references to upcoming events, i.e. Maybe a line from Naoto about the rumours of a successor to her title of "Detective Prince"?
12. More bosses, ie. Shadow Saki
13. Give the Gas Station attendant a different VA to Izanami (I think that was the biggest giveaway)
To be honest with you this game story is great on top of how the main crew feels like a genuine friend group. I love that but everything else about it is just eh for starters It’s just really old. Maybe it’s just me, but if they overhaul fusion dungeon, bosses, and add new mechanics this would it would make the game better. I’m definitely gameplay first before anything
Marie would be usable for sure. The foreshadowing to her being used in the credits as it is...maybe during development they dropped it.
All I really want in a P4G remake is that the dungeons feel more like TV Shows, like Yukiko's being like a gameshow (Almost like Takeshi's Castle) or like Naoto's being a science show where you create chemicals to beat certain shadows
If I were approached by Atlus about how I would "change" Persona 4 for a Remake, it would be to bring over Blazing Hell, Ice Age, Vacuum Wave, Wild Thunder, Kougaon + Makougaon and Eigaon + Maeigaon, Gigantomachia from Persona 5/ Persona 5 Royal. I'd also want to bring the mechanic of finding money in chests back from Persona 3.
Ragnarok, Niflheim, Panta Rhei and Thunder Reign would also receive buffs so that they're better than Agidyne, Bufudyne, Garudyne and Ziodyne.
For passive skills, I'd bring in Dark Amp + Boost, Light Amp + Boost and Almighty Amp + Boost.
For Party Member Skill Sets, I'd have the following:
1. Yosuke with Panta Rhei and Debilitate (Replacing Dekaja).
2. Chie with Brave Blade.
3. Yukiko with Ragnarok.
4. Kanji with Thunder Reign and Gigantomachia.
5. Teddie with Niflheim, all the Auto-Ma Stat-Boosting skills, Heat Riser and Matarunda + Masukunda to go along with Marakunda.
6. Naoto with Dark, Light & Almighty Amps + Boosts, Eigaon + Maeigaon and Kougaon + Makougaon, as well as all the Passive Amp skills that were available in P4 already.
7. I wouldn't change anything about Rise, but I would give her Futaba's full-party Heat Riser ability.
PS. I'd also change the Adachi fight so that he can use his full Move-Set from P4, as well as give him Diarahan so that the fight can continue for longer. I'd also take Thunder Reign from Thor and give it to Odin.
Now that you mention it, Naoto having all that stuff is kind of exaggerated (since the original). The investigation team has only 8 members compared to SEES (10) and The phantom thieves (+10). In order to cover every elemental magic, i'd add more members. If creating new characters is too hard, maybe Marie or even Adachi or Sho and Labrys will be ok.
I'd also change Adachi's boss fight to make it longer. And/or adding a second phase where is only him vs Yu.

One thing I would change if getting information on the person in the TV, the parts where u have to go around town talking to people just to find out things you already know
I'd like an "80s Japanese detective anime" vibe from the UI. Since Inaba is relatively small, they can stylize the game a bit more.
The persona games that need to be remade the most are 1 and 2 because they are older and needs a shine in graphics 4 is already fine as is
I said that in the intro. Atlus needs to focus on a remake for their MUCH older games before even thinking about a Persona 4 remake.
Make Marie a character in TV world similar to the Fox, she can be used to teach your party members skills from skill cards (they wouldnt be able to learn every skill tho, only those they already learned and forgot and some that could compliment their skill sets)
That or have her as an optional navi (allowing Rise to be playable).
I played this for the first time in 2013. I had no internet to tell me how great persona was. I just I bought it off the playstation store
Here's my wishlist:
1.Make Team-up attacks optional like P5R Showtime attacks. You could choose whether to use it or not and skip the animation if you like. Also make new team-ups with each party member.
2.Bring Reaper weapons to NG+ and change the Reaper appearance mechanic.
3.More playable events. I'd say something like White Day on P5R and whatever there might be in-game.
Other than that no real changes to anything except maybe to combat and UI.
4. Make Izanagi-No-Okami stay in the Compendium after creation.
I like the concept of the accomplice ending, but i still feel like it doesn't feel realistic that Yu would do that. I understand why the MCs would do the other bad endings in the other games as well as why Yu would do the killing Namatame ending, but in the accomplice ending, by the time Adachi's asking him to burn the paper, I don't see why he would go along with it anymore since that should prove that Adachi isn't the person he thought he was
I like how the games flat out tells you basically that you're an asshole by leaving Adachi's number in your inventory in new game+. I feel like there are better ways to play with the accomplice ending, such as not skipping all the way to 3/20, and or building up to it once you settled on doing it.
I changes I would make are making Marie more integral to the story. Having her as a playable character as a bonus would be nice. Also I would like it if on New Game+, you could have all playable characters be available for combat at the beginning of the game. Kasumi was heavily featured in the marketing for Persona 5 Royal and you only get her as a playable character for the final optional dungeon. They did it in Persona 5 Strikers.
While I think a lot the concerns people had with Reload being "too much like P5" stylistically were way overblown, the small town, wholesomely goofy vibe of P4 is so integral to its identity imo that i would want to see a much more toned down version of what we got in P5 and P3R
Like the investigation team enters the TV world in their unaltered school uniforms and spend the majority of the game wielding brooms, chairs, kicks etc. instead of actual weapons, it'd be really jarring if they're pulling off super flashy moves and having bad-ass all-out-attack screens. I still want to see fluid menus and animations, and i'd be down for flashy super moves (probably using the duo finishers already in Golden as a base) but they need to have a touch of goofiness that reminds you these are just kids getting way over their heads into a murder mystery. Basically i want stuff along the lines of Junpei's first Theurgy in P3R.
That's what I was really trying to go for with that comment. I don't hate P3R and P5R's style, but looking at Persona 4, i just know it wouldn't fit it.
Thats another main reason why I like the cast more in P4 then P3. They feel like more realistic friends. SEES felt too artificial in a sense that everyone was kinda forced to be friends. Yes they ended up becoming friends in the end, but they wouldn't have otherwise. I guess the same could be said about P4, but idk they just have good chemistry. I think P5 has a good mix of both

Honestly most of the work would really be in creating new assets and just making P4 in P3R's engine. They don't really need to change most of the day to day life stuff and it would still be solid, maybe make Marie less shoehorned in I suppose. Realistically most of the changes would be combat and dungeon related, which is all I'd really want. One thing I liked about p3r was that unlike FES, the fights that were supposed to be hard were actually hard. But P4 has pretty decent difficulty scaling but shadow teddie for example is a massive spike that could be toned down. One thing I want to stay the same is Shihoko doing the music, since she's my favourite singer from the persona games. I don't care about if the English voice acting changing cause I play the Japanese versions but I do love Yuri Lowenthal. Overall I dont think P4 getting a remake is really needed, but if they did make it I'd 100% be on board, but if they dont want to I'm cool with that.
They would 100% keep Shihoko as the singer. The main reason why they replaced Yumi was because she has gotten to the point where she would barely sing anymore, while Shihoko still does persona concerts. I would like to also see more Lotus Juice in the music as well, though that could be subjective for a lot of people. I stand by the fact that I said in my video, that being Persona 4 should not be remade AT THE MOMENT. in like 5-10 years if Atlus has nothing better to do AND they finished a Persona 1 and 2 remake (remaster?) then they could maybe put some time into making the PERFECT Persona 4, using what they learned from remaking 3.
About the voice cast, i REALLY recommend you play Persona 4 at least once in English, you will not be disappointed.
@@JavaFelix I didn't know about Yumi being replaced because of that reason, I guess it's a shame but thanks for letting me know! I did play P4 in English back in the day, it definitely was my favourite dub of the persona games, but since then I already learned Japanese so I hardly play JRPGs in English anymore, I did replay it in English once but I just like the og a bit more. I get what you mean about not wanting them to do a remake now, while a P1 and 2 remake would be cool it's definitely P4 that would make them serious money if they had to choose. I feel like for P1 and 2 we'd at most get a port to steam/consoles, (maybe finally both parts of P2 can be available in English on the same platform lol) since they're much smaller games than p3 there's not as much merit in remaking them other than some people wanting it but I'd prefer new games over more remakes, not that I would refuse to play them if they came, since I do love these games.
Persona 4 would make them TONS of money if they did a remake. Hell, if it was the ONE game keeping the PS Vita alive for so long then it has a lot of potential for a remake. As someone who has yet to play Persona 1 and 2 (and the other 2), i'm unsure of how many people DO want them, the only thing I know is that half the time people are shitting on how P1 looks. I think for the first phase of the adachi fight, it’d be pretty cool if it was just Yu vs Adachi, but then after getting beaten and he starts getting possessed, your friends come join in the fight
Only thing I hated were the interrogation parts where you had to run around and talk with the NPC's .. they really felt dragged out after a while, especially if you play the game multiple times. Otherwhise I love it .. I hope they make a remake. Would be a nice addition, and if it sucks we still have the original
One major change I want to see in a Persona 4 remake is giving Margaret an actual social link instead of doing Persona fusion.

Personally, I enjoy the dungeons way more than tartarus, but they get really repetitive, especially Marie's dungeon.
I feel like Marie’s dungeon should be post game content, similar to Maruki’s palace in P5R.
I don’t like how there’s just a whole dungeon thrown in between Ameno Sagiri and Izanami. I feel like it ruins that false sense of accomplishment of defeating Adachi/revealing the culprit behind the murders.
Having another dungeon right after we defeated the “final boss”, and before the Izanami reveal, ruins the illusion a bit.
I think fighting Adachi alone would work, if they follow what they did the Shido boss fight in persona 5 royal. for most of the fight you have all of your party members, but near the end it force you to fight him alone.
I would absolutely add the party members getting their main character development as well as their ultimate personas in to the main story, like it is with P3. I always hated that change from 3 to 4.

First off, I really appreciate that you think P4 doesn't need a remake anytime soon and that you don't really want one at the moment but still expressing your wish list for things IF they did make one. Good way to put it, really.
Though first disagree, I definitely don't want Marie's SL being mandatory. I do want her better implemented onto the story but not by forcing her Link on the player. Most mandatory SLs tend to be the most forgettable ones and don't feel genuine since you aren't choosing to bond with them. I want Marie to stay optional and her dungeon to stay locked behind its completion since it shows there's more to the game after beating Adachi and hints at the True Ending without being too blatant, so it feels like a good reward in getting the full picture. I'd actually love to see her as a bonus party member for the final dungeon if you complete hers, maybe it's because I saw P5R before P4 but Marie really feels like the kind of character who wants to be a party member but just... isn't one.
On gameplay, honestly just have the battle UI be more like P5R and P3R (as in mapping different buttons to different commands), give them their own version of Baton Pass, AOA finishers for everyone, some kind of Theurgy equivalent and some mechanic to help party members not fall off like P3R's clock EXP boosts. And one thing I've honestly always wanted in Persona but only really got on P5 Strikers: Make it so on New Game+ you can use everyone from the start regardless of plot. As for overworld stuff, yeah hard agree on map UI telling you who's available and whether they'll rank up, and some sort of message system. And another small adapted change, add the ability to save anywhere outside of dungeons.
On Bosses, I agree with another comment who suggested making Adachi a reverse Shido: Start the fight alone as he cuts you off from your friends and have them join the fight part-way through to symbolize Yu's bonds with them. Maybe add a point in the fight where after enough damage there's a scripted event where he gets the upper hand but your party comes in clutch, also make his whole fight just a lil harder because he is kinda lame rn. And yeah please nerf Shadow Mitsuo (and Shadow Yukiko, she's awfully brutal for the first boss) a lil bit.
And lastly for music, gotta disagree on changing out of I'll Face Myself, it's a great tune and it already gets its own remixes for the Mitsuo and Marie fights which would lose impact without the original being prevalent. P3 has Master of Shadow and P5 has Blooming Villain as the standard major boss themes and no one complains about them. I'd instead ask for a better and more original mini-boss theme that isn't just a remix of Reach Out To The Truth, which could also be used for the bonus bosses that spawn after clearing dungeons. And yes, PLEASE give Adachi his own boss theme, A New World Fool is not only a very mediocre track but isn't even unique to him since you listen to it earlier on Kunino-Sagiri. And I would definitely love a better final boss theme, I actually don't really like The Genesis at all. It's foreboding and menacing, yeah, but it feels more like a boss intro theme than an actual battle track, and The Fog from the first phase is far better.
Oh, and one thing I nearly forgot: PLEASE make Izanagi-no-Okami actually good on New Game+ and let us register it. Not necessarily P5R broken level, just good.
Mitsuo Kubo is a first playthrough trap of a boss fight. It did force me to rethink how I played the game with it being my first Persona game I wasn't using all my options. It really was just how many actions he gets in a single turn. Add in enversion and it's just a pain for a first run. Do agree he should be toned down.
Also agree Marie should be implemented more in the main plot so she feels less like an add in. An add in that doesn't even feel that tacked on all things considered. I think they did better with her than Kasumi from P5R. Adding more to Adachi is also something that would great cause if you don't do his social link you miss out on so much of him. So some more scenes with him would be good way to keep him in your mind throughout the whole game and help you understand why he did all of this if you ignored his social link.
Surprised you didn't touch on gameplay, because I would make some small and big changes. First is just add in non-insta kill light and dark attacks. Just made me affraid to ever use a Persona weak to either since it was game over if I ran into a user of those skills. The randomness of battle as you gain access to your parties various skills through social links is sometimes really fun but it can feel like the game is playing itself. I would like some more control over these moments. Maybe shuffle around some skills of the party members like P3R did, to help balance out the roster.
Lastly my pipe dream change is bring in the physical system from Persona 3. Persona 3 is the game that made physical attacks the most effective and satisfying. With this simple addition. It made Physical attacks go from broken on the few enemies weak to them, or a last resort move if they're immune to the elements the party member has. Even the physical characters don't make them feel that strong. The distribution is already in the game with Yu, Yosuke and Teddie being slash. Chie and Kanji being strike. Yukiko and Naoto being pierce. That's a change I would never expect but a man can dream dammit.
P4G still has amazing gameplay it's not bad it's just not the best in the series. I just think they can take aspects that they've improved in the franchise and make it so much better.
Fun Fact: Both Ken and Fuuka's original English VAs are unknown, as nobody has ever claimed credit for either of their roles.
and for some reason, all original P3 releases (SMT, FES, and Portable) lack a VA section in the credits. GRANTED, with how many people hate the overall voice direction in those games, I really wouldn't blame them from keeping a crucial section like that out.

Ameno Sagiri: Other party members vs Ameno Sagiri, and the scene unlocking their second personas (Got the idea from the anime)

I feel like maybe Yosuke's romance was removed because he's supposed to represent your best friend, and be the easiest social link to max out. Romances tend to be hard to max out, with social stat requirements so you can only get them complete near the end of the game. If you really wanted to, you could max out Yosuke's link by the second story arc, which is probably why they removed the romance. Maybe the remake could add a non-automatic Teddie social link, like how they changed Akechi in Royal, and he could be a potential romance option instead, because Teddie as a character seems like he'd be more into that anyway. (See 0:27). He could be relatively late-game and have a social stat requirement to complete.
Isn’t Ann’s romance in Persona 5 also one you can do really early and easy? I feel like it being early and easy isn’t an issue they care about anymore? I think I heard some where that it was removed due to backlash from play testers or something along those lines? Either way though I hope they add the option back in. If I can’t have a femc then at least let me date the guys….
@@AwesomelyTsundere Ann does have a social stat requirement to start Rank 2, and it won’t start until the Madarame arc. Granted it is low, but it is the hardest stat to raise at that point in the game. Not that it isn’t easy to max early, however that’s the only one in the game, and I feel like generally they want to have the romance options hard to unlock, or at the very least have a social stat limitation to complete.
Also I’m not too sure where you heard that play tester thing, I doubt that would be true. Besides, I do feel like Yosuke doesn’t fit the whole boyfriend thing anyway, because the whole besties dynamic would kind of change if you could date him. That’s why I feel Teddie would fit way better as a romance option, because he has openly attracted to men on multiple occasions, and his relationship with Yu was never the whole best friends thing like Yosuke, in fact it’s pretty close to being somewhat romantic.
@ I’ll have to agree to disagree on the dynamic thing. I felt a lot of best friends to lovers type chemistry with Yosuke. Meanwhile the idea of romancing Teddie fells really off putting to me (kinda feels like it would have the same vibes as the Ken romance for femc in p3p) ….
Going to butt in for a second to give my two sense as i've had this conversation numerous of times. I feel like Yosuke's romance should be player triggered, but make it like where you have to choose a specific dialogue choice throughout his social link, kinda like when you're able to hug him.
I think the main reason it was removed, and from what o saw the most agreed upon reason is that this is Japan in 2009. Homosexuality wasn't seen well as it is today, hell it still isn't really seen well. I feel like that's the most logical explanation to why the romance for him was removed.
Also I do not think Teddie would be a good romance, he's goofy and silly, but overall, personally, ehhhh.
@ By player triggered do you mean kind of like some of the romances in P3R? Where they have platonic and romantic routes before you actually commit to the romance? Fuuka, Chihiro, and Yuko in particular I think I remember being like this. Because I really enjoyed that in general and would kind of like to see that for more romances in general and in this particular case I can see that working well here.

Honestly the only things I would want from a remake is a better integration of Marie, better graphics and improvements of the combat and dungeons. Also, the fog from the vanilla version would be cool.

I think for the battle themes for specific party members, they should be remixes of their p4 arena themes
I think it’d probable they’ll do a p4 remake soon if they want to do one, p3r was received very well and p4 is the only other persona game to use the same game mechanics so it’d be a lot easier for them to scratch p4 off now while they have the assets. P4 is also very popular already so it’d be a pretty safe remake for them to do.
The things I’d want to see off the top of my head are:
- the voiced social links - they add more emotion to the scenes and help them feel more integrated into the overall story
- social link changes - I do actually like the idea of making marie a story social link, but I feel this could also be done with Adachi so you don’t miss out on the full story. Teddie on the other hand I think would benefit from the opposite, give him something similar to sumires in p5 where it starts as 5 levels (story based) and then turns into 10 (social link based), a lot of his story social links aren’t even that much about him and feel shoehorned in so he’s max rank and a lot of people don’t use him in fights cause you can’t manually learn his social skills, so I think making him a social link would be better both for his character and his utility.
- general story changes - some of the scenes need to be toned down or reworked for the modern audience, the camping scene is a good example as I think it’d be better if yosuke panicked more at the idea of kanji finding them attractive more than saying kanji is unsafe. (Other scenes to change would be stuff like the pageant and the hot springs scenes (cause really why were they talking about certain stuff with nanako there))
- localisation fixes - p4 is pretty notorious for having a lot of poor translations, this is mainly seen in teddie who’s much more obviously not aware of word meanings in the original Japanese text than the English. I forget the exact wording for the Japanese but in the one scene that people hate him for where he’s “flirting” with nanako in the English, is actually him just fondly calling her a little princess or something similar to make her laugh
- aesthetic - I think it’d be easy to stylise the p4 menus tbh, keep the tv theme and add some static transitions, tv dials, old film roll vibes
- winter - the winter section of p4 is very bland as you have already completed most social links and have max stats, i think it’d be good to add a few hang outs like what p5r has (darts and pool) to manually level up skills or party members, or if bonus hang out cutscenes like in p3r to add more depth to characters
- character rebalancing - listen as much as i love yosuke he is easily the worst party member in the game, im sure he has his niche on some builds and the game is easy enough you can use anyone you want but his move pool is easily the least useful. Id say to drop naoto back to only having light/dark skills like she did in base p4 so that she’s not robbing yosuke of his wind utility, give him better buffing/healing to make use of his speed stat. Chie to needs a bit more bulk to compete with kanjis usefulness. Teddies kamui miracle needs to less useless, they’re is next to no reason to use it over just choosing a specific skill he already has, I actively choose not to learn it it’s that bad, making it more of a “random high strength attack/buff” with a low chance to give a negative effect would give it better utility). Yukiko is perfect tho don’t change her
- background references - idk I think it’d be funny to see sho from p4a lurking around in the background
The UI definitely needs an update, by todays Persona Standard it’s very bland. You can still have a TV style just with Yu transitioning between the different channels.
I think the boss fights are perfectly fine too, I don’t think the Kubo fight was hard I got done with it quick. Also a 1v1 with Adachi goes against the friendship message. Yu is where he is because of his friends while Adachi is where he’s at because of him pushing everyone away. The music is fine I don’t think each boss needs their own theme the boss theme they have is fine just needs to be updated.
Main things Persona 4 remake would really need is just battle QOL, introducing baton pass into the game as well as making dungeons less boring. Nothing wrong with how they are built but having more things to do other than just find the stairs and continue would make them more fun. I don’t think Thergy in the game would fit since they already have their own version of Showtimes with duo attacks and the bike attacks, there’s also just no easy way to implement that kind of mechanics easily in lore since they just take a bunch of random shit into the dungeons and beat up shadows with stop signs, chairs, fans, baseball bats. Just rebalance the party members, baton pass and more modern graphics and animations to make those signature attacks, duo attacked and bike attacks much cooler

If there’s one thing I’d absolutely want in a P4 remake if they do make it, it’s a femc route. You know Atlus will probably never let us be gay for the male characters lol so the closest we could get is with a femc. It’s a lot more work for them, but if the fanbase demanded it enough, I’m sure they’d listen, that’s really the only reason I’d even justify it getting a remake, to give us something new, because honestly the base P4G is already good as is.

I would love to see the whole SMT IV Apocalypse thing with the name brought back, only this time done properly, I don't think they could do it that exact way (pretty much in Apocalypse you're given the chance to name your character once you get your phone, canon name "Nanashi" is already there, but you get another chance to rename him later) but I think they could do it if they wanted to, none of this "Leader", "Nanashi", etc, just say his name

Honestly, the reason I think why P4 doesn't need a Remake as badly as P3 did was because unlike P3, P4 didn't aged badly Gameplay-wise or had a version with QoL improvements and extra additions but was downgraded due to the hardware it was originally released. Fans were split because no one could agree on whatever FES or Portable was the best way to play P3, I honestly think picking between them was more like picking which poison will hurt your experience less; Good Cutscenes and Good Graphics (for the time), but horrible, badly aged Gameplay or Improved Gameplay with QoL Improvements and new stuff, but everything else is Drowngraded.
I have to say that after playing P3 Reload, I agree that a P4 Rerun (a more fitting name if you ask me) would be really cool, but it's not a priority as P4G is good as it is
They really need to focus more on Persona 1 and 2 as they are in DESPERATE need of a remake. Even after that I would much rather have them focus on Persona 7 (if 6 is already out) than a P4 Remake.

But like, every game has had straight romances all the time, and a lot of weird ones, like Kawakami's in Persona 5. But then just ADDING a healthy romance between a guy and another guy of his age, who is already a very close friend, is not okay? And a little change I'd like a remake to have is on Naoto. Not make her transgender, since that'd be a pretty huge change that I understand why a lot of people wouldn't like. But make it less... Weird? Like make her accept herself as a girl, but not having to force herself to be feminine just to make people happy, and let her be masculine for the rest of the story even if she's still a cis girl. I found it a bit weird how at first she really wants to be perceived as masculine and then it's like "Hey, wanna goon to Naoto now that you know she's a girl????"

Like u said about Adachi, though personally, I would still want to bring in my teammates, maybe Atlus can do what they already did with Shido's fight in P5R, where in his last phase, he gets rid of all ur teammates & Joker fights him alone, in which is not too hard to imagine Adachi doing the same, leaving behind Yu & Rise (as a support) to fight him.
2. For Marie, I agree that maybe Atlus should do more to make Marie part of the story of P4, like they did with Kasumi/Sumire in P5R, by adding her in parts of the P5 story, like when u encounter Kasumi/Sumire talking to Kamoshida in school, during the Hawaii trip (though personally, I would like to be able to hang out with her on the beach) & the school dance (there was even a cutscene for Kasumi/Sumire dancing), maybe they could include actual scenes from P4GA (provided u reach a minimum rank in Marie's SL).
3. For the Social Links (SLs), maybe Dojima & Nanako should be 1 SL instead of 2 separate SLs (they're basically inseparable, so 2 separate SLs for them make no sense, besides SLs can have multiple people like Kou/Daisuke in Strength), or better yet give their SLs to someone else (like I propose Aika Nakamura for Hierophant & Taro Namatame for Justice). While on the topic on SLs, I feel that if a SL rank event involves other SL characters (like Rank 2-7 of Marie's SL), that other SL character should also get SL points (provided u choose the right dialogue option when talking to them). For the Summer festival at the Shrine, I believe they should lower the rank requirements for Chie, Yukiko & Ai Ebihara, as I couldn't get Chie & Yukiko (despite having them at Rank 4 & 5 at that point) while Rise is available on Rank 1 or 2 (mind you, I'm on NG+), like the rank requirements for Hawaii dates in P5R weren't as stringent (prolly also cuz it's later on in the game as compared to P4G).
4. Make Junes a place to buy items (I mean it's literally a supermarket, and I can't buy cat food to feed the cat), and as a bonus, allow us to work part-time there (besides when Yosuke asks u to work there). If u work at Junes, u can randomly meet any 1 of ur SL characters and gain SL points like if u work at the convenience store & florist in P5R.
5. For the Dungeon gameplay, the #1 thing that needs changing are the Golden Hands (those things are annoying AF!!!), they should wait at least 3 turns before escaping, also if they're down and ur nearby, there should be a command (like triangle for PS4) to home in on them to start the fight (especially would help if there's a treasure box nearby and u DON'T wanna open it as it might have a shadow inside). Maybe bring back the random cash found in treasure boxes like in P3P, cuz the cash dropping in P4G is just terrible (on Normal difficulty, I can go through every revisitable dungeon except Marie's and will only have 1.5 million Yen to carry over to NG+, which depletes in just a few monts).
6. Especially NG+ should have some changes, most notably being able to carry weapons, accessories & items over, instead of having to buy them again from Daidara, or farming the Reaper
Skimmed through it (i'm not finished with Persona 5 Royal) but i agree with a lot of what you said. You went WAYYYY more in depth than what i did. I was mainly just trying to graze the surface of what could be changed, most of it being changed to small things and all of that. I like all the things that you mentioned.
Also, considering that the cash & XP drops on Hard & Very Hard (Risky in Vanilla P4) are just bad, maybe another thing that can balance it out will be to have Golden Hands drop more on harder difficulties (like 250k-500k Yen per hand defeated on Very Hard), cuz otherwise the only way to increase cash drops is to set the difficulty to Very Easy.
Another good idea would be if the Fox (Hermit) SL provides additional benefits for dungeon exploring (perhaps even work like Jose from P5R), like cash multipliers & increased chances of finding Golden Hands (I mean, it's a magical fox, so why not). Also, in terms of SLs, I believe some of the SLs (most notably Naoto, Yukiko & maybe Yosuke) can also be done at night as there are simply too many to fulfill during the day and too few SLs at night, like especially Naoto's SL (Fortune) can be designed like Adachi's SL (Jester/Hunger), where some events happen during the day, and others at night. Kou/Daisuke (Strength) and Yumi/Ayane (Sun) SLs in my opinion, should also be available on holidays (only restriction being that they have to be the same days as normal school days) where you can go to Yaso High and select which school club to attend at the gate, and this might be controversial, but I feel Ai's SL (Moon) should be available during non-school days, with Ai Ebihara available to hangout in front of the clothing store at Okina City on non-school days.
1 more thing that I believe should be changed is the fact that Christmas Eve dates require defeating Adachi & Ameno Sagiri by 12/22, which in my opinion is too strict, should make the girls call u on morning of 12/24 instead of 12/23 (as if u defeat Adachi & Ameno Sagiri on 12/23, u will automatically skip over to 12/25 after the fight). I mean even P5R doesn't do this, as the romance options will automatically contact u once u defeated Yaldabaouth. Do the same for P4G pls!
