Feeling a bit envious of you, Honda AUS have dropped the jazz which is a shame as this new model is way better than yaris or mazda2. Great review again mate, I really enjoy your work
I bought one of these today. Test drove Yaris Cross,CHR etc but this just blew me away. Only reason I can think of for them not bringing them in is they'll steal market from other Honda models
Some clarification on the "eCVT" transmission in the hybrid version: When you boot it and it sounds like it's going through the gears, and in around-town driving when the battery needs charging, the engine will run but is only directly connected to the motor/generator, which in turn provides electrical power (via the inverter) to help drive the primary electric motor, and to top up the battery; the going through the gears sound is just there to sound familiar and "sporty." Over around 100 km/h the engine also runs (always connected to the the motor/generator) but now disengages a clutch to directly engage the final drive, and the wheels, via an overdrive gear. So in summary: There are no belts and cones and hydraulics in the classical variable ratio CVT sense. The primary electric motor is directly connected to the final drive and always runs, the motor/generator is directly connected to the engine - and runs with the engine to help drive the primary electric motor, and to top up the battery; and the engine is only ever connected to the final drive when cruising. How about reverse? The primary electric motor simply runs backwards.
Thanks for this, however you are talking about the European market car. Our NZDM models use a totally different drivetrain that is more in line with the 9th gen accord hybrid, rather than the i-mmd drive of the crv hybrid you're talking about here
@@ilko625 do you live in new Zealand and have you driven the jazz from our market? Clearly not. I literally work at Honda selling these cars so please don't challenge me. Just because it has the same badge does not mean it's the same car. Like the ep3, jdm type r and ukdm type r had totally different engines, still called a type r
Yeah with the rebate scheme now absolutely... crosstar will probably disappear from the market in due course coz it doesn't have a rebate but the others do for some reason
I want the off road concept of the Crosstar they showed off brought to the USA, but add a all wheel drive system that's just like the one in the Jeep Renegade trailhawk.
Congrats, excellent video! If you get out of the Jazz and noticed that one or windows are not closed, can you do it from the outside, without getting into the car?
Hey with your time at Honda I'm curious what you think of the handling between all the different generations of Honda Jazz/Fit when pushed. Id be interested in your comparisons
2nd gen sport with 1.5 and 5at is still my favourite. Best sounding engine too. But objectively as a driver's car, the 3rd gen facelift RS with the 6mt is the best. Engine doesn't sound too great, but it looks the best, has the best features and is actually genuinely quick
@@KiwiCarLife probably referring to the moose test, it fails before 80km which performed exceptionally comparing to other vehicles. Toyota is notorious for failing moose tests on their modern vehicles in normal road speed, most notably the RAV4.
Mate, going back to the accord 6 speed trans mod. How much did it cost you to source and replace the gearset on your CL9? I drool over your CL9... Cheers!
Why not test drive the GP5 hybrid version and compare? You can test mine. Also, how about the new yaris hybrid ZR and compare it with the new jazz hybrid?

Yep, same scenario in the Philippines. City hatchback now; decent but slightly worse proposition than the Jazz perhaps.

pretty impressive how fast the e:HEV lux is. Also, the CVT simulated gear changes are much more inspiring on the hybrid as opposed to the JAZZ Life.
Yeah for sure
Just about to Purchase my First Car a Jazz eHEV Lux up in Auckland, Excited!
Nice! That's a pretty fancy first car
Finally I found somebody tell me I can drive without hand with cruise control. I did tried it earlier, I thought I was wrong..thanks mate.
All good

Excellent review, we drove the Luxe Hybrid last week and was super impressed, now crunching numbers to see if we can upgrade our gen 3 RS.
Nice man! Would recommend
Great intro to these three cars, thanks! Subscribed :)
Cheers man!
Good review. With rebate in NZ of 4.2k you kinda get the Lux for free over other models

I like the old Jazz but the new one looks great as well!
Yeah agree
Loving your videos, editing and all your work keep it up mate
Cheers man
I think the old looks better. But that was a good style era. The accord back then look unique too.
True
Great video! Which NZ Hondas are made in Japan? All? Unlike Aus where all bar Odyssey and CTR are Thai built.
Odyssey and Jazz are Japanese built, Type R is UK built, Civic, CR-V and HR-V are Thai built.
Great vid as always. Will there be a Jazz RS MT or has Honda completed axed the MT for NZ?
Cheers, no manual this time. I'm secretly holding out for a 1.5T Jazz Type R!
@@KiwiCarLife honda completey ditched the manual on the Jazz/Fit for all markets
instead they have the manual City hatchback in some markets instead
My guy, your videos are fire. Keep it up, bro!

Man I would love a crz style manual hybrid jazz type S with slightly stiffer and more focused suspension.
That would be cool
they made one if you weren't aware alreadyh- GE8 Hybrid RS 6mt (crz drivetrain+trans in a lighter package)
I prefer the looks of the 2018 Jazz. Great car for the missus.

The Previous generation Jazz RS is far quicker than you stated. In two seperate tests NZ Autocar have recorded an 8.85 & 8.99 0-100kph time.
Thats the manual one. I timed the manual one in 9.0s. Cvt is over 10
