I've read a lot of peoples' comments and they all say what I was going to say. You two are amazing, very smart, creative and industrious, as well as so smart with your money. How you did what you did for the $8K is unbelievable. You get an A+ in my books. And besides all that, it is so obvious that you were raised right and that you totally respect each other. That will go a long ways in your marriage. SO glad I saw your video!
RUclips is your friend and experience is your next friend! Mistakes are the signposts of your goal of excellence! I really like your vision and your passion for bus life!! 🎉
First time I laughed out loud watching these videos which I discovered a few days ago. I love this couple. Can mixture them old together in rocking chairs. So down to earth. Thank you for helping me relax. I am moving from 900 sq ft two bedroom Apt to a studio in two weeks. Always figured my four kids would have to dismantle this place. I have crates and bags everywhere. They did a great job in six months. Stay as lighthearted as you appear today. Thank you for all the smiles.
For the fridge I've used child locks made for the fridge and it works like a dream! So much so that we use them in other places around the house, too, and we don't have kids. It just works!
This is perfect.. Perfect sense the cost was 8k TOTAL. and the couple are very much your every day couple trying things for the 1st time.. I love it guys. keep it up.
You’ve done a great job on a shoestring budget. I love how you took your dogs into consideration when designing your home. All the best of luck to both of you and those little furries.
Very cool. I want a skoolie. My suggestions are concerning the dogs. In the bed area you might consider replacing one of the beds with a lower orthopedic bed for your older dog. I lost my old girl a few years ago, but toward the end her big soft bed was hard for her to get out of and having arthritis myself now I can definitely say a firmer mattress causes less pain. I got her a thin memory foam bed and put it beside her big "comfy bed" and she used the thinner one without fail. The other thing is concerning the underbed area. It is awesome and a good idea but you might want to put an emergency exit where you have the laundry basket. A dog size door with wire and a solid door that can be closed over it. You could have better airflow for the dogs if needed, and still close it off to minimize noise. If they are wet or muddy you can load them into their area without them tracking through the house, and in an emergency, you can take them out of their area through the emergency exit.
This is really good! Informative. Lots of clever ideas. I’m sold on the idea of getting rid of my house and moving into a Skoolie. The “garage” idea is brilliant. Lot’s of good ideas in this video so thank you very much for sharing. Also, you seem like a very (enviable…) sympatico couple.
With the open cabinets, build a door with repurposed wood and chicken wire. Got a tree with short limbs, to put your hats. All looks sook good . Keep,up the good work and congrats on you new marriage. Be safe, be blessed and be healthy.
I think you guys did just wonderful and you kept your cost down looks pretty cool! It's so good that you're making so much power and once you get your inverter changed to more powerful, the only other thing I really think you guys should get is an air conditioner! possibly a generator I don't know if you need the generator but that'll be one way to keep the dogs cool and you guys too cuz it is going to get too hot in the Summers. Take care and be safe!
Another awesome video. Getting so many good ideas from all these great people. I especially like to see the younger couples doing these projects together.
Love 💓 your ingenuity and determination! You are both so Real and down to earth. Beautiful home ❤️ love the dog kennel under the bed. I love my dogs too, can't leave them behind
You guys have done a fantastic job on your home. I can tell much of it was thought out before doing. You did mention that. I am so impressed. Stay safe out there. Love your attention to your fur babies.
It is awesome that they took their can do attitude, Google and RUclips and built this awesome home. Every single thing they touch in their home has a special memory to them. That is very cool.
You guys did really awesome! I’m in the beginning parts of my Conversion. Trying not to get overwhelmed bc I’m doing it alone as a single parent. However, I want it so I’m doing it 😜
@@paulacannon3452 A double decker bus conversion? Alone? No Idea what you're doing? Sounds like fun lol. Hopefully you will get it all figured out. I have a short school bus that is close to being finished, what helped me was setting milestones/goals to get things done little by little. It helps motivate you to keep on going. Good luck!
I'm glad other people are doing their conversions solo also lol. I'm looking more and more into it. Really leaning toward skoolie (or even "step-truck") for more storage/kitchen/shower/etc than a tall work van. And even if it's not full on stealth, there are robs of people camping out (even in a huge RV) in Walmart, literally everywhere lol. Good luck guys! 💖💖💖😊😊😊
You can do it...I did. It just takes more time. Visit any Habitat for Humanity ReStore you can find for materials and appliances. My conversion has been on-going for years while I live in it...but thats OK by me.
I really like how you used what you could and how you designed and set it all up for yourselves and the dogs. The barn door install for the bathroom is great with the metal piping.
Great job on the bus... and considering the budget you adhered to... WOW!!!~ ... I really liked the bathroom door idea, but my favorite part is your idea for the hammock... I LOVE the hammock!!~ :-D
Also I was just thinking an inside camera where you can monitor them from your cell phone and see how the dogs are doing, I'm planning to get one of those so I can watch our dogs when we leave for whatever reason. as I have a 40 foot RV and I'm a school bus driver of 22 years!
I LOVE, LOVE the ideas and the repurposing of anything for anything. My style of living too !!! I hate that you've hit, even cut your head hitting that lamp over the sofa. Hopefully you've changed it out to a flat lighting. I listened to the things that caused issues for ya... I'm sure you've figured out solutions by now, but food for thought that I was having while listening is : * For the fridge to not tip over during drives... Brace it in. Even if it's just nailing a board across the top front above the freezer from one side board to the other. A tipping fridge has to be annoying. * Lay the plastic tumbler down on its side that keeps falling off the top storage 👍 * I have too add.... The amount of spices vs the amount of shoes was cute. From me, someone who has been married almost 30 yrs now... that's just one of them things you know just is what it is and learn to let it be, lol. (I love my shoes and hand bags. I understand. My husband is the spice guy. So, we understand 😁) I am loving that garage space !!! For this to be your 1st build, I never would have guessed. There's enough room in there for bicycles... And/or even a Mopad. I watched where a couple had a Mopad so when they are parked, they used the Mopad to travel to nearby places they needed or wanted to go to (not having to always use the bus). I really LOVE the vintage wood you got from your grandmother. Great conversation piece and looks amazing in the bus... And the pallet wood too !! Being this was the 1st bus y'all have built, I sure would love to see y'all repurpose more. Your ideas and ways of being crafty and building LOW cost is inspiring. Maybe finding people who want a Skoolie without building themselves and keeping it low cost is something y'all could get into. In any state, and City, there's always junk yards, Goodwill's, habitat for humanity and people who are building contractors that could hook you up with places to go or people to talk to for wood and/or supplies. Find people who want a Skoolie : Just get an idea of a layout they want and things important to them and a total cost they can afford and begin there. WOW, I love all that kitchen countertop you can have a real kitchen for sure! Cheap fix for your fridge Velcro that sucker shut! I love your home! Ty so much for the tour of ur skoolie and all the info I'm learning so much about everything congratulations on ur marriage and the rest of ur journey good luck to u both
Okay with the 7.3 TURBO altitude is not depriving your engine of oxygen. It's more likely just climbing those hills. But the mileage you stated is pretty darn awesome for that big a rig. My F350 has that motor and gets 12 pulling a 21.5' fifth wheel (7,800 miles, Oregon to Pennsylvania to S Carolina to New Orleans to Kansas City to Oregon). My 40' schoolie (which will replace the F350 and trailer when completed) will make me happy with 8mpg at 31,800 GVWR
Leslie O'Brien yea we have met a lot of other tiny homes on the road and a lot of them also have the same flooring! Can’t beat the real look of wood for a cheap price!
You might consider trading (if possible, maybe through Craig's list) your refrigerator for a trucker's freezer. You can put your milk, etc., on the top layer to prevent freezing. On the coldest night's, you could turn it off to save on electricity. Also, it might be quieter turned off over night. Some people (living off the grid) use this type of freezer more as a refrigerator. They can adjust the freezer setting to the lowest number to use more as a refrigerator. Also, it would be easier to strap in, or build a frame around, so it would stay still when you have to slam on the breaks. Your dogs might like Milk Bone Dog Buscuits, both the 'old fashioned' and the new recipe called 'dental chews.' Maybe if you type in your P.O. Box, someone nice (a shout out to philanthropists out there) will mail you boxes for your three dogs. It is tough to find dog food that they will like. The company 'royal canin' has breed specific canned wet food. My dogs will eat it and no other brand. I hope you have a big bowl of water for the older one, he looks really hot. The channel 'RV Lifestyle' interviewed the co owner of the company 'nomoredirtywater.com' about a small water cleaner using ozone. He says it can clean almost any water, especially for RV water storage tanks that can grow mold. He believes all camp ground water is not trustworthy, even most homes and apartments could benefit from this ozone machine, water cleaner. He says it makes water taste and smell better too. He and his co owner want to sell about 7 billion machines at the lowest price possible. They designed it to be small and lightweight, about 30 pounds and about 20 by 20 inches. I like the sign on your bus promoting solar panels. No offense, but all the art work kind of distracts from that. Maybe you could own and operate a gallery/cafe/laudromat that is all dog friendly and devoted to people on the road. You could also show films from an old fashioned class room screen (to save on space, one that can easily slide up and down in a small space). You could serve popcorn to attract customers. You might duplicate this gallery/cafe/laundromat in every city you stop in and make it a 'co-op' with as many other people as possible (locals) helping to pay the bills. You might get parents and teenagers to use it as an after school meeting place for book clubs, home work tutoring, watching movies together on Friday and Saturday night. Space on shelves could be reserved for 'second hand books for sale' as a fundraiser. Check out the channel of a Mississippi retired dog catcher that swears by 'BARF' Biologically Appropriate Raw Food, talapia frozen fish. It breeds quickly and will help save tuna and salmon, dolphins and whales, from going extinct. The talapia must be frozen at least three weeks to kill any possible worms. He thinks that dogs and cats eating the entire talapia, bones and all, keep their digestion process healthier than commercial pet food, especially in older dogs and cats. Ideally, every household should copy this process; sell or donate the talapia fish they don't use. For example, they could donate to all the local food banks and animal shelters, and similar pet rescue organizations. Dedicated chefs could sell 'fish and chips' in cafes, restaurants, or food trucks. All the above are ideas for everyone living on the road, or off the grid. P.S. Those bones might be freaking out your dogs. They would probably rather be looking at photos of themselves. August 20, 2018
A lot of people paint their internet info on the outside of their bus. Some people use paracord rather than bungee cord. My folks used bungees. My dad put a nail on a chain and a hole in the top of the fridge door and would put the nail the hole to keep the door closed. I think he just had the chained to the side of the fridge.
Now I'm inspired! I'd all but given up on this dream...I've had it for 3 years...fixed income is the obstacle. Where would someone like me start? Thanks and blessings from Indiana!
Next time your in a Walmart go to the baby safety section an grab to refrigerator clips and it will keep the fridge closed. They are white and by Safety First. And they have sticky to attach to the doors...they are amazing mommy of four...
I wonder if they thought about going to the Dollar Store and picking up some little storage bins plastic ones or cloth ones or baskets to put the stuff on the shelves in....? I imagine that could be a simple economical fix since the Shelf already has that little lip on it to keep those baskets or bins in place also the fridge it seems like probably pretty inexpensive land simply they could come up with a wax so that the door doesn't open no matter how full it is... just a thought :) good luck! thanks for sharing!
You can use a clamp or baby protection clamps on the refrigerator...Love the dog hideaway under the bed...Glad you kept it simple...is the bus really hot w/o the ceiling being done? All that medal just made me sweat...LOL
Wow! Great job and congrats on your wedding! Dude , where did you find the slevveless T-shirt with a pocket???? I can't hardly find regular Ts with a pocket
Thank you so much Tiny Home Tours for making such an amazing bus tour for our bus! We love sharing what we have created and hope everyone enjoys the tour and possibly gets inspired to create their own tiny home!
You guys did a great job! Can't believe you have a regular fridge in there! I love how you came up with cheaper or easier solutions to problems and, of course, the care and thoughtfulness for your pet's comfort. ❤🐕
So glad I didn't have to read to far in B4 finding exactly the post to reply on to give my 2cents on what I wanted to: So child locks are probably the easiest &/or cheapest to lock anything!
just reading down a little more I know now that i'm kind of repeating some other replys all though like I stated in my reply post: U can use the child locks for many of different thangs not only your FridgeRator. & they aren't the same design for each individual appliance!
Buy the pex crimp tool on Amazon $20.dollars. You will pay a plumber 50 times that to do something a smart "box of rocks" could do. Don't worry about the fire and the painting ...if it gets scorched it might make it look better... (there I said it. I know the rest of ya'll were thinking that too.) I love the very basic skills that were needed to make this conversion. It helps me know I could do this. This couple is too cool.
Awesome job guys! I do want to comment about the spider that was crawling across the circuit box when you were showing the garage area! I'd have been out of that area in a second flat! Lol
Love to see how much you'll change up and Create in a year! You've done an Awesome job, stayed simple.....best of luck to you on your Life Adventure! Create YOUR MAGIC! LIVE..LOVE....LAUGH! LOVE that your Fur babies are there to share it!
Nothing free about being sponsored. They send 100s of emails trying to get sponsored. They turned their bus into a billboard on wheels and drive all over the place on their own dime attending conventions as per the sponsorship agreement. I'd rather pay the $5000 out of pocket than having to deal with all that. Or you know, get a $300 genie at harbour freight and call it good.
@@pauluminous 100 emails isnt anything, there are people who have to do that in a week at their job. And it's fairly easy to plan your trips around the scheduled conventions and sponsorship events, just provides structure to a trip they're taking anyway.
@@chavvy9074 Not sure what you're trying to accomplish with your comment. You just elaborated that sponsorship requires effort, compared it to a job and therefor it ain't free money. Btw, driving half way across the country in a skoolie because your sponsor requires you to be at a specific event is not an easy feat nor is it cheap.
@@pauluminous I'm simply saying that what seems like a lot of work to you is worth it to some people. You wouldnt be excited about it but they would be. It's all subjective.
If you ever want to change the speed on the governor you just find a shop that deals with Internationals and also you might want to look into getting a 6-speed transmission
Put a round key ring on the cabinet door then put a tea cup hook up on the roof so you can hook the door open you just hook the ring on the hook and your all good to put your clothing up with no problem
you can put a padlock on fridge door, that way you can just slip a lock into padlock and not lock it. We have several fridges at work that had padlocks on them.

Gutter seal is the best sealant ever, used on gutters and can be applied in and on wet surfaces.Once it is set it is set forever.
You guys did good. With electrical I would go with a pure sine wave......3 to 5KWatts! I like you build!
Young man, you have done an amazing job! All the best to both of you.
Your floor is cool. We put that in our Class C. Looks like wood. Most people don’t know it’s vinyl.
Leslie O'Brien yea we have met a lot of other tiny homes on the road and a lot of them also have the same flooring! Can’t beat the real look of wood for a cheap price!
Suggestion: flip the lantern upside down. Save your head.
ordinary childproof locks can be used on your fridge. they're inexpensive and other rv skoolie folks use them... fridge, cabinets...
Like your home,,, easy to move around and don't put so many things that makes you tired to clean up ....
I find them really relatable. 😊
Nice job thanks for the tour
I like what you did for your dogs under the bed
Nice use of reclaimed materials
Bungie the refidge door.... Great home.. enjoy.... Just think u can scramble eggs.. LOL have fun...
Next time your in a Walmart go to the baby safety section an grab to refrigerator clips and it will keep the fridge closed. They are white and by Safety First. And they have sticky to attach to the doors...they are amazing mommy of four...
Baby lock will solve that refrigerator problem!
What a sweet cute couple ! Just love this video !
Wow! Great job and congrats on your wedding! Dude , where did you find the slevveless T-shirt with a pocket???? I can't hardly find regular Ts with a pocket
Love the build...however. My fav part is when he turned around to lift the senior pup onto the couch.
Hi. I love your home it is so beautiful
Octavia Barbour thank you so much!
Yep. As other said. Lock up those fridge doors. Plenty of solutions on YT.
So glad I didn't have to read to far in B4 finding exactly the post to reply on to give my 2cents on what I wanted to:
So child locks are probably the easiest &/or cheapest to lock anything!
just reading down a little more I know now that i'm kind of repeating some other replys all though like I stated in my reply post: U can use the child locks for many of different thangs not only your FridgeRator. & they aren't the same design for each individual appliance!
Put something across the fridge, an idea would be to have a strapping system that is actually anchored to the wall behind it
Check out some of the cabinet spring hinges, they're pretty cool
Try child locks on your fridge, super simple and cheap and safer than everything flying out!
Put some Velcro self adhesive on the outside of your fridge and door and use the secure strip when moving.
Buy the pex crimp tool on Amazon $20.dollars. You will pay a plumber 50 times that to do something a smart "box of rocks" could do. Don't worry about the fire and the painting ...if it gets scorched it might make it look better... (there I said it. I know the rest of ya'll were thinking that too.)
I love the very basic skills that were needed to make this conversion. It helps me know I could do this. This couple is too cool.
Awesome job guys!
I do want to comment about the spider that was crawling across the circuit box when you were showing the garage area! I'd have been out of that area in a second flat! Lol
Wow!!!!!❤️❤️❤️Thank you for sharing this❤️❤️❤️
When mounting a mirror use mirror mastic . It won’t ruin the mirror with black lines like liquid nails does .🙂
Love to see how much you'll change up and Create in a year! You've done an Awesome job, stayed simple.....best of luck to you on your Life Adventure! Create YOUR MAGIC! LIVE..LOVE....LAUGH!
LOVE that your Fur babies are there to share it!
When your $5000+ solar set-up is free $8000 all in is very possible.
@She Wolf noshit. this video IS way too long. should be like five or ten minutes, they just keep talking and no showing
Forest Kiser? Yo bro! We went to school together 😎 I heard about your bus but hadn't seen a video on it, congrats on the marriage man 🤙
If you ever want to change the speed on the governor you just find a shop that deals with Internationals and also you might want to look into getting a 6-speed transmission
Baby proofing cabinet straps might help the fridge from opening
The big thing as a bus driver is the body / head movement the smoother that drive the the smoother the test no head jerk the better in an automatic.
Put a round key ring on the cabinet door then put a tea cup hook up on the roof so you can hook the door open you just hook the ring on the hook and your all good to put your clothing up with no problem
You can get locks to put on your frig. Just ask at Lowe’s or Menards.
you can put a padlock on fridge door, that way you can just slip a lock into padlock and not lock it. We have several fridges at work that had padlocks on them.
Counter tops are really nice
Spices vs shoes! I chuckled out loud!
