I have a very simple card display rack thing I built. It’s a super easy way to display 80-100 cars, so I tend to leave a bunch on card. I need to make a thing to display a couple of hundred cars unboxed 😃
I'm an "Open" collector, too. In fact, I like to make at least 1 run down the track with each car. I do have a few cars still in the card but I like to "feel" the cars. My preference is '55-'72 Chevys and Station Wagons. I do have Exotics, JDMs, Beetles and Rallye cars. I've collected off and on since I was a teenager. I usually stay with Mainlines.
back then i always opened every car i got and i realized i lost a ton of value (i opened very rare ones too) and now i always keep them in the box. I have been collecting ever since i was 4 lol
Good points. I say just open what you like, regardless of price..... 👍 Just remember not to confuse "popular" and "not being able to find a particular car" with that particular car being "rare." Just because you can't find something, or only found one, doesn't make it rare.....
Good insight…I talk a lot about values and such too. One thing I’ve learned is that the market changes a lot. You may open something today and it’ll skyrocket in value tomorrow. But at the end of the day it’s all for fun. In fact I just opened an ek9 super the other week 😅😱
I tend to open if the card or box isn’t great or I have multiple. I sold the 3 yellow Civics I found cheap enough, not my cup of tea. I picked up 4 of the same premium display set as you, 1 full price, 1 reduced as the Koenigsegg was liberated from the pack and 2 on clearance, freed the set missing the Koenigsegg and sold 1 of the clearance sets to a fellow collector at cost (we try to look after each other). Unfortunately here in Ireland you aren’t going to make much money selling Hot Wheels, I’m just happy moving the odd few on or making a trade.
Currently I have a lot of premium cars and one treasure hunt! Premiums: McLaren Senna, McLaren 720S, Lykan Hypersport, Ford F-150 Pickup (not considered a premium but it kinda is), and a Milky Way™ Bread Box™ My only treasure hunt: Loop Coupe (2012 or 2013) (Sadly opened since I opened it long before I knew that it was rare)
I pretty much only buy the Volkswagens, and I think I keep mine in the boxes to keep them from getting beat up. I didn't know anything about TH or STH until yesterday... from this channel. Some of this stuff is crazy!!!
Ony thing I don't open are First editions from 90's up to 2010'. Unless I have another one. Anything else from 2010 up I'll open, but I keep the blisters and keep them in a box as newer models come out. The value thing isn't important to me as I don't plan on selling ever. I like to think as my collection as thier final "home"
@@toejam503 hi. Just to inform you but you can tell what number the car is by a little print that states the cars number. This is found under the flap that is there to make opening the pack easier
I don’t understand this new trend of trying to say TH and STH aren’t mainlines. If they aren’t in the main line of basic cars then what line are they from? Because they’re not in their own specific set/line of cars. They’re simply a mainline variant. I understand that hotwheels releases the full collection of supers at the end of the year but it’s still not segregated and labeled as a different set. It’s not even a sub set within all the cars released for the year.
Open them all don’t be like other idiots on other channels that “don’t do it for the money” but ALL they grab is the SUPER TREASURE HUNTS, Zamacs and chase pieces, but claim it’s supposedly “not about the money” it rare if they buy anything, non chase or STH but they also do small customs but mainly go for chases and STH Just do what makes YOU happy!!!

I open everything. The day I start collecting because of value over the fun then I need to stop.
Exactly. It's better to open any toy you get as opposed to keeping it closed and letting it collect dust

100%. I will probably never sell my collection so what difference does it make to opening or not
Same
So if you had a hot Wheels worth a hundred million dollars you'd play with it and not sell?

dang.. i opened about 30 cases in 2022 but no supers :/
If it's a diecast that I like I may just buy 2 or 3. One for my son, one for my shelf, and one to go into a
Great video and great insight. Just subbed. Thank you and I look forward to watching more of your videos.

The Bugatti chiron premium car that's in the box set also came out in 2021 exotic envy

What are your thoughts on the mystery bags? Particularly the top 3
id never buy them but thats just my opinion
My wife buys mystery packs for me at times. I only buy them if I can figure out what's in them, like the lime green Merc "Purple Passion"
@@toejam503 nice! i like the kombi the best

Hi, what do you mean by "H Case" I'm new to the Hot Wheels collecting hobby so any explanation on this would be great. Awesome channel too 👍
It is very hard to explain in text. Here would be the best thing I could do. ruclips.net/video/B5xwsnVOXlw/видео.html

Don’t forget that we collect cars not cardboard

First you have to find hot wheels worth buying, they make a lot of junk
