1987:Goofy Campy and Family Friendly 2003: Action Packed and Badass 2012:Story Driven and Heart Felt 2018: Action and Comedy 1984: Darker Grittier More Violent
Rise of the TMNT: Way more comedy than Teen Titans Go but with some action. TMNT 2012: A mix of fun and lighthearted moments. Yet they can be very edgy at times TMNT 2003: We're more edgy, but we give a little fun TMNT 1987: Cowabunga dudes! Let's get some pizza! TMNT 1984: Dark, gritty. You're about to get murdered.
I'd imagine it as a mini-series based solely on issue 1 where they orchestrate a plan to lure out Shredder over the course of a single season, like how the original was supposed to be a one-shot installment. Maybe find a way to fit April in there somehow but carefully so she doesn't feel like it was a studio requirement. It'd have Genndy Tartakovsky's direction of long stretches of silence and/or build up, making violent action scenes less like "scenes" and more like events. I wouldn't want them to go too dark so the turtles brotherhood and good nature would be on full display but with little to no quips while in combat to illustrate the stakes and how seriously they take their job. No overt fanservice or sexyness. No relying on vulgar humor or language (though a dark/racy joke or swear may come once in a while) and when the fighting happens there's no holding back. Heads rolling, arms and legs sliced off like hot butter. Just straight ninja badassery! I'd have it in black and white with the only colors being blood and their masks.
15:17 “Oroku Saki, also known as the Shredder, you have shamed and dishonored the name of your family by murdering Hamato Yoshi. I give you the chance to regain your honor. Meet my four students for a duel to the death tomorrow night at the following address: 15th Street.”
@drks650 yeah man I know. I guess I just worded that weirdly. The 2003 series matches the 1984 comic the best out of all the series and movies (in my opinion)
"We are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We strike hard and fade away... ...into the night." Best TMNT line ever. Nice job on the motion comic too, I think Eastman and Laird would both be proud.
@@Scott86 No problem man. Believe me, according to what I've heard about Eastman and Laird, it means a lot to them that we have been enjoying their work almost thirty six years now. The turtles have come a long way from being a humble, black and white independent comic book. Blood dealt in three minutes. How the hell did this turn into a kids show. It's like if Rambo blew away half a country then did a PSA announcement about hurting people.
When the comic became very popular the writers and creators branched out so when the TV companies wants to adapt it seeing how the comic was they wanted to cater it more the kids and to fill toys and merchandise and thus the show was born
@@jmb72390 It was all about the toys. Looking back they had Robocop who was blown to a torso and the Toxic Avenger, which much like a scene in Robocop got physically mutated by toxic waste. It's all about money. I tend to forget sometimes how hard and real the old days were.

I liked in the movie though how Splinter jumped at the Shredder/Saki clawing deep into his cheek, Saki threw Splinter off onto the floor and took a swipe at Splinter, slicing off the top of one of his ears. If they had thought of that earlier, Splinter might have said, "I tried to avenge my master and his wife's deaths. I jumped at the Shredder knocking off his mask and clawed deep into his right cheek. He threw me to the floor and in his angry rage, he took a swipe at me with his blades. I jumped out of the way and out the window. But I didn't avoid him completely. His swipe had sliced off the top of my right ear. (showing Shredder's bleeding cheek and Splinter's bleeding ear) The Shredder and I had left our marks on each other."
@JakeyStar 2020! It was as close as they could get. It would be badass if they did that this era just bring it to real life with more creative practical effects and not just CGI. The CGI kills most movies like that, not computer blood

Happy 40th anniversary to TMNT. That's right. May 5th 1984 was the day we met the heroes in a half shell.
They should make a TV-MA rated TMNT show based on the original comic
Adult swim is a perfect place to air that version.
