It's 1992, we're in the second year of our run on Broadway of The Will Rogers Follies, and ticket sales are droopy. Our producers decide to "stunt cast" Donald Trump's new girlfriend Marla Maples in in the role of “Ziegfeld's Favorite” and our ticket sales explode. Along with all this attention comes more attention, as the press and Trump feed off each other to the point of exhaustion. We were the center of tabloid NYC for a few months - which included phone calls to many of us cast member from reporters hoping to get some gossip, a crowded stage door at the end of each show, and a sleazy real estate guy lurking backstage, seemingly always near the women's chorus dressing room. If you watch the video til the end, you'll see the flag Jerry Mitchell and I (and so many others) have been waving for the past 28 years.
