No one would ever convince me that this is worth the asking price. For that amount of money you could get a CX-60 3.3L, which in my case is a way better option.
The mazda is a much much better proposition..

We have a 20 year old CRV and it is still very reliable and good. The only disappointment for the price in the new one is the engine capacity. The new Mazda CX-60 is a better buy but we will be uprgrading to a Subaru Outback which is far more capable than anything in the price category.
I would opt for the tiggo 8 pro max .

I’m interested in how these units will sell. As you mentioned, not everyone is a petrol head and it might be appealing to married folk with children. To be honest, Hondas are reliable!
Btw, an AWD system and a 2l engine paired to a ZF gearbox, would have justified the price 😅
It's weird, but cars look so much better here in South Africa than if they were in other countries like the US, UK, AUS or NZ 🙈

You can pick up a CX60 3.3 for R900k almost new.
You’d have to really want those extra 2 seats to take the Honda.
To make this a real value option they need to bump the engine or drop the price or both.
This would be great at, maybe R800 000. Even that would be a stretch. It's simply not worth the asking price. Unless you're one of the 20 remaining Honda die-hard-at-any-price fans. Considering what the nearly equally priced Mazda CX-60 offers. This is dead in the water. The Chinese offerings are also well worth a treat drive.
RIP Honda CR-V.
When a new model comes out, look at the latest previous model. The last previous model 2024 CR-V is 500K, literally half with full warranty and service plan. No Chinese brands please 🙏

Wouldn’t even pay R650k for it. Buy a used Rav4 or even Fortuner for R400k and keep the change. No Honda other than their supercar should be R1m+

i know Honda makes good durable cars but I am not a fan of their design, plus for that price I think Mazda CX 60 is much better option petrol or diesel

Cherry, Haval, Jaecoo something Chinese 😅 for half the price, never a 1,5 L non hybrid front wheel drive thats R1m with dated tech. I really don't want to keep a car forever.
Yeah that's the thing... not many people want to keep a car forever. Well Maybe Toyota Hilux owners lol.
Lol. Imagine you can get a Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max 2 litre turbo with 187kw and 390nm for R330k less! And you can still by a Tiggo 4 pro with thay change. The Chery is a far better vehicle and way more modern and tech filled. And the Honda's fuel consumption isn't even good. How they could even justify this CRV is beyond me. There's no way they can even spin this. If Honda sells one, it would have to be the world's best salesman or the world's most clueless buyer.

They will probably sell 1 a month if they are lucky.. and in 2 years start offering big discounts, like they doing with the Civic.
No clue what Honda is thinking… their small suv (Elevate) sells for the same price as a premium Chinese SUV, with an ugly blanked out steering wheel with no cruise control?
Or R400k for a Fit? Crazy.

Not worth the price
Honda is an irrelevant brand now. The pricing is just stupid. This car is simply not worth R1m. Not by any stretch of the imagination. There are so much better cars for the price. It's a joke. It won't sell and doesn't deserve to. It isn't R1m good. Not even R800k good.
And in 2 years they will start offering discounts on it… then you definitely cannot sell it as a new one will be cheaper!
