I have mostly wavy, with a few "curls", in my shoulder length hair. I also have issues with frizz. The curl activating products you mentioned - AG Recoil and NYM Curl Activating Mousse - seem to work best for me in giving me definition and taming the frizz. My hair seems to need encouragement with the "activating" ingredient in these products. In trying to find products that work for my hair, I also have accumulated a HUGE arsenal of various cleansers, creams, mousse, gels, etc!
Yes that totally makes sense! Curl activators are great for inconsistent hair patterns! And I feel you on all the products, I think my declutter is going to feel good though lol 😅
My favorite shampoo/condish combos right now are the Curl Smith scalp line… prebiotic primer, wash and scrub detox probiotic, and post biotic calming conditioner. That’s a mouthful but I really do love them.
I've been really loving the Maui Moisture Lightweight Curls + Flaxseed shampoo and conditioner right now. Refreshing spray wasn't bad, but it wasn't my favorite.
I really like the husk curl line shampoo and conditioner! I have never seen any curly hair influencer reviews that I would love to see a review for that curl line it is a very affordable brand that can be shipped around the world! Please look into it I would love to see it on wavy hair!
Kinky Curly custard is not heavy at all on me. I have very fine, wavy hair. I find it to be a moisturizing gel, and I use it as a base layer when layering stylers. Because I layer other things on top of it, I only use a small amount at a time.

It's okay, but I'd take LA looks gel over aussie instant freeze if I am going for a really affordable gel, personally. A lot of people say AIF is really hard hold for them somehow, I've wondered if it acts differently on different hair types or something. Definitely only medium hold for me.
I use the Ouai curl cream, leave in and wave spray because I love the scent, it has to smell good for me to use it…. I want to try JVN cream and L’Oréal curl expression line
I genuinely feel like I am the only person who did not like anything from the curl talk line. I wanted to like it so badly because it works so great for everyone else, but the products made my hair feel waxy and the mouse in particular made my hair feel stingy. I did have pretty damaged hair when I first tried it though so maybe I should try the line again.

I use NYM shampoo. Carols Daughter conditioner ( smells like almonds. I don't like the coconut smell lots of products have) Occasionally use Curlsmith feather lite protein cream. I often use the Blueberry Bliss leave in. I try and avoid both gels and mouse. I do like NYM foam. My hair is very fine and not porous so my hair gets weighed down alot. I've been fighting wavy curly hair my whole life. Now that I want it curly, it's not cooperating. So I gave myself a perm and it helps alot, my hair looks thicker and between wavy and curly.

I still have yet to find a favorite shampoo and conditioner but I like the curlsmith detox kit, that conditioner is bomb (probs my fave). My fave deep conditioner by far is the shea moisture Manuka Honey and Yogurt mask. I have too many products that I try but I always go back to these
My go-to shampoo and conditioner is ALWAYS Paul Mitchell lavender and mint shampoo and conditioner. The hair foam and the gel from that line are pretty awesome as well! 👍 The kinky curly custard is more of a traditional style custard for hair. It can be heavy (because of the oils in it), much like their leave in. It’s a great product, just be careful of the amount you use.
I live Pacifica's Vegan Silk line. I've tired almost all of it and love it! Curl smith Flexi hold is my favorite gel. I love several creams: Ouai, Cake, Kristin Ess, Sun Bum. And Mop Top still makes my favorite leave in 🙂
My favorite shampoos - for light clarifying Shea Moisture Jamaican Black castor oil strengthen and restore Shampoo. There is a small Black owned brand that is wonderful! Nature’s Little Secret. They make a gentle shampoo that I love: Cucumber Nourishing Shampoo. It is great. The best deep conditioner is also from a black owned brand Miche- it’s their Strengthen Protein and Moisture Balance Conditioner. Everything from Miche is excellent.
Twist by ouidad’s conditioner in the white bottle! (Weather defying or something along those lines haha). I really like the ouai detox shampoo for a thorough clean and NYM curl talk shampoo for regular cleanse 😇
It's not heavy and it just melts the knots out of my hair. I find sometimes with conditioner, after I rinse, my hair doesn't feel conditioned. I never feel that way with Moptop. I'm very curious if you do a video with leave ins also.
My favorite stylers are usually a combination of either air dry cream (Curlsmith) or a cream gel (Scrunch It One & Done) and hairspray. Apply cream/gel to wet hair, microplop, plop then hairspray to help cast before diffusing. If I'm looking for a harder hold, i use UFD Curly Magic. As for shampoo/conditioners... it's not specifically a curly brand, but if anyone is looking for a wavy/curly friendly low waste option Ethique Frizz Wrangler shampoo bar and The Guardian conditioner bar are great choices. 👍👍
I personally love the kinky curly come clean shampoo as my clarifying shampoo and the Tyler Christopher coconut curls shampoothie as my everyday shampoo.
