Yeah, that is the thing with curly hair. If I blow dry my hair with the Revlon brush drier when it's damp, it doesn't take that long and it can look good until the next wash, and I typically wash twice a week. If I need to diffuse my hair daily for it to look good curly I can't be bothered, it's too high maintenance.
Having curly hair and learning how to take care of it is definitely a journey. I used to straighten and bleach my hair. Then 1 day I decided to embrace my texture. So I stopped straightening it and bleaching it. The first couple years were rough, cuz my pattern was ruined. I'm 4 yrs in now and my hair is finally healthy and happy. It took me 3 yrs and multiple product fails to find a routine that works for me. And the hair I hated all my life, is now the thing I am most happy with and get the most compliments on. Congrats on finding something that works for you so well.
I was in a similar boat except instead of straightening, I lived in protective styles because I didn't know how to actually get my curls to look good.. I still dye it, it just means I need to use more protein products but I'm okay with that.
@@quintecence I finally colored my hair for the first time this year, but no bleach. I can't really use protein products, my hair is sensitive to protein. I do use bond treatments though.
If you brushed through after putting product in it would seal more hair in so fewer flyaways Also scrunch out the crunch after it’s dry. Means longer hold if there is a cast When separating curls use a lightweight hair oil to minimize frizz formation
Flawless execution! We thank you for rocking your curls with PATTERN & providing such informative feedback. The Styling Custard & Medium conditioner is a great start to healthy & hydrated curls, however! We couldn't help but notice that you were missing one thing....a Shower Brush. It is thee curl magic wand, & provides juicy definition in half the time. So if you're looking for more, we certainly have you covered. 🙌🏽💛
I am 66 years old and have been wearing my hair blown straight my whole life, until this summer. It is hot and humid from June til September here in Toronto. I have been visiting a friend with a beautiful pool all summer and so have, for the very first time, have been letting my hair go curly! I have fine, curly, kinky hair. It is in pretty good shape and long below my shoulders. I discovered Pattern Styling Custard last year. Same deal I spread it on after cleansing, brush through and let it go. No twisting at all. My hair looks great! People do not recognize me. Hair feels soft with NO crispy bits. It stays great for 3 days. Nothing else works like this product! Love it!
Yes embrace those curls! It can be so difficult to find a haircare routine for curly hair that actually works in keeping the curl hydrated and curled. Will definitely check out the products you mentioned. Glad you nailed down your routine and thanks for sharing! Sending love from your hometown 💛
My mom and I picked up the Pattern curl custard after watching your video. I had to come back and thank you for the recommendation. This cream really helped define my waves (though I used a lot less due to my hair type and thickness). Thank you ☺️
I’m so happy to see this styler is silicone free! I love products with flax seed oil, it has that slimy texture that my curls love! I’ve been following the curly girl method for 6 years and my hair has been getting progressively more curly throughout the years.
Embracing my curls is the best thing I did over 10 years ago. The versatility and beauty of them is amazing and I'm so happy I did. Would not have it any other way
I used to blow out my curls all the time but when I started rocking them, I got SO MANY COMPLIMENTS!?! I've only straightened them out once in the past 18 months and I hated how it looked on me. Yay curls!
I love love love your curls!! I might have to grab myself a tub of this Styling Custard. I'll take anything that's one and done product. Also, here's a tip for anyone interested: put a hair oil on your hands while you're separating your curls or zhuzhing your roots, so while you're touching your hair no potential frizz arises. It's better to have hair oil on your hands rather than dry hands touching your curls.
@@barbarar5869 Depends on the type of hair you have. I personally like the Olaplex oil but haven’t used it since I started wearing my hair curly. It’s a nice thin oil that won’t weight down your hair or cause a ton of build up. I recently switched over to the Unite argan oil because it’s sold at the salon I used to work at. It’s a much thicker oil but I think might be better for scrunching out any kind of cast you get from your styling products, the Olaplex can also be used to do this too. I’ve also heard great things about the Curlsmith oils (I use a bunch of curlsmith stylers)
Also if you apply oil to your curls at the end of styling they won’t frizz up when you step outside because the oil will create a barrier around your hair and moisture in the air won’t be able to penetrate.
Ah, I love seeing people embrace thair curls, waves, and coils. Keep rocking them, Jamie, they're gorgeous on you! Reminds me I need to love mine more, too.
LOVE YOUR HAIR! I have been trying to get my curls back and plan to try these products! I would love to see second day curls routine and how you sleep with them and get them back to life. That’s one of my biggest struggles for sure.
These curls are insane. This is the best I think I’ve seen them compared to your other styling options! I gotta get the custard, and embrace the diffuser! ❤️
They look great!! Can I say, I got curly bangs last summer and it was HELL on Earth. They trapped all the heat on my forehead. I'm going to get bangs again, but... in December or so lol.
My curls if I work with them can look pretty similar to yours. Yes I feel like sometimes it’s too much steps and I was getting tired of doing my hair. I have rheumatoid arthritis and one arm can’t reach my head. So my left arm gets very tired after a long routine. I just bought the Pattern Curl Mousse to try out. I’m interested in these products now!
Your hair looks amazing! This product is very interesting! But I wonder if it’s good for air drying curly/wavy hair… 🤔 I usually let my hair air dry when I style it curly (I just can’t be bothered), and I used to love the No Blow Dry cream by Redken, but it’s discontinued 😭 I tried the JVN Air Dry cream and it’s really good!
I have been following you since forever!!! And let me tell you I think you are such a beautiful woman but in this video you wowed me!!! Please do a video on your no makeup makeup look you have on this video!!! You really look so beautiful !!! Your skin looks amazing … Love love you curly hair ! The exact exact same way is how I’ve always done my hair specially when I was younger now many moons later my curly hair has come back with full force! I have been looking for good products to leave my curly hair as is but nothing seems to help! I will definitely try these to see if they will work for my type of curl. Thank you for this in depth explanation of how to do great curls … 🥰😍💝
So glad you found a great product for you! Not a curly girl but still here for the journey ✨️ also I love the chill vibes and subtle background music of this video
I have extremely thick(amount of hair and actual size of hair is extremely thick) I have a whole cabinet of curly hair products and can’t seem to make anything work. My curls range from S waves to tight ringlets under around my neck. It’s always frizzy no matter how much Kerastase serum and Olaplex oil I put on it. Looks like I’m going to have to try this custard. I dry my hair upside down because it’s a lot faster that way but makes for bigger hair for sure but I don’t mind as I rarely wear it completely down. I just need help all around! Your hair looks beautiful. I love curls on you!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
SO happy to see you embrace the curls, Jamie! I really hope you continue to do so because they are gorgeous❤️ there is so much to learn with curly hair and I have learned so much from ManesByMel on RUclips! There is no right and wrong but I would recommend a heat protectant if you are diffusing❤️ much love!!!
Thank you for sharing - have been looking for a curl product all my life - tried loadzzz of them .. didn’t work .. question - my hair type is 2B so I hope it works… thank you soooo much sweetheart 💐🤗🤗🤗from Toronto
So I bought all these products and my hair is amazing but and it's a big butt haha. The pattern products give me a migraine so what did you use before?

Hi Jamie- thanks for the great advice. Would you do a straight hair routine as a "curly haired girl" ? i struggle so much with that without just frying my hair in a flat iron.
Why is it that we want what we don’t have. I spent sooo much time straightening my hair until I overslept one work day morning and left without doing anything to my just washed hair. Everyone thought I’d had a perm after I left work the night before. It’s been years since I straighten my hair. I have a routine but my hair is not frizzy and curly shampoos weigh it down so I just use Paul Mitchell shampoo 1. No conditioner. Then when it’s almost dry I put some gel in and diffuse upside down. The next morning I comb through to get out any product residue and spray it with water to get the natural curl back. I only wash my hair twice a week usually. You look fantastic Jamie. So happy you’ve embraced your beauty while you’re young.
I purchased the hair product. You’re right my curls are awesome!! So happy to get the recommendation. I’ll try to send you a picture. My hair is a little curlier than yours but wow. It’s awesome!! ❤️
I actually got the custard yesterday. Cant wait to try it! Did also get the styler mini set!!! Now I want the conditioner cuz i always use masks and hate that they’re in a tub LOL Also i vote for higher layers for shape!!! I loveeee having sooo many layers!
Wow, your hair is STUNNING! I have wavy hair (probably 2b) and I just recently discovered how to take care of it and now when I don't straighten my hair all the time it is much healthier and I finally like it and just embrace my natural hair. But you're right, finding out the right method is a real journey, it took me half a year to work out my routine :D but it is worth it!
love your results! I want to try this product now!! my hair is curly like yours but thin so heavy products are a no go for me. Currently, I use the Morrocan oil hydrating style cream, intense curl cream and volumizing mousse. It's a great combo for thin curly hair, but excited to try the Pattern ones!
My hair is exactly like yours and I haven’t been able to find products that work for it. I will be ordering all of these products in hopes that it will look as beautiful as yours.
We have the exact same curly hair!! It’s crazy! I’m going totally try this routine! 🥰 I’m currently using the bondi boost curl cream & a mouse for the hold afterward but this looks so good! I’m curious!
Running to ulta to purchase the custard asap!!! Thank you for the curly hair love! My curly hair is super similar to yours, and like you, I never wore it curly until last year. When you get your haircut, would you vlog it or post details on your insta of exactly what you’re telling your stylist? I’m very new to the salon and my curly hair so I’m still just unsure of what to ask my hair stylist. Thanks!
Your curls look AMAZING!! This video made me wish I had curls..sighh I’ll just have to live vicariously Also I vote no bangs, I actually really like the length of your front pieces, but def some layers would look incredible
Your hair looks beautiful, thanks for sharing your routine. All my youth I had super straight hair then in my 20s I had super frizzy hair and now in my 30s just by using a microfiber hair turban I realized that I actually have 2b/2c type hair and I have no idea how to take care of it. I will be looking into the products you mentioned. ♥️
Jamie- I love your curls! I also have natural curl.. I saw your instagram post and accidentally ordered the patternbeauty styling cream, instead of the "custurd".. I'm going to try it anyway.. but does anyone know the difference? and how you know which one is for you without buying both?... thx.
I've been looking at Pattern since you bought it in your vlog, but I don't know if my hair is curly enough to use it. It's curly but not as much yours is so I am left wondering. I think you should go for the bangs with Fall around the corner.
Omg this is so pretty! My hair is wavy and I can’t get it to be curly like this. If I could get it like yours I would so get bangs… but I know what you mean as a course wavy haired girl I know that bangs can be hard work esp in humidity. But wow 🤩 this hair tutorial is it!!! ❤️🥰
Loved this video!!!! So helpful, I have curly hair and I have been using the Moroccan Oil mousse for a very long time, and I want a change, but I haven't found a cream like product that has worked for me bc my hair is really frizzy.... can't wait to give this a try!!! BTW you hair is absolutely gorgeous 🥰💞
Your curly hair looks amazing 🥰. I love the Pattern medium conditioner for my curls and the leave in conditioner. Will definitely buy the curl custard. I like a simple routine that does the job and really appreciate you posting this video 🤗. Enjoy watching your videos and looking forward to seeing you decorate your new home and to watching all your beauty content☺️🤗.
I'd love to see a collab with manes by mell.. I have 3c course high density hair My routine is using curlsmith weightless airdry cream and either boucleme or aveda gels, defuse and finish with palmers hair serum oil. My hair is a lot of work on washdays but that's only like once a week so I don't mind..
I have curly hair too but my hair is very fine so I'm aaaaalll about volume! Sometimes I even skip conditioner! But damn your curls are like straight up UNREAL. Please wear your hair like this more often because your hair is GOREGOUS!
I’d love to recommend checking out Manes By Mell here on YT. She is a hairdresser and has amazingly beautiful curly hair- she is also a fellow Canadian 😋💕
Jamie! Your hair is this former 80’s girls DREAM! We paid big bucks and sat for hours for those ringlets. The only thing I did different was tease the top to reach God 🤣 because it the thing we did. Hair bands and all the fun 80 stuff lol
Bought just the custard and WOW. I went to the drugstore wearing my hair curly! First time I have ever ventured out with my curls. The ladies at the SDM loved my curls "WHAT". One product made quite a difference.
I'm curious..how many times a week do u wash your hair? i also have very different pattern texture if curls sound my head. it's really hard to style. i have N entire Ulta size store of hair products and am never happy.
Please please please what do I do in the morning?!?? I have naturally curly hair, similar to yours and they look lovey on the day I wash it but after I sleep on it…. Disaster. Please help ❤
I’d love to see a second day “refresh” routine if it’s something you’d be interested in showing us 😁
Still working on perfecting that routine! 2nd day+ curls are tricky
I am just learning to embrace my waves/curls and i have no idea what to do with my second or third day day hair.
Yeah, that is the thing with curly hair. If I blow dry my hair with the Revlon brush drier when it's damp, it doesn't take that long and it can look good until the next wash, and I typically wash twice a week.

Enjoy watching your videos and looking forward to seeing you decorate your new home and to watching all your beauty content☺️🤗.
Do you use a hair protector?
Gorgeous, Jamie! Do you go to a hairdresser that specialises in curly hair? That would be interesting to see if they’re happy to be recorded?
Do u use this everyday? Wat routine do u follow daily?
I love the look. Thank you for the review. I would just scrunch out that crunch with some oil and call it a day. Looks amazing :)
I'd love to see a collab with manes by mell..
I have 3c course high density hair
My routine is using curlsmith weightless airdry cream and either boucleme or aveda gels, defuse and finish with palmers hair serum oil. My hair is a lot of work on washdays but that's only like once a week so I don't mind..
Wow beautiful
I have curly hair too but my hair is very fine so I'm aaaaalll about volume! Sometimes I even skip conditioner! But damn your curls are like straight up UNREAL. Please wear your hair like this more often because your hair is GOREGOUS!
I can't wait to try the curl custard!!!
I’d love to recommend checking out Manes By Mell here on YT. She is a hairdresser and has amazingly beautiful curly hair- she is also a fellow Canadian 😋💕
After the gel I put oil that way it doesn’t feel so crunchy and to refresh it oil works wonders as well
That’s amazing!! So happy to hear 🥰
I'm curious..how many times a week do u wash your hair? i also have very different pattern texture if curls sound my head. it's really hard to style. i have N entire Ulta size store of hair products and am never happy.
If I wear my hair curly and I want it to look fresh, every 3 days! If I wear it straight, once a week!
Love this 👏❤️
Please please please what do I do in the morning?!?? I have naturally curly hair, similar to yours and they look lovey on the day I wash it but after I sleep on it…. Disaster. Please help ❤
Fav products: olaplex leave in cream, ouidad extra hold ant humidity gel
Subbed and liked. Hope you're doing well, enjoying 2022, and staying safe.
one thing that i think it would really benefit your curls is getting a denman brush…. MAN what a miracle brush, just WOW
How do you think this would work with wavy hair, 2a-2c curl pattern 🤔. It seems like such a simple and good routine!
