Hello hello! 😊 No, I'm not a History Professor or Historian (that was an option back when I was going to university, but alas I chose a more "sensible" option). I'm just someone who loves history, especially medieval and renaissance Portuguese history.

Na minha humilde opinião, a Ordem dos Templários foi mais uma das inúmeras vítimas das " fake news" ao longo dos tempos, mas ... sobreviveu com glória. Já os seus detratores ...
É uma pena que ainda nos dias de hoje algumas pessoas se deixem levar por fatores subjetivos, quando deveriam ser isentas e aprenderem com os fatos históricos. Muito sucesso ao seu excelente canal. Os mitos mais negativos sobre os Templários até são recentes, últimos 20 anos talvez, fruto de livros de ficção como os do autor Dan Brown (e respetivos filmes) que tiveram muita popularidade. As pessoas confundem ficção com realidade.

I do try to make the videos as immersive as possible, within the limitations of consumer cameras and microphones, I'm glad you enjoy the final result. 😀
I also much prefer the sounds of the surroundings over music. I never felt compelled to use earbuds or headsets to fill my head with sounds that distract from experiencing surroundings as they are. Much prefer wind rustling tree leaves, steps on stone or gravel walkways, birdsong, chatter, etc.
@@ruthconstantino6861 I usually add a few minutes of music in some specific places, because I know that many people do like it. Inside churches, monuments, etc. 🙂

Hello Ada! 😊 I agree but it does happen! I'm sure it has to do with the false myths spread about the Templars in the last couple of decades (the Dan Brown books, etc), some people probably think of them as blasphemous or even satanic. Basically it means that King Philip IV of France succeeded in tarnishing the Templars' legacy.

I'm so glad you featured the city of Pombal! It is a pretty and vibrant city. Where you filmed seems largely free of graffiti and neglect. It looks to have a variety of commerce and amenities amongst residences, which seems a town well suited for walking. And indeed, it was nice to see so many citizens out and about. What employment keeps this city well populated and well serviced? Why did that mural portray the Marquês de Pombal as happily stuffed with feathers? Impressive castle, like the distinctive crenellations. Very much enjoyed this tour with you and hope to enjoy Pombal some day soon. Thank you.
Hello Ruth! 😊 Yes, Pombal has been developing quite well since the mid-20th century, its quality of life is very good. Due to its central location in Portugal, many companies and industries have established themselves in this region in the last few decades. For example, manufacturing of rubber and plastic products, automotive components, and especially the manufacturing of metal products. The tourism sector is also important.
I don't know why the Marquês de Pombal is portrayed as happily stuffed with feathers, but I like it. 😁

It's good to know this area has multiple and varied industries that support its population. It's really good to see. (Currently, my city has long suffered from insufficient housing, covid-loss of population then jobs, loss of industries, and from crime, homelessness, drug related stuff... so every hater is singing the death knell of San Francisco and blaming our liberalism for everything. A place always accepting and innovative where every being from everywhere in the planet gets along, the haters are happy to see SF knocked over so they can sneer at our leaders.)

One reason is to hone my English skills, another one is because I've always been very interested in all things American, since I was a kid. I have recently watched a few documentaries about San Francisco, your comment made me remember everything I watched and the comments I read. I'm a glass half-full type of person, i'm sure things will improve in SF soon. It's still an amazing city, I hope I can visit it one day. 😊

Il y a une Place Pombal à Biscarosse ! Il y a des échanges à Biscarosse avec Pombal La ville de Pombal à offert à Biscarosse une Rose des Sables ! Et on trouve à Biscarosse une stèle qui représente la carte du Portugal ! C est un Portugais de Biscarosse qui a lancé l idée de jumelage car beaucoup de Portugais vivaient dans les Landes et certains enfants ne parlaient que français ! On leur a donné des cours de Portugais pour qu ils puissent retrouver leur culture ! Les Portugais aiment la France et respectent le pays ! Ce sont des vrais amis ! Biscarosse Pombal !

The Heart of Viana, which is used as a symbol of the city of Viana do Castelo, in northern Portugal, emerged in Portugal with the cult of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at the end of the 18th century, with its sanctuary located in Viana do Castelo. 😊 I think the hearts in Pombal are just decoration. Para ativar toque no ícone da rodinha ⚙️ ou 3 pontinhos ⋮ no seu RUclips (depende se está a usar TV, computador, etc), depois "Legendas" e escolha "Português" na lista. Depois diga se funcionou. 🙂
Curious as to your background regarding Portuguese history and The Knights Templar. I have studied Portuguese history and noted how frequently Portuguese royals kept marrying into Spanish royalty. No doubt this made it easy for Spain to take over Portugal for decades until the Portuguese gained independence from them. My aunt and uncle that is still celebrated in Portugal with the Portuguese raising the Portuguese flag at the Portuguese/Spanish border and the Spaniards raising the huge vat where they boiled the Portuguese hero threw the Portuguese flag into Portugal, when the Spanish caught him and boiled him alive in oil.
The Dutch still aren’t happy with the Spanish occupation of their own country and have similar stories, although they like it when any of their children are dark and brag that these children are showing Spanish heritage from the occupation.🙄

Yes, there were a few succession crises and interregnums in Portuguese history, in part caused by Portuguese royals kept marrying into Spanish royalty. Notably the 1383-85 crisis and the loss of independence between 1580-1640.

My mom is Portuguese and my dad was mostly Portuguese with Irish so I grew up speaking the language badly (mixed with English) so I heard about the history including the Spanish occupation and the celebration of Independence from Spain plus the dislike of the Portuguese Royal Family and the nobility.
My in-laws are Dutch so they like the Spanish as much as we did (we didn't and grew up hearing bad things about Spaniards). My late uncle and aunt were Portuguese teachers in Portugal.

j ai vu qu il y a une rue Biscarosse à Pombal ! En France Biscarosse c est un village dans les Landes ! Peut être que Pombal est jumelé avec Biscarosse car c est un joli village de vacances sur la cote Atlantique ( un peu comme l Algrave ) dans le département des Landes pas loin de la frontière avec l Espagne ! Rue Biscarosse ! Peut être il y a une rue Pombal à Biscarosse ! C est loin d Aix en Provence je sais pas ! Mais Pombal et Biscarosse sont peut ête jumelées !

Il créea des ccompagnies de monopole ! La compagnie de pêche de Baleirado Brasil ! Dde Tabacco , de Pescaria do Brasil do Algrarve ! La Junta do Tabacco ! Il améliora la perception des impôts

Bom dia Renato! 😊 O governo investe cada vez mais em transporte público, mas nestes municípios com densidade populacional mais baixa é complicado. Há muitas pequenas localidades fora do centro urbano para os quais não é economicamente viável ter uma grande rede de transporte público.

Il y a une Place Pombal à Biscarosse ! Il y a des échanges à Biscarosse avec Pombal La ville de Pombal à offert à Biscarosse une Rose des Sables ! Et on trouve à Biscarosse une stèle qui représente la carte du Portugal ! C est un Portugais de Biscarosse qui a lancé l idée de jumelage car beaucoup de Portugais vivaient dans les Landes et certains enfants ne parlaient que français ! On leur a donné des cours de Portugais pour qu ils puissent retrouver leur culture ! Les Portugais aiment la France et respectent le pays ! Ce sont des vrais amis ! Biscarosse Pombal !
