I’m 63, Hampshire fan. Obviously we don’t have this. I watched Paul Allot interview Athers on LancsTv, with comments closed. One of the best interviews I’ve ever witnessed. These are wonderful videos. Some astonishing achievements.
The only thing I remember about Old Trafford is Ponting's magnificent century against England in 2005 Ashes. He played an innings of his life as his 156 is regarded as the greatest knock ever in the History of Test Cricket. England heaved a sigh of relief as Ponting finally perished to a beautiful delivery from Steve Harmisson. The entire crowd rose to it's feet to give a standing ovation as Ponting made a long walk back to the Pavilion. Rise To The Occasion When It Really Matters.
Greats of Lancashire CCC. Tyldesley brothers, Archie McLaren, Washbrook Statham, Anderton, Clive Lloyd, Freddie Flintoff Wasim Akram. An endless list. Yet in August I can't take my two cricket mad sons to watch their 1st team as a fake team called Manc Originals have cuckooed in the old trafford nest. 4th oldest world test venue. You can't beat Lancashires history.
