No other batsman in world cricket at this time had the strength, quickness of eye, range of strokes, temperament, discipline or desire that Viv Richards demonstrated here in this clinical and brutal dismantling of England's bowling attack. It's not that the bowlers didn't bowl well at him. He simply didn't let them bowl at or to him at all. A masterclass from the master blaster !
That's Viv,the greatest! Yes,I met him twice& presented him too with a beautiful replica(model) of a Cricket Stadium for which he wrote great compliments for me..he wrote: "I will find a special place in my house for this wonderful bit of art"&he wrote his address too:Gambles Terrace, Antigua! Later I also presented a similar one to Sir Gary Sobers who too wrote great compliments for my art work.He wrote:"....I should treasure this for a very long time& remember my trip to Bombay with fond memories!" Well, that's Sir Viv Richards&Sir Gary Sobers! But none of our Indian Cricketers gave me such wonderful comments but criticism!Well, it's our misfortune &we know it well how&what we are!!😂😂😂
Sir Vivian Richards What a class act !! Just brilliant to watch - some of those boundries were just a flick of the wrist! His timing and placing was on a another level !
And as happened so often in those days while others were falling Viv Richards coped with whatever was thrown at him, great days, viva Viv Richards and Ian Botham. Fantastic days of cricket.
The last shot of Viv was incredible. Botham targets the legs and bowls a full delivery to cramp the great man. Viv digs it out and straight/off drives it. The timing and power is so immense that it beats the fielder at widish long off. Incredible. Any other batsman couldnt have got more than 2 from that delivery.
Went past Old Trafford cricket ground in January , all concrete and glass looked better in the old days it seems but admittedly İ have never been in the ground
An innings should be measured by what happens around them. England dominated with one exception. The Windies scorecard was a sorry sight with one exception.

Sir Viv... the greatest of all time
Greatest inning by a batsman in ODI history. It's not just the 189* but the way he held that inning together with Michael Holden at the end
Think Mike deserves a lot of credit as well both he amd Marshall were decent with the bat early in their careers
That is the only cricket match I have ever watched live, and it was fantastic - even for a foreigner (from a non-cricketing country)
How lucky are you to see the genius at work during whilst watching your first match.

May I know what is your profession?
Sir Vivian Richards
What a class act !!

Viv. The best batsman in my lifetime. This one of the best innings of all timd.
No
Yes
For sure the best innings in the context of a match indeed
Best innings of all times in cricket history.
Irrespective of what happening at other end Viv clobered from his end.
And as happened so often in those days while others were falling Viv Richards coped with whatever was thrown at him, great days, viva Viv Richards and Ian Botham. Fantastic days of cricket.
Yes beautiful batting Viv Richards well played
All those 5 sixes cleared over 100+ meters and in today's cricket Viv would have scored 250+ in the same time...Brutally Master Class.
He scored almost a hundred with Holding at the other end ...incredible !!!
One of the best innings I have ever seen
Mind blowing batting 😍😍Stunning to watch
Strange to see Richie Richardson so early in the 1980's. Walsh was also on this trip though I don't think he played any international games.
West Indies team was the best of the 70s and the80s of my time great team
The best one day innings in the history of the game. Sir is the Grand Master of batting
The favorite batsman of the great bowlers.
The great man Viv Richards.
Best odi innings

Great batsman in history of world cricket. Love to Viv Rechard sir
My favourite player in the field of cricket , sir Vivian Richards
the best innings i ever saw the great man Richards play

I wonder how many huge scores Sir Viv would get these days with the (generally) much smaller boundaries.
Viv Richards the best batsman ever.
I didn't know that Holden could bat very good
Early in his career, he was a decent batsman so was Marshall
A violent assault on the English bowling, he didn’t even celebrate when he set the world record.
Against a strong physique of viv there is another class , in very lean and thin David Gover. One of the all time class.
I was there
How lucky are you
Never seen the Batting of Vivian Richards hundred
Can’t bowl against that!🤣
Bairstow with a short sleeved shirt on. Village.
Derek Pringle, do me a favour!🙄🤦
The only bowler who actually decelerated as he approached his delivery stride.
Greatest batsman.that graced the world.
Foster treated like a mediocre spinner.
