This video was SO helpful! We’re taking on our first State Farm claim as a small business and they covered soft metals and some ridge cap making the claim conveniently just under the deductible but shingles surrounding vents are super brittle and hoping to take this route. I believe the shingle is discontinued as well
Will you do a video showing the breakdown of the report you send to insurance? Do you send a video or just a report saying it’s not repairable with pictures?
That’s a great idea. I think I’ll do that. Shingles are considerably less expensive than metal roofs but I will be doing a metal roof this winter, so I’ll definitely be scrubbing up. Thank you so much for the recommendation and for the comment
@@ChicagoRoofer i am going to be in the market for a house here soon and am looking to minimize maintenance. Long term, should i be looking at metal roofs?
@@williammeek4078 -- maintenance will be needed on every roof, but metals roofs have less depending on where one is located. the screws in the metal roofs have rubber gaskets that will rot and cause leaks all over the place. standing seam metal roofs are incredibly expensive but have less issues. i always suggest going back to laminate shingles if the region experiences semi-frequent hail storms. the roof can get replaced by insurance (RCV policy will help here) due to hail damage 8-10 year mark. vast majority of roofs do not have problems that early. keep recycling the roof due to hail and only pay a deductible (generally $1000-$1500) each time and you will not need a metal roof that costs 5x as much as a shingle roof. make sure a good insurance restoration roofing company inspects the roof and helps get the claim approved, though.

How long does nts take while the roof is tarped?
5" exposures, disco baby
You're spot on. They are discontinued but this roof would be a nightmare to do due to the flashing issues with rotted wood siding.
Guessing you're a roofer. What city? How long you been doing it? Thanks for the comment :-)
Great video, do you prefer standard shingles to metal roofs, could you do a video on it?

What i am getting from this is don’t get an asphalt shingle roof.
Asphalt roofs can be tricky. What would you like to know?
