    After having my roof inspected by 3 independent roofing companies, all agreeing hail damage and reviewing the weather record (6 coverable hail events in roof history, active leaks) the inspector from SF came out, only looked at the roof for 2 min and walked up to my wife and started accusing her of fraud. After a long battle and several heated calls to those assholes we got the roof replaced. I am switching companies today after they were unable to even get my paperwork correct. Just say NO to State Farm Insurance.

      You all act as if these insurance companies don't share the same exact house and home policy. It's all the same language. Go read your damn insurance policy that you signed a binding contract over. Know what the hell you're signing and what the policy is covering. You think the insurance company is just going to agree to whatever a contractor stipulates? Are you all that naive? These policies are a sudden and accidental perils-based policy. For you less intelligent folks, that means damage has to fall under a specific loss type. If an ice dam broke off under your window and took your gutter off, guess what, that's a coverable loss. If mr joe blow roofing contractor knocks on your door and says "Howdy there homeowner. "Say, I was driving by and noticed your roof was looking a bid worse for the wear. "How do you say you call your insurance company and we will try and replace your roof for you?" "Sound good?" Sorry, that's not how the insurance company works. You don't just get a new roof because a contractor says so. @@jojose417

    This doesn't always work because not every policy has code upgrade. The other issue is that if your roof exceeds 10nyears of life, your policy switches to ACV. I would recommend hiring a public adjuster or a lawyer if your claim is denied and you have legitimate damage. I have won many roofs that way especially when the insurance company hires a lying engineer that doesn't know anything about roofing.

    • @GggghBbhh
      @GggghBbhh Месяц назад

      I mean he literally mentioned the homeowner code upgrades in the video so I sure he knows what he’s doing and not every policy switches to ACV due to age

    • @noobx0452
      @noobx0452 Месяц назад

      @@GggghBbhh you clearly don't understand how insurance works and I hope you're not a contractor. Some insurance companies don't allow for code upgrade in their policy. You can yell at the insurance companies much as you want that the roof doesn't meet code but if it's not in the policy they could give two shits less. And yes every major carrier is switching over to ACV after a roof hits 10 years. It is 100% going to happen and it is happening now. Good luck because you do not know what you are talking about.

    I had shingles blown off about a 6 x 4' area and many more creased. I have State Farm. My roof has 2 layers of shingles and code says 2 layers can't be repaired - a code issue. To make matters worse, the roof is about 18 years old and has Tempco American sized shingles. The only color that SF says is a close match (I haven't see it) is Metric sized. State Farm will only pay $6000 to do one slope (on front of $500k house) and entire replacement is $20K. I don't trust most public adjusters, so what would you advise? Should I file my own Proof of Loss and sue them or what?

    • @jojose417

      I am in the same situation!! They will cover back slope only, I'm in a townhouse so the total cost is lower but will still be about 10K. I have a contractor working on getting the whole thing replaced. So what ended up happening with your claim?

      @@jojose417 I've had to sue them! They only offered to pay for part of the front and the shingles were no where close to matching the other part of the front, and there was also damage in the back they wouldn't personally come checkout. They only sent some 3rd party inspector out (worked for Hamilton) and he was up on my roof for maybe 5 minutes. SF refused to send one of their own people out to see what my roofer was finding. I should know something by middle of September.

      Asphalt shingles only last about 15 years in Florida heat. If you have an 18-year-old roof, consider yourself lucky the insurer is willing to pay you ANYTHING. Once you've hit the tail-end of life expectancy on your roof it's pretty unreasonable to expect the insurer to pay for a new replacement. Take whatever they offer and be thankful.

    You’re being misleading. I’m a licensed claims adjuster and a real estate investor.
    State Farm always pays for what is owed based on the policy. Nothing less, but in some cases they will do more. Not betterment, but more. Roofs can be repaired if you know what you’re doing and there’s still life in the shingles. Roofers repair roofs all the time. The fact is that they don’t like to go behind someone else’s work.
    Code compliance and build ordinances is part of most policies because it is mandated by most states legal codes and statutes. So finding a code violation for a roof replacement is nothing amazing, it’s just doing your job. State Farm, like most insurance companies, have a threshold of when a full roof replacement is required over repair and that threshold is low. So if a homeowner doesn’t get a full roof replacement on a claim it’s because the damage from the cause of loss was minimal at best.

    Those of you who are finding it impossible to get decent homeowners insurance coverage need to realize why. This is a classic example. This was an OLD roof that needed to be replaced BEFORE any storm came along. This contractor is proud of the fact that he got the insurer to do a complete roof replacement on a roof that the homeowner was responsible for. YOU paid for that new roof. The insurance company didn't end up paying for it... YOU did.

      I worked in home improvement as painter. I sometimes noticed roofs that were bad. I had a number of customers call their state farm agents and the roofs were replaced. Then a few years ago they got a new CEO that decided they were spending too much on replacement roofs, so State Farm started denying all claims. The thing to remember is even old roofs are covered in the policy and were replaced in the past. If State Farm doesn't want to pay for them, they need to change their policies and inform their customers.
