Tom Brady has a 75% career win percentage. NL(subtracting the losses given by disconnect) is hovering around the 80% mark. We are witnessing HoF talent before our eyes.
So technically this is not a great comparison as this game is totally solo play whereas American Football is a huge team (and half the players on that team change between attack and defence I believe) meaning Tom's percentage would be unfairly impacted in a game in which HE is personally on fire but everyone else on his team is sucking ass. A better comparison would be a totally solo based game such as Golf or Boxing and a comparison to the greatest in said field, so uhhh Tiger Woods or Muhammed Ali? (I don't personally count Floyd Mayweather as a boxer because he doesn't knock people out and just won on points against chumps, he knew how to play the scoring to benefit his smaller frame and slower mind though)
omg, watching NL go punch for punch, get completely checkmated, and figure his way out with GOSFORD PARK, and have the game go on for 10 more movies was EPIC.
I thought the same thing! As soon as I saw the premise of this game I was like "oh... his poor opponents." I thought NL would always be known for Isaac, but this feels like fate.
It is funny to see the intense disconnect between the most played/most banned on the home page versus the league Ryan's playing in. You can tell they're on another level.
9:35 If Ryan ever finds himself able to corner someone on Woody Allen again, he's gotta break out "What's Up, Tiger Lily?" It's a parody dub of a 1960s Japanese spy movie with almost no names attached to it that people would recognize. Ryan is cracked at this game, the way he gets himself out of jams, corners people, and knows obscure actors and movies is nuts. Sometimes he has a couple blind spots that make me go "oh shit, I know something he doesn't!"
Everybody is going to have some blind spots, but it's NL's name memory that makes him very impressive at this game. The fact that's he's seen seemingly pretty much every big movie that came out during a 20 year period also helps.
It wouldnt take long for people to start flowcharting these obscure movies and itll change the meta. Im not against it, but the pure knowledge of movies is more impressive to witness than the learned gameplay gimmicks.
@@benisboy2697 This is true. With a bit of time the top level play in this will likely become a bit weird with memorized strategies, but fresh off the bat it's good fun.
@@benisboy2697 Yeah, I'm sure eventually someone will just create a bunch of "perfect openers" for like the top 50 most famous actors, directors, or writers, which will make gameplay kind of stale. Being able to watch NL just on the fly come up with strategies and solutions, while flexing the insane breadth of his movie knowledge is great fun though until then.
And jay is relatively focused. If its a 1985-now horror movie, jay will sweep anyone. But if NL is able to suck him into his vortex, i don't know of many people that can get out.
Holy POG, it freakin KILLED me when he tried to go back to the S1m0ne well only to be hit by the "AL PACINO WAS BANNED BY YOUR OPPONENT." I'm so POGGED.
man i hope he keeps playing this for awhile. I know almost nothing about movies but watching someone be super good at something is just super entertaining
30:40 Overnight Delivery is a good Paul Rudd to corner someone on, no one remembers that movie. You can either beat them or make them burn lifelines, and you still have an out because it has Reese Witherspoon and Tobin Bell in it.
NL getting a cast and skip lifeline out of the guy using the second mighty ducks movie confuses me so much. Why would you not try typing in the mighty ducks and clicking the first one or something.
Man, this game seems so fun, but I am never, ever going to even attempt to play it because you have to be a far, far bigger cinephile geek than I am to even have a chance.
The couple times I saw the autocomplete give a few Anime movies got me thinking, could you actually get to some of them? Imagine stranding someone like NL on a Makoto Shinkai movie.
You can definitely get to the anime movies because some of them have well known Hollywood actors doing the English voices. For example some of the Miyazaki films feature big stars like Liam Neeson (Ponyo), Christian Bale (Howl's Moving Castle), Kirsten Dunst (Kiki's Delivery Service) and so on. You could probably get to the less mainstream stuff too if you looked at what American films the English dub voices have been in and figured out paths to get there and so on.
Tip for Chris Evans. I think you can go for a The Losers as a killshot. Its got some stars in it but I feel it needs a Cast lifeline. No one knows that shit.
bro Sweetest Thing for Cameron Diaz kill shot goes crazy, gota have a selma blair or applegate flare to get out of that cave, thats if you know its there
This man could be the prime minister of Canada if it weren’t for all the obscure movie knowledge held in his tremendous dome, but at least has found an output for it.
once you've burned their skip it's pretty much over all you have to do is take them to the most obscure bullshit and they can't put it back on you with the skip
In most games, even ones NL is good at, there usually are a couple times where I think I would have made a better move, but not this. Every single play is better than anything I could do.
POV: you are
A. In the wheelhouse
B. In the caves
C. Waiting for the killshot
D. In the maze AND HES THE MINOTAUR
G. Getting Gotti’d
Stranded in Busan with a bunch of South Korean actors
In the tunnels
zzii: all of the above
Absolutely praying for the day NL goes up against the 85 year old movie guru who drags him to the bizzaro world of 1940s-60s movies.
He’ll just take the L and turn on the lag switch. We don’t do that over here
Speaking of that he should learn that the ultimate jack nicholson strand spot is the original little shop of horrors lol
The John Wayne Clint Eastwood etc death spiral
You think only 80 year olds are watching 40's-60's movies??
@@DheRadmanif you don't know Roger Corman or Dick Miller

speaking of percentage, what does the percent on the movies mean?
@@ziwuri frequency of play. Higher % = more commonly used as a link between movies

20:14 This is the game!
25:24 is where the moment happened
I haven’t seen him this excited since Tape to Tape came out. He’s in his domain
Back-seaters in shambles, been real quiet since this dropped.
it genuinely blows my mind someone can know this much about movies lmao
Man, I literally can't wait for Cine2Nerdle Battle mode to come back on the 18th. I need NL to do videos of it forever LMFAO
I love how this is basically a fighting game and NL's main is 90s'-2008 movies!
That last guy with the 80’s movies had me jumping and screaming out loud like I was watching a scary movie. Bro that was fucking epic 😂
I could watch this series for the rest of my life. I don't even know what he's talking about but I'm poggin with him.
The Magnus Carlsen of movie trivia has logged on
So true. I tried playing and was so bad. Even by cheating on the other screen it was basically impossible
I thought the same thing! As soon as I saw the premise of this game I was like "oh... his poor opponents." I thought NL would always be known for Isaac, but this feels like fate.
I hope he goes pro in this and i can tell everyone Ryan Letter No used to just be an egg with a kid back when I knew him.
ryan letter no broooo

He is so fucking insane at this game. I can't wait for the m3gan arc
foaming at the mouth for more of the movie trivia fighting game
I like how he went against like 1 Matthew Broderick player and now refuses to switch his bans
Gotta trap them in the Broderick Bog
The Yeun opening gambit goes crazy 😂😂😂

NL calling out the opponents moves is so good
This is the first game NL played that I'm too stupid to follow.
this is so entertaining despite not knowing 99% of the movies and references he's making
The "Friends with Money" killshot is like 1/20 from the field
this game looks crazy fun, too bad ive watched like, 15 movies in my whole life.
I can't get enough of these and I don't even watch many movies
I audibly cheered on that Gosford Park (2001) save
I'd love to see NL vs Jay from RLM in this game. Jay definitely has stronger face memory, but he might be weaker on names.
The crossover we never expected to see

Thank you for letting me rewatch this.
Love the Meta development he should learn outs for his own traps do he doesn’t have to use casts when they skip lolol
This is dope but also cant wait to be done with starting with Get Out.
52:12 Brian Jordan Alvarez is in M3GAN? As in the "she text me the frick back" guy? This is huge
I was going crazy when I saw that
I'm ready to be led into dark alleys and egg holes
To get pegged

"Oh no Anthony Hopkin's in this, he could take my ass back to 1930!" This is just peak NL
the way i immediately understood who bob balaban was from his description haha 42:04
The Gray Man. He was gray in both appearance and demeanour.
this is like pop culture chess memorizing the cast of movies like morbius or b tier animated movies is like memorizing a long specific set of moves
i can't believe he hit em with the jennifer aniston rope-a-dope
We’re so back, and the egg is still cracked
Dude I am in love with this content. Nls recall skills are remarkable tbh
"Dont make me your second X" also the single off of NL's next pop album lmao
Please continue playing this, my new favorite sub series!
The Stephen Yeuniverse catches another victim
almost got lost in the gould mines

he might be the magnus carlsen of cinema
The Alvin and the Chipmunks kill was crazy
Egg man is lucky I was not there to lose him in the Lee Chang-dong-verse
Gary Sinise was also in The Quick and the Dead. That's probably a good movie to try if you're panicking because it has like every 90's actor in it.
0:45 missed opportunity to call it the Cole mines
I love how he just has ensemble movie hail Marys in his pocket and that it actually worked!

Me hearing NL name famous actors with distinguished careers who aren't leads: "WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE!"
The legend continues. Loving this and hope they throw in some curve balls with older films to start.
