⚠️ CAUTION! STRONG CURRENT Please be cautious, watch for boats and stay near the jetty rocks. Wear a life jacket or snorkeling vest and use a dive flag when not in designated swimming areas. Do not swim or snorkel beyond the swim area markers if you are not a strong swimmer or have health issues that prevent strenuous exercise.

I just came back from destin, we spent our last two days in norriego point and had the greatest experience when two manatíes came and stayed with us for about 10 min ! This is paradise

I just wanted to say thank you so much for your great videos! Me and my husband just got back from our snorkeling trip in Destin and we went to these spots as you recommended. We both totally fell in love with snorkeling! The water was murky (maybe because post hurricane/tropical storm?) but we were still able to see a lot of marine life. We are already talking about coming back next year! When do you think would be the best time to snorkel? It’s my dream to meet a sea turtle one day....☺️
Thanks so much. I really do appreciate it. Yea, lately the storms in the Gulf have had a impact on water clarity. Especially in the passes where the jetties are located. With these storms there is lots of stained water which dumps into the bays then goes out with the low tide. Then sometimes its so much that even on high tide the water still murky. I have a video from Destin where this happened ruclips.net/video/m1gGPe5Ady8/видео.html. As far as the best time to go.. I would say Spring or early Summer to avoid hurricanes like we saw this year which was very unusual. Also tides are very important and high tide will have the best clarity... as you go into late September, October, early November the high tides are more rare to occur during daylight snorkeling hours. What he fails to mention is The NIGHTMARE OF PARKING YOU WILL EXPERIENCE HERE! The public beach here is very small and parking spaces are limited for the amount of public beach traffic they get. Even the state park down the road is full a lot of the time!
🤣 That can be said about parking anywhere in Destin or any other popular tourist destination for that matter... especially during peak Summer months. However, my Momma didn't raise no fool... I go early and I never have an issue finding a parking space. There's truth to the old saying "the early bird gets the worm" but in this case it's a great parking spot. Thanks for watching. 😁👍

How deep is tge water pls? Is it safe for beginners snorkeling for kids?
There are shallow areas and deeper areas... Norriego Point and East Pass jetty both have shallow areas safe for children, but gets deeper the further you get from shore. Be careful of the currents in the pass and I recommend snorkeling vests or life vests. 😁👍🤿🐡🐠🐟🐬🐙🦈📸
Is it deep enough to use scuba gear?
Yes, but there is a strong current at Norriego Point. Many people scuba at the East Pass jetty.
How deep is the water where you snorkel?
I mainly snorkel around the jetties at Norriego Point and East Pass jetty can be anywhere from a few feet to 15 feet.
Wheres a good spot to take kids snorkeling in destin? Where the current isn’t so strong.
There are designated swimming areas at Norriego Point for small children and the East Pass jetty has a large swimming area inside the finger jetty where there is no current. Have fun! 😁
