I fish Choctaw bay all the time. Lots of awesome fish down there; Sheepshead, Black Drum, Redfish... But what surprised me most were the Goliath Grouper! I didn't even know we HAD those all the way up here!!! Thanks for the helpful video 👍
They have multiplied big time in our area. I starting diving around 2000. Used to hardly see one. Got to where we'd see big numbers on certain wrecks. They can devastate a small reef/wreck of the game fish. We quit going to certain wrecks because we'd go down to spearfish and all it had on it were a couple goliath groupers. Saw one 30 miles south that could have swallowed me whole!
I saw a flabbergasted slack jawed lollygagger, a pair of two tone muffler bearings, and a pickled herring down there on a tuesday. We went to MacGuires and drank them away
I have a video where I caught a few of those big black drum off that pass. I knew there were Goliaths down there, I just wasn’t sure how many. I expected to see alot more…
I'm no Doctor but this is what I've heard for a deep hook: get it out, like you did, then put hydrogen peroxide on the wound, then take 1000mg of Vitamin C every 4 hours for one to two days. Or you can go get a Tetanus shot. Glad it was a great trip!
sorry for this random comment, but 1:55 is that "pirate ship" always there (stationary) or daily taking tours because i was just now as im typing this reminiscing about going to Destin 30 years ago with my grandfather and taking his boat out fishing and i just decided to google map to just take in some of the scenery again since i havent been since he passed away and we ultimately had to get rid of his boat in 2001. anyway, i remembered my paw taping everything and one of his tapes he was recording off of bridge so i just 'street viewed' at the bridge to look and i saw THIS pirate ship in that exact same spot. so either its always there or the google map satellite took this exact image and got yall on camera too. its kind of crazy how i was just looking at google maps and randomly clicked on this video to also take in some east pass scenery and there that pirate ship was again.
@@zachfskipper yea i am currently finishing it, and just about 10 seconds ago i saw it pass back under the bridge. its still a very funny coincidence that it was basically in that exact spot on google map and in this random (to me) video. lol i also wasnt expecting this video to be so enjoyable, i didnt realize what i was about to watch when i clicked. i got to get back down there and go fishing. lol
Hey, that's awesome! I'm from Fairfield too, and I've been fishing all around Penfield Reef and the lighthouse. I had no idea there was a shipwreck there. What kind of boat was it, and when did it go down?
That was cool seeing all those Reds and black drum running with the pack.
Woah awesome video! Cool how the fish were so calm.

It gottem lol
Nice one, very good viz for what i'm used to, what's the maximum depth? and those goliath groupers are massive
@@evolvedmonkey9978 about 40 feet in the channel.
Those are literally juvenile Goliaths.
@@Southern_Taurus_ they are still bigger than anything else under the bridge. Bigger than the video makes them look.
@@zachfskipper I’ve seen one on the east jetty that’ll eat those.
I bet you could make a ton of money just collecting all the anchors off the bottom under that bridge.
We used to see a ton of anchors but most people use gps trolling motors now.
i thought It would clearer than that. Must be outgoing tide.
@@davidwheeler7613 it was. It can go from crystal clear to bay water in a single dive.
There's a simple way to remove a hook that's buried past the barb. Relatively painless. Look it up.
You mean you don't snatch it out with a rusty pair of pliers?
Inject water or better yet saline solution
The school of red fish, my God. I probably couldnt catch one
Drop a live shrimp or crab down there and hang on

What is all that clicking sound under the water?
I'm not sure. I think is a salt water thing
Hoe do you like the 205CC? Handles chop? two entry doors, wow!

they call that lure a Gotcha for a reason
You right
How deep is it there?
About 40 feet in the channel
You need to rub some dirt on that wound.
Looks like the fenders need replacing

I’m pretty sure that’s mid bay bridge
It's not.
