The less is the better, as they say in the hi-end audiophile in the 80s. I bought 2 of the Fosi Audio V3 Mono amps along with the Fosi Audio P3 tube buffer preamp and I am very happy with the purchases. FYI, before installing the vacuum tubes, one must turn the 2 copper rings counter clockwise to remove them from the case for easy to maneuver to align the pins of the vacuum tunes with the base where the tubes sit on. In some case, one may have to slightly straighten the pins of the tubes. It took me less than 5 minutes to install the 2 vacuum tubes.
I'm all in on passive subs and have two designated Aiyima 1001s to supply power. The reason is all home powered Subwoofers are basically all big cubes that are awkward to place however buy a couple of automotive subs meant to be placed under a Cars seat and just put them under a couch , chair or cabinet and it sounds great and is out of sight .
I have a two passive subwoofers (in different rooms). The Dayton Audio DTA-100LF was the only option I could find at $100 or less that has marked/numerated low pass filter controls (plus all sorts of other fine tuning) In the budget price range, the Nobsound, Douk Audio, Fosi, and Aiyima sub frequency knobs are all unmarked.
I currently have 2 active subs with dead plate amps, as MANY people also do, who also often find they cannot find replacement plate amps that will fit in the cutout. These Aiyima A70 Monoblocks are perfect to power these dead subs; you only have to buy one.
It's actually a genius design.... not everyone uses powered subs..! Say you have an enclosed sub in your car, you take it out because you're selling the car and for one reason or another you can't use it in the new car, with this amp you can use it in a 2.1, 5.1, 7.1, etc system... You just set it to mono, use the frequency dial to integrate it with your speakers and the volume dial to set the gain for a seamless and balanced pairing with the rest of the system... I have the wiim pro streamer as the head unit, 2x fosi za3's in mono mode for the L/R speakers and the a70 mono to power a 10" fosgate pro sub in a sealed box.. she kicks like a mule and with Burson v7v opamps in the fosi's sounds sweet as..!
It seems that Fosi & Aiyima are “throwing darts while blind folded” hoping to discover the feature-set their customers want (or need) on these surprising good (sounding) amps. Most of us appear to like the idea mono-blocks, both balanced and unbalanced inputs, and subwoofer outputs, so let’s consider that the “starting point”. Here’s what I’d like to see: 1) Drop the low pass filter on the sub out. 2) Provide dual sub out connections with a single sub option. 3) Provide the option to apply high-pass filter(s) on the the speaker outputs (80-250 hz?). 4) Independent volume controls for each amp (for left/right balance compensation). 5) Place both amps in a single chassis with adequate isolation. 6) Put the two separate power supplies in a matching cabinet that would stack with the amps cabinet AND offer a dual linear power supply option (again in a matching cabinet). 7) Easier access to the opamp sockets (without having to remove case screws), maybe a hinged case top? THAT would be a product I would be VERY interested in…
studying audio pervery for only a year or so, definitely feel i could design a better concept snd aesthetic for budget amplification. until then i’ll stick w my regular a70, and or, my dual mono 70s pioneer receiver 🖖🏼
I personally prefer mono block amplifiers with volume controls and am currently using two A07 max’s in conjunction with a Schiit Saga preamp, which doesn’t provide a stereo balance control. It allows me to dial in the center image to compensate for my asymmetrical hearing, starting with both volume knobs at max setting then reducing the volume on the louder channel. It also seems to be a more “hi-fi” solution to channel imbalance than the conventional balance control (to me).
Take advantage of Saga's great step-relay volume control.......................... Turn the Saga 90% up, then raise the amps to as loud as you'll ever listen. This way many many more volume steps for incremental control will become available. The advantage really shows during low volume listening sessions. Balance control is still maintained. Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊
@@TriAmpMyFi There’s certainly merit in your suggestion. In my use-case scenario, my Saga is at about 75 % playing loud (85 db) and I don’t think I get to 50% at the lowest volume level that I listen to. The million dollar question. Does it have a high pass filter? If not then the sub output is bs. It’s bs anyway unless you have two subs since it’s a mono amp, unless of course you are one of the 7 people in the world with a passive subwoofer.
Wow I started off wanting to tell you GIVE!! me the SCIENTIFIC AUDIOPHILE name so I can launch my channel . Then you actually did a somewhat Scientific review and test..my eyes popped out and ears exploded at a restaurant.. Still Not sure how I drove home.. Are you trying to say that class D watts are not equal to class AB watts and if you are trying to suggest that, then think again because you are wrong. The Fossi ZA3 and V3 have been measured and their power outputs way exceeded 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms with the 48 volts power supply. I remember back in the day when the Japanese started putting out their little twin cam sixteen valve engines quoting ridiculous amounts of horsepower ratings. There were guys like you trying to suggest that Japanese horsepower were less than American horsepower and were they wrong. The formula for horsepower and watts are the same no matter where in the world the product comes from. As for the volume knobs, try thinking of them as the old fashioned balance knobs from earlier amplifiers. I am trying hard to like your channel, but maybe i should think again. 😢
Yes, that is what I'm saying for the "cheap" D amps. No sending them the voltage they want, they don't come close to the output power people expect. That's why they started adding the gain boosts on the back.
BUT....I think I see that woman on Jet Blue Airlines sometimes. Dang it, she always gets the aisle seat. I once saw a bicycle buit for two, built for those people. But instead of the second seat being in back, it was directly off to the side, and the bike had 4 wheels instead of two. My cousin is that fat. In his apartment, he will not walk through the door opening of any room, without first rubbing butter over his entire body . One stick for each side.
He also has to ask permission permission by law, to get into an elevator if there are more than 3 people in it. They usually all clear out right away, so he has it all to himself. They will not let him eat at All You Can Eat Buffets; unless he does something like saying "Party Of One.....Paying For Four Plates. I think our host is running out of gags. Good ones at least. Which is why I started tuning in. Not into cheap Chinese amps. I have to be very careful not to say anything humorous on here anymore, or it might get taken off, like my last post post.add on. Never meant to grab tbe spotlight, I just like humor and have a whole bank full of ideas, like what this channel once had, not that long ago. But as for tbe Ayima being too complex. That control that varies the amps subwoofer boost frequency is a very useful & genius control. Having some hertz numbers on the side of the control would've been nice; but it is a small amp and little room for stuff like that. I think they could've done it though. But other than that, something like that is really highly useful. My second system has a vintage Luxman integrated amp, where you can choose either 200 hz or 400 hz (marked) as the bass controls boost frequency. Was just playing some old Steppenwolf Greatest hits and throughout most of the songs, the 200 hz boost sounds best, but on some tracks, like the Pusher, the bass guitar pleyer goes up in frequency and plays some of the fanciest upper bass lines you ever heard.heard. Really cool. Keeping the bass control in the 200 hz position instead of the 400hz takeover position; and you miss the whole thing. Muddy, instead of intriguing perfect bass definition. So it's a wonderful control but it should have hertz bass number designations on the side, and a dot on the control, to give you some idea of where you are at, frequency wise. It probably also looks nicer than having just one control. If you don't like the control, it's as easy as skipping over a comment in the comment section you don't like. Maybe I'll have my comment taken off.once again. I notice no. like heart or comment from our host on my nice bit of creativity. Remember when this channel was full of humor and creativity? Just seems to me, like this review was no good ideas again, & to pick on something.
The formula for calculating wattage is watts (W) = amps (A) x volts (V). For example, 10 amps at 240 volts generates 2,400 watts of power. This formula never changes no matter what the application might be. If you are getting the illusion that the amplifier is more powerful because the gain switch was changed to increase the sensitivity, then you don't understand how amplifiers work. The gain switch was not put there to increase the power capability of the amplifier, but to allow the amplifier to reach a higher output with a lower input signal and a lower volume setting on the volume knob. The maximum power capability of the amplifier remains the same and will measure the same no matter what as long as the input signal is sufficient to drive the amplifier to maximum output. A lot of class AB and class D amplifier have gain switches built onto them. It is a very good tool to compensate for signal sources that is not high enough to drive the amplifier to full output. I hope you will take timeout to understand how amplifiers work before continuing with your audio reviews. Otherwise your channel will flop!
I fully understand how they work. As I said, if not given the voltage input they want, they won't reach the higher output. All this was clearly stated in the video.
